If someone hadn't lit torches and blown horns at the critical moment, drawing out all the men of the tribe, Zhao Jing would have ended up in the bellies of the wolves that time.
But it had to be admitted that through these shared hardships, Zhao Jing had largely won the trust of the Western Regions people. Now, if the commoners' livestock fell ill, or if anything went wrong with the horses in the Western Regions' army, they would invite Zhao Jing over to take a look. Curing them wouldn't necessarily earn him any rewards, but failing to cure them guaranteed a whipping. Zhao Jing had returned this time without any whip marks on his body, which showed that the sick and injured horses were mostly within a treatable range.
