'Why do all the people around me seem to have some sort of demon inside them?'
Ethan almost laughed at the thought.
'What's next? I have a beast inside me I can't control, and Kaela has some sort of ancient warrior.'
Considering how things had been going lately, it actually sounded pretty feasible.
'I fucking hope not.'
He pushed the thought aside.
There were more important things to worry about.
The distorted version of Mark stood across from them in the endless darkness, completely at ease. Unlike Mark, it showed no fear or hesitation. It had been born from the darkest instincts inside his brother and had spent weeks feeding off of him.
Now it had its own consciousness.
And that wasn't good for Mark, who clearly felt it too.
He took a cautious step backwards, staring at the dark-green version of himself with an expression Ethan had rarely seen on his face.
Fear.
The entity smiled.
Ethan stepped forward.
Mark might have been afraid, but he wasn't alone.
