Chapter 53: Bosses Of The Dungeon
Pebbles sat on a small stone that acted like a makeshift chair. He cast a gentle gaze at the dead body of the stone spider that had been killed.
"Forgive me, I couldn't arrive sooner..." he muttered.
"But I killed him, so rest assured, I have taken revenge for the death."
The stone spiders that had surrounded the dead body seemed a bit confused, puzzled, and bewildered.
Their eyes kept loitering around the green lizard, and Pebbles couldn't understand why. In an attempt to find out, he turned his gaze towards the lizard but found him on his knees yet again.
"It was I who killed them, master."
Pebbles' eyes widened. It was not obvious because of the mask, but the way the atmosphere changed with the sudden silence was enough to reveal the shock he felt.
"You? So you were the one who killed the poor fellow?"
The green lizard slammed his head hard onto the ground. A small shockwave reverberated through the area, and a visible crater formed on the floor.
"Forgive me, my lord, I was not in the right state of mind... I am truly apologetic!"
Pebbles couldn't help but retract his gaze and look the other way.
"The guy stole my name, and that was the basis of the confusion, m'lord."
Pebbles finally realized that it was Ryenar all along whom he'd fought.
He instantly gazed at the shaman, who gave a brief nod.
'So that's why she was so horrified...'
Rightfully so, a traumatic experience is not something that can be forgotten so easily.
'Wait, then what about the promise I made her...?'
He killed before he could snatch her name back... or not?
Pebbles realized that Ryenar was probably not dead, especially after the green lizard had mentioned why he'd be an important asset in the journey.
He calmed down.
"I will surely get your name back."
The shaman gave a nod to that as Azeth stood behind her, looking at her trembling hand.
He lowered his head and clenched a fist. He too had made a promise to himself... one that he'd reveal only when it was fulfilled.
Pebbles inhaled and looked towards the green lizard. He said it in one go, "Apologize not to me, but to them."
BAM!
Another crater formed a few centimeters away from the first.
"Forgive me!" he screamed, making sure everyone heard it loud and clear.
But it was up to the spiders to forgive him, and he could only plead.
All the spiders, especially the elderly, knew that a word from them and Pebbles would definitely honor it and kill the green lizard.
They were eager to do that. Their kin had died, and while it was unfortunate, they could at least get proper revenge...
"We..."
Spoke the stone spider who was closest to the one who had died.
"We will forgive him only after he dies... only after he dies protecting Master..."
When she paused earlier, the green lizard's breath caught in his throat, but after she finished speaking...
BAM!
Another slam to the ground.
"Thank you..." Tears rolled down his eyes.
"I will definitely protect Master, even if it costs my life."
BAM!
With each slam to the ground, the spiders grew nervous... the lizard might end up dead right there... so they couldn't help but fidget.
Pebbles let out a sigh. It was a sigh of relief. The stone spiders were understanding... quite understanding.
If they had demanded otherwise, he would have been forced to eliminate... them.
He would need the boss of the tenth floor over some puny spider pets any day.
The lizard continued to slam his head until a sudden gust of wind blew into the first floor from the entrance of the second floor.
When Pebbles turned his head to the left, he saw a few unique beings there.
"Boss? What are you...?" The boss of the fifth floor was a tree-shaped monster.
It was both interesting and fascinating to look at. It had beautiful green to dark green leaves, with many yellow withering ones on its branches. The trunk was gigantic, and it stood tall.
Pebbles was almost glad, for the second time, that Azeth had punched a hole in the place and that the hole was big enough to act as a gate... if not, he'd probably have to see the tree's backside.
'Wait, does a tree even have an ass? From where does it poop...?' Pebbles nodded inwardly, chuckling at the deep, interesting, and definitely world-changing question.
Then came a soft but high-pitched voice. Pebbles felt pity for the spiders, who suddenly swarmed a little away because of it.
If Pebbles had one word to describe it, it would be: irritating.
"Weee, Boss. You are finally surrendering to someone. Weeee..."
If Pebbles hadn't almost rubbed his mask in an attempt to rub his eyes, he wouldn't have believed what he was looking at.
'A flying... potato?'
It was a pink potato. And it had a small mouth and many eyes... and it was levitating...
As unbelievable as it was, it was fascinating. And it amazed Pebbles even more when he saw the seventh-floor boss.
"Hurl. Hurl. Ayo, boss, you bleed? Kahahaha. Hurl. Hurl. Boss, you weak? Kahahaha."
There was a smug-looking hamster hurling dumbbells.
Pebbles had to squint to look at the tiny hamster clearly and verify what he was seeing. It was bizarre...
None of these guys looked like bosses. The tree... somewhat. But the pink potato and a hamster? No way.
One glance at them and anyone would be ready to hunt them... there was no fierceness. There was no displayed strength per se.
And then Pebbles looked at her.
He stopped thinking.
The boss of the eighth floor made her appearance.
'I have seen it somewhere... somewhere... where?'
Pebbles' thoughts clicked, and he recalled the small baby white tiger cub he'd faced-the one Erst, the death wolf, had summoned previously while trying to kill him.
'Yes... it resembles that...'
Pebbles stared at the being that arrived.
It was majestic, yet old. Strong, yet slow. Large fangs became visible as it yawned...
It was a white tiger.
[Name: --] [Boss of 8th Floor]
[Race: White Tiger] [Lv. 65]
And Pebbles could swear that this beast was stronger than any other boss he'd seen... even stronger than the boss of the tenth floor-the green lizard.
[Name: --] [Boss of 10th Floor]
[Race: Common Garden Lizard, Nature Variation] [Lv. 49]
And the others...

[Name: Kyurn] [Boss of 5th Floor]

[Name: Mimasma] [Boss of 6th Floor]
[Race: Aberrant Potato] [Lv. 35]
