The newcomer was none other than Zhu Honglie.
"Greetings, Teacher!" Jiang Ye quickly bowed respectfully.
"You truly live up to being my disciple!" Zhu Honglie chuckled, clapping Jiang Ye on the shoulder. "To have secured two Heaven-Tier High-Grade Inheritances in the White Dragon's Court—truly remarkable!"
"You flatter me, Teacher," Jiang Ye replied with a bashful smile.
"No need to be modest," Zhu Honglie boomed, his voice echoing through the hall. "As a student of Penglai University, you're technically half a student of White Dragon University as well. What's obtained is obtained—no need for restraint."
Jiang Ye glanced at his teacher, a helpless expression on his face.
You're practically shouting that I'm from Penglai University, aren't you?
But he understood Zhu Honglie's pride.
In all its years, Penglai University had likely never produced a student like Jiang Ye, who had shone so brightly at White Dragon University, even outshining their Class A students.
In such a moment, wouldn't any teacher want to trumpet Penglai University's achievements?
"It's all thanks to your and Teacher Qiu's excellent guidance," Jiang Ye said, bowing again.
"Hahaha!"
Zhu Honglie and Qiu Cang both chuckled.
Shi Ting, standing nearby, watched with sparkling eyes. Even under such dazzling acclaim, Jiang Ye remained remarkably humble.
Jiang Ye struck her as truly exceptional.
And she wasn't alone in this sentiment.
The teachers observing from the sidelines nodded almost imperceptibly.
They had seen countless geniuses before.
But a polite and well-mannered genius? Even these top educators found such a student particularly endearing.
"Alright, let's head back," Zhu Honglie said, stroking his beard with a smile, clearly relishing the spotlight.
"Yes," Jiang Ye nodded.
But just as he was about to leave with his teacher, Qiu Cang suddenly interjected, "Wait. Head back where?"
"Where else?" Zhu Honglie rolled his eyes. "To Penglai University, of course!"
"Come, my dear disciple, follow your teacher!" Zhu Honglie declared, grabbing Jiang Ye's shoulder.
Snap!
In an instant, Qiu Cang seized Jiang Ye's other shoulder, his expression darkening. "The advanced training isn't over yet. For now, I am his teacher!"
"Isn't today the seventh day?" Zhu Honglie retorted. "The training schedule is complete."
"There are still a few hours left," Qiu Cang insisted, refusing to release Jiang Ye.
Jiang Ye found himself wedged between the two elderly men, his expression bewildered. He never imagined that these two highly respected teachers would actually start bickering over him in public.
"Teachers," Jiang Ye quickly interjected, seeing the situation escalating. "Why don't I just stay here tonight and leave tomorrow?"
"Alright, since my obedient disciple has spoken."
"Then stay," Zhu Honglie said, releasing his grip with a chuckle. "I'm always reasonable."
Qiu Cang also let go, smiling. "Jiang Ye, go back with Tang Wuji and Shi Ting for now. Teacher Zhu and I need to discuss something."
"Okay," Jiang Ye nodded immediately.
He quickly walked over to Tang Wuji and Shi Ting, joining them as they departed.
Before leaving, Jiang Ye glanced curiously at the silver-armored girl standing nearby.
Strange, she looks familiar, he thought, puzzled.
As if sensing his gaze, the girl turned to meet his eyes.
Jiang Ye, it's me, a voice echoed in his mind.
Senior Sister? Jiang Ye exclaimed inwardly, startled.
Why was Chen Zilu, who was perfectly fine, wrapping herself up so tightly?
"Don't worry about me. Go back with them first," Chen Zilu's sweet voice echoed in his mind, utterly captivating.
"Alright," Jiang Ye nodded at the girl and turned to leave.
On the plaza, the other teachers and students gradually dispersed.
By now, everyone understood the reason behind the commotion.
It was likely because Jiang Ye had obtained two Heaven-Tier High-Grade Inheritances, triggering the astonishing phenomenon of four pillars of light.
This event was destined to be a momentous chapter in White Dragon University's history.
But those were matters for later.
Shortly after Jiang Ye left, Zhu Honglie and Qiu Cang entered an empty conference room.
They closed the door.
Thud! Zhu Honglie plopped down on the sofa.
"Old Qiu, spit it out already," Zhu Honglie drawled. "This old man is busy."
Qiu Cang shot him a speechless look.
"You always have to show off in front of me, don't you?"
"Fine, I admit it," Qiu Cang said, shaking his head helplessly. "You really did take on a good disciple."
"Hmph."
"Thinking of taking on a disciple now?" Zhu Honglie chuckled. "Weren't you against it before?"
"When did I ever say I was unwilling?" Qiu Cang retorted, glaring. "Don't twist my words."
"Enough with the nonsense," Zhu Honglie scoffed. "Your teaching methods aren't suited for him anyway."
"That kid wouldn't be able to handle the intense pressure at White Dragon University either."
Qiu Cang fell silent.
Isn't that what I was going to say?
Now Zhu Honglie was using his own words against him.
Truly, the heavenly dao rewards karma in cycles!
"Fine, I'm done arguing with you," Qiu Cang said calmly. "Let's do this: I'll be his primary master, and you'll be his secondary master."
"Huh?" Zhu Honglie's brow furrowed sharply.
What's this about?
"You sly old fox, Qiu! Trying to take advantage of me?" Zhu Honglie shot to his feet, huffing angrily. "I'm taking that kid with me right now!"
Qiu Cang swiftly blocked his path.
"Old Zhu, why are you getting so worked up?"
"I was just joking," Qiu Cang said with a placating smile. "If you want to be the primary master, fine by me."
"It's not about what I want," Zhu Honglie said, shaking his head. He wasn't truly angry. "It's about what that kid wants."
"Of course he'll agree," Qiu Cang insisted.
"That's not so certain."
Zhu Honglie said, "Even I find White Dragon University stifling. Jiang Ye might manage for a week, but do you think he could adapt to staying here longer?"
"Besides, Jiang Ye isn't a student here, so he can't access the university's benefits. His living arrangements and transportation would be inconvenient."
"We can't expect him to commute back and forth every day, can we?" Zhu Honglie shook his head.
Even if Qiu Cang takes Jiang Ye as his disciple, it would be a private arrangement. Jiang Ye would still not be a student of White Dragon University. According to regulations, the university wouldn't provide accommodation or meals after the training period ends.
"Unless," Zhu Honglie continued, "White Dragon University is willing to accept him as a transfer student. Otherwise, Jiang Ye's continued stay here would be nothing but suffering."
Qiu Cang initially nodded slightly, finding Zhu Honglie's points reasonable. But as he heard the final remark, he suddenly realized what was happening.
"You sly old fox, Zhu!" Qiu Cang pointed at him, speechless. "So this was your plan all along? You want him to enroll at White Dragon University?"
"I never said that," Zhu Honglie chuckled. "I'm just looking out for you. Jiang Ye might not even want to become your disciple."
"Go fuck yourself," Qiu Cang couldn't help but curse.
After all this beating around the bush, Zhu Honglie just wanted Jiang Ye to become a student at White Dragon University!
It was true that transferring to one of the ten great schools was an extremely rare opportunity for students from the twenty-five school alliance.
But even with the close relationship between Penglai University and White Dragon University, such a transfer was virtually impossible.
The College Entrance Examination was the easiest path to enter the ten great schools.
Transferring? The difficulty would increase exponentially.
"White Dragon University's transfer standards are too stringent," Qiu Cang said patiently. "For someone like Jiang Ye, unless he achieves at least a fourth breakthrough within two years, there's no room for negotiation. Those are the rules."
White Dragon University wasn't just any school.
It ranked among the top three of the ten great schools!
No matter how close their relationship with Penglai University, they couldn't compromise on transfer admissions.
After all, it was uncertain whether a transferred student would ultimately contribute to White Dragon or Penglai after graduation.
Unless you were exceptionally talented, capable of earning admission from both schools, Jiang Ye hadn't yet reached that level.
"Jiang Ye has secured two Heaven-Tier High-Grade Inheritances," Zhu Honglie countered.
"Isn't that enough?" Zhu Honglie frowned.
"If he had obtained a Civilization Inheritance, it would indeed be sufficient," Qiu Cang replied. "While Heaven-Tier High-Grade inheritances are rare, they're not uncommon among White Dragon students."
"Students ranked Mid A-Tier or higher all have a chance to acquire them."
"Compared to Jiang Ye, it's merely a difference in quantity."
Qiu Cang shook his head.
Jiang Ye's acquisition of two Heaven-Tier High-Grade inheritances was indeed remarkable.
But ultimately, it couldn't compare to a Civilization Inheritance.
White Dragon University had no shortage of Heaven-Tier High-Grade inheritances; they were commonplace among Mid A-Tier and Upper A-Tier students.
Only a Civilization Inheritance could truly capture White Dragon University's attention.
"Then there's nothing more to discuss," Zhu Honglie said, shaking his head.
Qiu Cang glanced at him and suddenly sighed.
"Very well, between you and me, I won't hide my intentions."
"I do want to recruit Jiang Ye," Qiu Cang admitted. "How about this? In two months, the Twenty-Five School Genius Cup will be held."
"If Jiang Ye wins the championship, I'll recommend him to the principal and the others, asking for a special exception to admit him."
"What do you think?" Qiu Cang asked, looking at the red-haired elder before him.
Zhu Honglie pondered for a moment.
"Alright," he agreed. "I'll ask the kid later if he's willing to become your disciple."
"No need," Qiu Cang said with a smile. "I'll ask him myself."
With that, Qiu Cang's figure flickered and vanished.
In a dimly lit area, Qiu Cang reappeared.
Instead of immediately seeking out Jiang Ye, he deliberately chose a secluded spot and pulled out his phone.
Beep. The call connected.
Ding! A pristine white projection materialized.
"Teacher," Chen Zilu's cool voice echoed through the connection. "What is it?"
"Xiao Chen," Qiu Cang said urgently, "go find your junior brother and tell him to become my disciple. Now."
"Huh?" The girl in the projection looked bewildered.
"Teacher," Chen Zilu quickly recovered, "if you want to take him as a disciple, isn't this too hasty? Jiang Ye isn't even a student at White Dragon University."
"That doesn't matter," Qiu Cang insisted. "Just go."
"Alright," Chen Zilu replied, ending the call without further argument.
"Hasty?" Qiu Cang lowered his phone and shook his head slightly.
If he didn't accept Jiang Ye now, the other teachers at White Dragon University wouldn't stand idly by.
Securing two Heaven-Tier High-Grade Inheritances at once was nothing extraordinary for White Dragon University as a whole.
But for the teachers, it represented an exceptionally rare genius.
Xiao Chen, it's up to you now, Qiu Cang thought to himself. You must win over your junior brother.
He shared Zhu Honglie's concerns. If he asked Jiang Ye directly, the young man might refuse.
Fortunately, he had a beautiful female disciple known as the "Number One Beauty of the East Sea."
This was the perfect task for Xiao Chen.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ye followed his fellow disciples back to the silver-white starry building.
Along the way, Tang Wuji and Shi Ting peppered him with questions, their curiosity about his experiences insatiable.
After returning to the training room on the 108th floor, Jiang Ye finally managed to excuse himself from his senior brothers and sisters under the pretext of needing to cultivate.
"Finally," he sighed, "some peace and quiet." He took a deep breath and began to meticulously review his gains from the day.
The greatest prize, of course, was the White Dragon True God Manual.
A True God-level Cultivation Technique—its value needs no further explanation.
The path to becoming a True God!
If word got out, every transcendent family in Blue Star Civilization would go mad with desire.
"Next is the Heaven-Tier High-Grade Inheritance, the Star-Piercing Arrow Technique."
Once mastered, this arrow technique, combined with Void Enemy Detection, would become one of Jiang Ye's ultimate trump cards.
"Finally,"
"My spearmanship." Jiang Ye's gaze shifted to the status panel.
[Great Sun Spear Technique: Major Success (29%)]
"After over ten hours of continuous combat, it hasn't budged even slightly?" Jiang Ye hissed through his teeth.
The major bottleneck stage was truly terrifying!
He now fully realized how much Chen Zilu's assistance had helped him break through the previous major bottleneck stage.
Without her, it might have taken him months to break through.
"How do I overcome this bottleneck?" Jiang Ye pondered.
Suddenly, he retrieved a piece of jade from his chest.
"Enlightenment Divine Jade." Jiang Ye examined the gift Chen Zilu had given him.
The jade felt warm and smooth like polished fat, its surface glowing with a soft, translucent light. Dark, swirling patterns resembling flowing clouds shimmered within, while faint crimson specks like stars in a night sky dotted its interior.
"These past few days..."
"It doesn't seem to have had any noticeable effect," Jiang Ye muttered, his eyes filled with confusion. "How exactly is this Enlightenment Divine Jade supposed to be used?"
The gift from Chen Zilu couldn't possibly be completely useless.
Moreover, just the name alone suggested it was something of immense value. Anything associated with the word "Divine" was bound to be extraordinary.
Yet, despite his extensive online searches, Jiang Ye had found absolutely no relevant information.
As he pondered this, his phone suddenly buzzed to life.
Jiang Ye opened it to find a series of messages:
Jiang Ye, I am Yun Shan, a senior professor at White Dragon University. I have been following your progress with great interest. If you are willing to become my disciple, I am prepared to offer you...
Jiang Ye, greetings! I am Li Yunlong, a senior professor at White Dragon University. All my disciples have already made names for themselves in the Great Stellar War.
Jiang Ye, I have quite a few female disciples under my tutelage...
Message after message flooded his screen.
"Teachers from White Dragon University?"
"All senior professors?" Jiang Ye stared in disbelief. "They want to take me as their disciple?"
He was utterly stunned.
This is too fast! I just got back to my room.
Buzz!
Another notification arrived.
Senior sister wants me to come out? Jiang Ye checked the message. It was a text from Chen Zilu.
Without hesitation, he shot out of the room.
Whoosh!
Moments later, Jiang Ye, clad in his Cosmic Battle Armor, soared to the top of the Silver-White Starry Building.
From afar, he spotted a beautiful young woman standing on a platform. She wore white shoes, white socks, and a simple white dress, her aura as cold and elegant as a secluded valley.
A faint stellar radiance shimmered across her chest, accentuating her ethereal beauty.
"Senior sister," Jiang Ye called out as he landed before her. "Why did you ask me to come up to the roof?"
"Because I have something to tell you," Chen Zilu replied.
Seeing him, a radiant smile bloomed across her usually cool face.
"Congratulations," she said, her voice brimming with warmth. "You must have gained a lot this time, right?"
Jiang Ye nodded, grinning. "You could say that."
You could say that?
A Third-Tier Civilization Inheritance was beyond imagination.
"You really made a splash this time," Chen Zilu chuckled, covering her mouth. "Everyone will remember you now."
"Oh?" Jiang Ye's expression shifted, and he smiled. "So, I'm becoming famous?"
"Yes, you're quite famous at White Dragon University now," Chen Zilu said, her smile radiant.
A gentle breeze lifted her thick, jet-black hair, carrying her unique scent—a sweet, refreshing fragrance like lime after rain, neither cloying nor overpowering.
Her smile was breathtakingly beautiful.
"Why are you even happier than I am, Senior Sister?" Jiang Ye asked, studying her curiously.
"You're my junior brother, of course I'm happy," Chen Zilu huffed, turning slightly to gaze at the distant, bustling river scene.
"How happy?" Jiang Ye pressed, his eyes fixed on her exquisite profile.
"...You really don't know how to talk to girls, do you?" Chen Zilu rolled her eyes.
"Ahem." Jiang Ye coughed, then chuckled. "I don't talk to other girls much. How would I know what to say?"
Chen Zilu glanced at him, the corners of her rosy lips curving upward slightly.
She looked away again, shaking her head gently. "Such a blockhead."
Her voice was barely audible, but with Jiang Ye's current cultivation level, he couldn't possibly miss it.
Hearing her words...
Jiang Ye scratched his head, offering no rebuttal.
He knew he could be quite dense at times. Chen Zilu had given him a communication watch, clearly hoping to stay in touch. Yet Jiang Ye hadn't realized it at the time and hadn't contacted her again until just before the College Entrance Examination.
If it had been anyone else, the relationship would likely have faded completely. Yet Chen Zilu still recommended him to Penglai University.
Back then, Jiang Ye hadn't noticed any of this.
But looking back now, he realized he had indeed been rather oblivious.
Still, people grow and learn.
The fact that Jiang Ye could now understand these things was progress in itself.
"Senior Sister, you didn't bring me here just to tell me this, right?" Jiang Ye asked with a smile.
Chen Zilu nodded.
"What are your plans for the future?" she asked, her bright eyes turning back to him.
"Plans?" Jiang Ye pondered for a moment. "After finishing my advanced studies, I'll return to Penglai University and resume my regular cultivation."
"Hmm." Chen Zilu nodded slightly, pausing as if hesitating over something.
"Senior Sister," Jiang Ye said, noticing her expression. "Just say what's on your mind. Don't worry about how I'll react."
Chen Zilu rolled her eyes at him, but she was genuinely concerned about Jiang Ye's thoughts.
After a few moments of contemplation, she finally spoke.
"Would you be willing to formally become Old Qiu's disciple?"
Jiang Ye was taken aback.
It wasn't the question itself that surprised him, but rather the length of time Chen Zilu had taken to consider it.
"This isn't just a casual apprenticeship," Chen Zilu clarified. "It's like the relationship you have with Teacher Zhu. Old Qiu would formally accept you as his disciple."
Jiang Ye paused again, startled.
He blurted out instinctively, "If that happens, wouldn't you become my senior sister?"
"What?" Chen Zilu froze, clearly not expecting that response.
Seeing her stunned reaction, Jiang Ye quickly explained, "Right now, I'm just Old Qiu's student."
"But if I become his formal disciple, we'd both be his last disciples. Wouldn't that make you my senior sister?"
There's a clear distinction between a student and a disciple.
It's akin to the difference between outer sect and inner sect disciples.
While figures like Tang Wuji and Shi Ting also study under Qiu Cang, they're merely students in his public classes.
Only those like Chen Zilu are considered Qiu Cang's true disciples.
Upon hearing this,
Chen Zilu finally realized what he was implying and couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"I was asking about taking you as a disciple. What were you thinking?"
"A senior sister is a senior sister," Chen Zilu huffed. "What's the difference?"
"A closer one," Jiang Ye grinned.
Chen Zilu glared at him with her peach-blossom eyes. This guy's quick to seize any opportunity to tease me, she thought.
For some reason, Chen Zilu found herself not even angry.
"So, you'll accept?" she asked, her bright eyes fixed on him.
"Since my senior sister came to ask personally," Jiang Ye chuckled, "wouldn't she be sad if I refused?"
"Spare me the theatrics," Chen Zilu scoffed. "I don't care whether you accept or not. It's your decision."
"Then I refuse," Jiang Ye said, raising an eyebrow.
"You—"
Chen Zilu glared at him again, about to retort, but her earlier words made it difficult to speak.
The girl froze on the spot.
Her snow-white cheeks puffed slightly, her cherry-red lips parted slightly, and a hint of annoyance flickered in her peach-blossom eyes as she stared at Jiang Ye.
This expression transformed her usually cool and aloof features, imbuing them with a rare touch of endearing innocence.
