Alex let out a short laugh and looked toward the source of the voice.
There, he saw a portal open.
On the other side of the portal was Titan.
Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax, and the others filed out.
Spider-Man was carrying Iron Man's body.
"What happened to Stark?", Captain America was the first to notice the man in Spider-Man's arms. His eyes narrowed.
Peter Parker gently laid Iron Man's body on the ground and said sorrowfully, "Mr. Stark is dead."
Looking at the corpse with a blade through its abdomen, Steve asked in a heavy voice, "Who killed him?"
Peter Parker raised his head and looked toward Alex.
"Him!"
Steve immediately turned to Alex, "Is that true?"
Alex shrugged, "I did it."
"There's nothing to deny."
After all, this was a war.
People die in war.
Alex thought that was perfectly normal.
At that moment, Doctor Strange said, "Strictly speaking, only half the credit belongs to him."
"Before the Conqueror made his move, Thanos had already gravely wounded Stark."
"Thanos used him to threaten the Conqueror, but it was obvious he had misunderstood the relationship between us and the Conqueror."
With just those few sentences, Steve roughly understood what had happened.
"I understand."
Alex nodded as well and looked at Doctor Strange, "You're quite the gentleman."
He meant it sincerely.
Even while standing on the opposing side, he could still be this fair.
He truly was a gentleman.
Of course, Doctor Strange wasn't about to thank Alex for the compliment.
They walked over to Captain America and stood together with the other Avengers.
Standing on the same side.
At the same time, T'Challa had also assembled Wakanda's army, the Black Iron Tide forces, and even the several Guardians that protected the royal palace.
The two sides stood clearly divided, facing each other.
"What do we do next, sir?", T'Challa asked quietly.
Then he saw Shuri wake up and couldn't help feeling relieved.
Alex didn't answer him. Instead, he raised his voice toward Steve and the others.
"Why are you all still here?"
"Waiting for T'Challa to invite you to dinner?"
As the representative of the Avengers, Captain America stepped forward, "Cut the jokes, Conqueror."
"We'll deal with Stark's death later, but you know why we're staying."
"Hand over the Infinity Gauntlet."
Alex rested his hands on his hips and smiled faintly, "How arrogant, Steve."
"Do you really think you're qualified to say that?"
"If Steve isn't, then what about me?"
Doctor Strange pointed at the Time Stone on the Infinity Gauntlet.
"That has been guarded by the Masters of Kamar-Taj for generations. You took it from me, so shouldn't you return it?"
Alex raised one finger, "First, strictly speaking, I took it from Thanos."
"Don't forget, you were already about to hand the Time Stone over to Thanos."
"I simply intercepted it before it reached his hands."
"And then I protected it with my own strength."
"So at that point, it was no longer yours, Doctor."
Steve and the others all looked toward Doctor Strange.
Somewhat awkwardly, he said, "He's telling the truth."
Alex raised a second finger, "Second, the Infinity Stones belong to no one."
"Whoever has the stronger fist controls them."
"If you want them, then come and take them."
"Try taking them back from me."
"But I do have to remind you of one thing."
"Avengers, you're standing inside Wakanda's borders."
Alex smiled at T'Challa, "So I wonder whether the host welcomes you."
T'Challa immediately understood what he meant and calmly said, "Steve, we've already helped you separate Vision from the Mind Stone."
"Now I'm closing Wakanda's borders. Please leave."
"Otherwise, this will become an international incident."
Thor stepped forward at that moment, "Hand over the Infinity Gauntlet, and we'll leave immediately."
"If you give me that gauntlet, I can even temporarily forget what you did in Asgard."
Alex's attack on Asgard alongside the Dark Elves was something Thor hadn't had the chance to tell Steve and the others.
Hearing it from Thor now, Captain America and the others all looked surprised.
They had originally thought the Conqueror had disappeared for six years.
Now it seemed that wasn't the case.
He simply hadn't appeared on Earth during those six years.
Alex shook his head, "Forget it."
"I originally thought it would be better to avoid unnecessary trouble. I didn't want to waste time and energy on you."
"But it seems I was still too naive."
"You people really won't give up until you're staring death in the face."
"Since you refuse to leave..."
"Then none of you are leaving."
Dark crimson flames burst from Alex's body.
The overwhelming pressure of his divine power at 200% output weighed down on everyone present, friend and foe alike, both mentally and physically.
Just then, something stirred in Alex's mind.
He suddenly looked up toward the distant sky.
Then he chuckled, "Today's getting pretty lively."
T'Challa looked confused.
But at that moment, he received an air defense alert.
["Your Majesty! We've detected a high-speed object heading straight toward us!"]
Before the warning had even finished, T'Challa heard the faint but deep roar of something breaking the sound barrier high overhead.
Then a tiny point of light appeared in the distant sky.
The point of light rapidly grew larger.
Soon everyone could see that it was a person wrapped in brilliant energy.
A woman!
She descended from the sky and slammed into Wakanda's protective dome.
The nation's energy shield shattered on impact as if it weren't there at all.
The woman then streaked overhead before skidding sideways across one side of the battlefield and coming to a stop in front of the Avengers.
Dust billowed like waves.
When it settled slightly, T'Challa saw that a blonde woman now stood on the battlefield.
She wasn't strikingly beautiful, but she had a heroic bearing.
The woman glanced at the Infinity Gauntlet on Alex's hand.
"Are you Thanos?"
She had obviously mistaken him for someone else.
Alex smiled.
He knew exactly who she was.
Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers.
According to the movie's storyline, she wasn't supposed to appear at this point.
"Damn correction..."
Alex muttered something that no one else could understand.
At that moment, Steve said, "No, ma'am."
"He's not Thanos."
"Who are you?"
Captain Marvel looked back at him.
"You must be Captain America, Steve."
"I'm Carol. Nick Fury sent me to support you."
"Now that I'm here, you can relax."
"Go get some rest."
She turned back to Alex, "I don't care who you are."
"As long as you have that, you're my enemy."
Captain Marvel pointed at the Infinity Gauntlet on Alex's hand.
