Chapter 241 - Chapter 229: Like a God or Demon

Tap!

A figure lightly landed in the heavily damaged palace plaza.

Alex looked around and saw the palace reduced to ruins. His face darkened.

He had stayed at sea for two days.

Although he had learned through the information network where the White Portugese had obtained the Kryptonite, the ocean was vast. Even though Alex had used "Necromancy" to enslave large numbers of sea-dwelling undead and use them as his eyes and ears to carry out a sweeping search across the seafloor, it had still taken quite a bit of time before he finally obtained the Kryptonite he needed.

Thud!

Alex casually tossed a box containing Kryptonite at his feet and looked toward the bay.

Gunfire filled the sky there as the Amazons fought an army clad entirely in white armor.

From their appearance alone, Alex immediately recognized them.

They were Atlantean soldiers.

"What the hell is going on?"

At that moment, he saw Helena get thrown off her horse.

Then the horse's flesh split open, and it collapsed onto Helena.

At the bay, the battle was not going well for the Amazons.

The technological power of Atlantis far surpassed that of the Amazons.

Against Amazons who still used primitive melee weapons, it was complete domination.

Although Amazons possessed strength and stamina far beyond ordinary people, Atlanteans could move freely in the deep sea. Their bodies were much denser than those of the Amazons. Their strength and endurance were no weaker, and their technology was superior.

The Amazons had no chance of winning.

On the Amazon side, only Hippolyta could truly fight them.

However, Atlantis's young king, Orm, was personally dealing with the Amazon Queen.

The two were evenly matched.

But that was because Orm was not used to fighting on land.

His true battlefield was the sea.

Although he appeared to be on equal footing with Hippolyta now, if they were underwater, Hippolyta would be no match for him.

Even so, Orm was no pushover.

From time to time, he swung his trident.

The weapon inherited from the previous king summoned streams of water from the sea.

They circled around Orm and assisted his attacks, making the fight difficult for Hippolyta.

"You have no chance of winning, Your Majesty," Orm called out.

"Look at your people. They're almost all dead."

"For the sake of our ancient alliance, I can give you a chance to surrender."

"Swear loyalty to me, and your Amazons can live."

Hippolyta knocked aside the trident thrust at her and calmly replied, "Amazons never surrender."

"How boring," Orm commented.

Not far from them, Helena's horse reared up and threw her to the ground.

Then several beams killed the horse.

Its body collapsed onto Helena.

For the moment, Helena could not push the horse away.

Several Atlantean soldiers approached and raised their guns.

Beams of light shot toward her.

"So this is it?"

"I can't accept it."

A figure flashed through Helena's mind.

At that moment, a figure landed in front of her and blocked the incoming beams.

Helena froze for a second.

Then she saw a red cape flutter before her eyes.

She saw a figure in black armor outlined by sunlight.

That figure stood tall.

Like a mountain.

Just seeing him put people at ease.

'The Conqueror!'

Light came back to Helena's eyes.

'The Conqueror has finally returned!'

'The Amazons are safe!'

"You okay?"

Alex glanced back at her.

Without even looking, he casually threw a punch.

The punch split the air and unleashed a shockwave that blasted several Atlantean soldiers away.

The deep-sea warriors' bodies twisted in the shockwave. Water poured from their armor.

By the time they hit the ground, they were dead.

Alex bent down, lifted the horse's corpse away, then pulled Helena to her feet.

Looking around, he asked, "What's going on?"

Anger rose in Helena's eyes.

"It's Atlantis! They started a war against us using made-up accusations!"

As she spoke, Alex raised an arm and blocked a bombardment from the flagship at sea.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"Wait here."

BOOM!

Alex shot into the sky.

After pausing briefly in the air, he streaked toward the Atlantean flagship.

Inside the flagship's command center, Mera gasped softly.

"Who is that?"

Vulko frowned, "A Kryptonian?"

At that moment, the figure with the red cape suddenly disappeared from the large screen.

"Where did he go?"

"Find him, now."

A sense of dread rose in Mera.

Before she finished speaking, a tremendous crash sounded out.

The violent shaking knocked her to the floor.

She looked up and saw a huge hole torn through the ceiling of the command center.

Sunlight poured through the opening.

The light fell across a red cape.

Then the figure straightened up.

Alex glanced at Mera on the floor, then expressionlessly turned away.

Golden flames burst from his eyes.

He spun once.

Heat Vision swept around the command center.

Wherever it passed, fireballs erupted.

On the beach at the bay, Orm forced Hippolyta back and was about to continue his attack.

Suddenly, a huge explosion sounded behind him.

He turned around.

A massive pillar of fire was rising from the sea.

Within the raging torrent of flames, like a volcanic eruption, the flagship he had brought shattered apart.

Fragments scattered everywhere and crashed into the surrounding waters.

Then a figure drifted out from the pillar of fire.

Golden hair shone in the firelight.

The intense flames behind him prevented Orm from seeing his face clearly.

He could only make out a dark silhouette.

And two points of golden light on his face.

Like a god.

Or a demon.

Orm's heart pounded.

A sudden sense of danger almost made him want to rush toward the shore and dive into the sea to escape.

But his pride as a king stopped him.

Then he heard Hippolyta's voice, "Do you know why we didn't surrender?"

"Because we have a powerful ally."

"Now, it's too late for regrets."

The destruction of the flagship brought the fighting in the bay to a halt.

Hippolyta took the opportunity to gather the Amazon warriors together.

The deep-sea soldiers from Atlantis also forgot to continue their attack.

The flagship's destruction had shocked them, leaving them at a loss.

So everyone quietly watched as Alex floated above their heads and finally landed in front of Hippolyta.

On the sea, a sphere of water rose up.

The water parted to both sides, revealing the red-haired Mera and the white-haired Vulko inside.

"Terrifying."

Mera looked back.

Countless pieces of the flagship floated on the sea, along with a large number of soldiers' bodies.

Sadness passed through her eyes, "These people shouldn't have died here."

She did not blame Alex.

When armies fight, one side lives and the other dies.

Since they had chosen war, dying in battle was normal.

The person Mera hated was Orm.

If he had not insisted on his own way, if he had not started this war, so many people would never have died.
