Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: I Will Find You

Susan Raynor paused when she heard that and turned around to look at Alex.

But Alex had his back to her. He raised a hand and tapped lightly on the floor-to-ceiling window, "Look, Deputy Director. Our city is so safe, so prosperous."

"And yet you want to destroy it."

"Have you ever thought about what would happen if you revealed Compound V?"

"Let's say I give you what you want. You expose Compound V, tear apart Vought's lies, force superheroes out of their jobs, make them unemployed."

"At that point, no one will be willing to hire them. So what will they do?"

"I think if you look at those superpowered criminals, you can probably guess what unemployed superheroes would do."

"But they're not the important part. What matters is me. Do you think I'd just retire and go home, listen to music every day, plant some flowers, or go fishing or something?"

Alex let out a soft laugh, "Of course not."

Then the corners of his mouth lifted into a smile.

"I would destroy all of this."

"I would drag people like you out of your office buildings, out of your fortresses, out of your tight security, and kill you one by one."

Inside the command hall, the temperature seemed to drop all at once. The deputy director felt a chill crawl up her back and rush straight into her head.

She felt that Homelander wasn't joking. He was serious.

At this very moment, the killing intent radiating from that man was real.

But that coldness, that murderous aura, vanished just as quickly, like it had only been her imagination.

Alex turned around then, his smile charming, "So go ahead."

"I won't stop you."

"But after you reveal the truth, you'd better hurry home and say goodbye to your children and your parents."

"Because I will find you."

Susan Raynor's body trembled slightly, and she couldn't say a word.

Alex lifted his chin a little and made a gesture inviting the deputy director to leave, "Go on, Susan."

The deputy director thought for a moment, then took out the test tube and placed it on the table. She gave the man in the hall a long, deep look, then silently left.

Alex glanced at the test tube on the table, walked over, picked it up, and casually tossed it into the nearby trash can.

After the CIA deputy director left, Alex found a chair, sat down, leaned back, and opened his inventory.

He remembered he still had three random multiverse loot boxes he hadn't opened.

So he took one out.

Looking at the thing in his hand that resembled a lottery box, Alex wiped his face and reached inside, "This time, give me something useful. Let me shake off this bad luck streak."

Just like before, the inside of the box seemed like an endless space. Alex couldn't feel the presence of the box at all, as if his hand had reached into a universe.

At that moment, his palm warmed slightly. Alex pulled his hand out, and a hazy glow lingered in it.

The glow quickly took shape.

A pair of glasses.

One of the lenses even had a crack in it. It looked like an item from some unknown universe.

Alex picked it up, and information appeared on his retina.

[Captain Archibald Witwicky's Glasses: An item from the Transformers universe. When worn, it allows the user to obtain the coordinates of the AllSpark.]

"Transformers! AllSpark coordinates?"

Alex couldn't help but sit up straight. He tried putting on the glasses. Looking through the lens, a car-navigation-like interface appeared in his field of vision, with an arrow spinning erratically like a malfunctioning compass.

Alex took off the glasses and let out a chuckle, "Looks like it only works once I'm in the Transformers universe."

He put the glasses back into his inventory and took out another loot box.

A moment later, a document appeared in his hand.

He looked confused and turned his gaze to the file.

[Pan Pacific Defense Corps (PPDC)]

[Combat Weapon Archive, Jaeger]

[Name: Gipsy Danger]

[Model: Mark III]

[Launch Date: January 10, 2017]

[Operating System: BLPK4.1 (Equipped with fluid neural pathways)]

[Power System: Nuclear turbine engine]

[Note: Reactor shielding has been upgraded. All pilots who have operated Mark I and Mark III Jaegers must take the therapeutic drug Mesarazine daily during service.]

Alex was slightly stunned. He hadn't expected that even items from the Pacific Rim universe could be drawn.

Although it was just a not-so-useful Jaeger document, this file proved that the Pacific Rim universe existed.

Just as Alex was about to take out the last loot box, Ashley came in and reminded him that at ten o'clock he needed to go to Olga Weapons Development Company.

During the Manhattan Incident, Olga Company's president Arnold had promised to share the powered armor technology with the Federation and Vought.

Today was the day he would fulfill that promise.

Alex nodded. For the moment, he didn't take out the multiverse loot box. He stood up and prepared to head to Olga Company.

———

Ever since he was kidnapped that day, soldier Levin hadn't stepped out of his house for several days.

It was already evening. Sitting in his wheelchair, he glanced at the distant street outside the window and let out a sigh.

"Homelander must have forgotten about me, right?"

"Levin, wake up."

"Who would remember a piece of trash like you? Let alone a superhero like Homelander."

He rolled his wheelchair over to the table and looked at the trophies and gold medals placed on it.

Levin reached out, trying to grab one of the trophies. It was from a college football league he had won back in school, but sitting in the wheelchair, he couldn't reach it.

Just as he was about to give up, he saw a hand reach over from above and pick up the trophy.

Then Homelander's voice sounded.

"College football league gold medal."

"Impressive, Mr. Levin."

Levin was overjoyed. He turned his wheelchair, and sure enough, he saw Homelander.

Alex smiled and handed him the trophy, "I can't present you with an award, but what I promised you the other day, I can do it."

"Now there's just one question."

"Are you ready, Mr. Levin? Ready to abandon your past life?"

Levin didn't answer right away. He looked around, then asked, "Before I leave, can I say goodbye to my parents?"

"Of course. That's your right."

Levin nodded, "Please wait a moment."

Alex then flew out through the window and patiently waited for Levin to say his goodbyes to his parents.

———

When night fell, they arrived at a desolate hilltop. Alex took out the 'Druid Modification Serum.'

"After injecting this, your genes will change. You'll become a superhuman, able to switch between three forms: Bearman, Werewolf, and Harpy."

"Now I'll inject the serum for you. Are you ready?"

Levin rubbed his hands together eagerly, "I'm ready, sir."

Alex smiled, "It might hurt a little."

A moment later, on the empty hilltop, Levin's scream rang out. The scream gradually turned into a bear's roar, then after a while, into a wolf's howl.

Finally, a sharp eagle cry echoed across the hill.
