BWDC:SDDK Chapter 100: The Movie's Top War Criminal, Kaito Kid
Seiran Hoshi.
She was the professional assassin who appeared in the movie The Last Wizard of the Century.
Her target was the Romanov Dynasty's imperial treasure, the Imperial Easter Egg—the Memory Egg—currently being exhibited by the Suzuki family. Prior to this, Seiran Hoshi had been operating all over the world, targeting any treasures related to the Romanov Dynasty.
Consequently, she was an international thief wanted globally, possessing a unique alias:
Scorpion.
She was a boss-level character in the movies, comparable to Teiji Moriya.
Logically speaking, Seiran Hoshi should be worth at least 150 points, right?
Actually, no. Ren Ichimonji deduced that the difficulty of the security mission for Seiran Hoshi might only be medium. In the movie The Last Wizard of the Century, there was someone else capable of reaching a high-level security mission difficulty.
--- Ren Ichimonji decided to see if he could "harvest the coins" from this "someone else" first.
If that didn't work, he would investigate Seiran Hoshi's location later.
He wanted to see if he could find and eliminate this notorious international thief today, lest he lack enough points for his backup plan when dealing with the eight-eyed spider illusionist tomorrow.
In the afternoon, at Kaito Kid's secret base.
Kaito Kuroba sat on the sofa.
He leaned back with a "What are you doing?" expression, looking at the uninvited guest before him.
A salted fish was a mere three centimeters away from his throat.
"Kaito Kuroba, I have something to tell you."
Ren Ichimonji held the "Imperial Sword," his tone calm and appearing extremely serious.
He asked, "The Romanov Dynasty's imperial treasure, the Memory Egg, is about to be exhibited at the Suzuki Foundation Museum in Tokyo."
"What are your thoughts on this?"
Kaito Kuroba: ?
No, you put a salted fish to my neck just for this?
What Memory Egg? What on earth are you talking about?
Kaito Kuroba looked at the salted fish in Ren Ichimonji's hand with a face full of disbelief.
He said, "What are you talking about? I have no idea!"
--- The "someone else" Ren Ichimonji mentioned earlier was Kaito Kid.
Because, in the movie, in order to steal the Romanov Dynasty's imperial treasure, the Memory Egg, Kaito Kid chose to directly blow up the power substation in Osaka Prefecture.
This led to a large-scale power outage across the entire Osaka Prefecture.
It was estimated that the casualties from this single action alone would be more than the total of everyone the Black Organization had killed since their debut. Without exaggeration, this was practically a terrorist attack.
In comparison, Teiji Moriya's previous plan to blow up several landmarks in Beika Town seemed almost harmless.
If Teiji Moriya's actions counted as a high-difficulty security mission, then Kaito Kid blowing up the Osaka power substation in The Last Wizard of the Century definitely qualified as one as well.
Now, Sonoko Suzuki said the Memory Egg's exhibition location was at the Suzuki Foundation Exhibition Hall in Tokyo.
That meant the plot of The Last Wizard of the Century should also move to Tokyo. In that case, what Kaito Kid would blow up would be Tokyo's power substation, which perfectly met the conditions for a security mission!
"I only want to ask you one thing."
"Are you still going to blow up the power substations in Osaka or Tokyo to steal the Memory Egg or other gems by causing a city-wide blackout?"
Ren Ichimonji pressed the salted fish forward slightly.
Feeling the "sharpness" of the salted fish, Kaito Kuroba almost jumped out of his skin.
Unfortunately, at such close range, Kaito Kuroba had no way to escape from Ren Ichimonji, let alone bristle and hiss.
"Wait, the M-Memory Egg?"
"What exactly is... are you talking about those Russian Easter Eggs?"
In this crisis, Kaito Kuroba utilized his superior memory to quickly identify what Ren Ichimonji was referring to.
He twitched his lips and said, "There are only fifty Easter Eggs in total, and they've all been collected."
"Where would the Suzuki Foundation get an Easter Egg? A fifty-first? Even if there were a fifty-first, I have no reason to steal it. It's not a gem; why would I steal it?"
"Blowing up a power substation is even more nonsensical. Look around my base; if you can find even a bit of explosive, I'll give you this base."
Ren Ichimonji stared at Kaito Kuroba for a while.
With a thought, he brought up the system.
He found that the security mission completion page still hadn't popped up, and he couldn't help but feel puzzled.
--- He knew, of course, that in the official Conan history, The Last Wizard of the Century was treated like "dark history" or non-canon.
But Seiran Hoshi had already appeared; could the plot still change?
Ren Ichimonji turned to look at Konosuke Jii, who had just entered the base and was looking at Kaito Kuroba and Ren Ichimonji with a confused expression.
The old butler thought Ren Ichimonji was doing some kind of performance art with a salted fish.
He put down the tray in his hand and tried to leave discreetly.
"I... I won't disturb you. I'll go now."
"Wait, you can't leave."
Ren Ichimonji called out to Konosuke Jii.
Immediately, Konosuke Jii turned around, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Master Ren, your salted fish has no deterrent effect on me."
Ren Ichimonji: ?
Did I call you over because of the salted fish?
Ren Ichimonji tossed the salted fish aside, patted Konosuke Jii on the shoulder, and said seriously, "I'm saying Kaito Kuroba is going to blow up Tokyo's power substation soon. Do you believe me?"
Konosuke Jii: ?
I cannot understand; I am greatly shocked!
Konosuke Jii wore an expression of disbelief.
Before Konosuke Jii could say anything, Ren Ichimonji patted his shoulder and instructed, "You absolutely cannot let Kaito Kuroba do that, do you understand, Butler Jii?"
"Otherwise, I'll really have to turn up the heat on him!"
Hearing this, Konosuke Jii nodded repeatedly.
Even if Ren Ichimonji hadn't mentioned the last part, he would never have allowed Kaito Kuroba to blow up a power substation.
If the city lost power, there's no telling how many people would die in hospitals alone.
Including himself, not one of the three generations of Kaito Kid had blood on their hands.
He absolutely couldn't let Kaito Kuroba's generation break that tradition—especially while Master Toichi was still alive!
Looking at Ren Ichimonji and Konosuke Jii's solemn expressions, Kaito Kuroba fell silent.
He felt an indescribable emotion.
Fine, once this business is over, he'd take a few days off and go to the United States to find his parents.
That way, Batman couldn't go crazy and say he was going to blow up power substations, right?
During Kaito Kuroba's silence, the doorbell rang abruptly.
This was the sound from the Kuroba residence's main gate, indicating a visitor outside.
"I won't talk about this with you anymore. Fine, I'm leaving."
"Inspector Nakamori specifically asked me to go over and see how the anti-theft facilities at the scene are."
Kaito Kuroba put his hands behind his head and walked out, lacking any of the elegance of a legendary thief.
Watching Kaito Kuroba's shadow gradually disappear, Ren Ichimonji rubbed his chin and then asked:
"Butler Jii, do you know where that consultant the Suzuki family hired, Seiran Hoshi, is located?"
"It's rare to meet an old friend in a foreign land; I have something to discuss with her."
Konosuke Jii: ?
Is... is that for real?
