Keifer tried to grab me as I stumbled, but I pushed him off.
I spotted Ariella sitting at a table, looking adorable and out of place among the party chaos.
I walked (ok stumbled) over to her, plopped down beside her, and pulled Percy (my stepbrother) into the mix too.

Keifer walked closer, expression neutral, handing me water. "Drink this."
I took the water, sheepish. "Thanks" (all awkward!!) ''..Percy, what were you thinking?"

Keifer's eyes narrowed slightly. "Jay..."
I sighed and said, "Alright, let's just go. Let me just drink one last glass."
Keifer's expression didn't change, but he took the glass from my hand and placed it on a nearby table. "No more drinks. Let's go."
I rolled my eyes slightly but let him guide me towards the rooftop exit. Ari and Percy were ahead, laughing about something – Ari's mini-drama with the mocktail probably.
As we walked, Keifer's hand brushed against mine. I didn't pull away...but I didn't exactly lean in either.
We reached the elevator, and he pressed the button. "After you."
I stepped in alone; Ari and Percy stayed behind, saying goodnight to me .The doors closed, and it was just us.

"Guess they're giving us some space," he said low.
