The Dominion Tyrant Eye
Out came Julian D'Aurelius, stepping past the doorway just as the hush of evening settled over Valemont. Light from streetlamps slid across the glossy hood of his sleek vehicle parked below.
Inside he went after turning the handle, took his seat, then shut the door - soft boom followed.
He sat still before turning the key. The car stayed silent for a breath. Not once did he rush it. Only when the light changed did his hand move. Then came the hum of ignition.
Out came a cigarette instead.
A flicker from the lighter lit up his face for just a moment - dark hair draping loose across his brow, those amber eyes catching the glow like embers. Then shadows swallowed it all again.
He inhaled slowly.
Smoke curled lazily inside the car.
Julian leaned back against the seat.
He wasn't worried about Liza Voss telling Evan about what happened earlier at the Melodic Sea music store.
If Evan found out, so what?
At this point, hiding things was pointless.
