Chapter 242 - Night of Broken Swords

I stared at my hand, watching a small black spark dance on my fingertips. I knew this flame well. I had used it in countless life-or-death fights, pushed it to its limits, and felt the cold numbness it left behind every time it fed.

I didn't need anyone to tell me how dangerous it was.

But Seren was right about one thing — until now, I had always used it like a hammer. I either let it sleep inside me, or I threw it out as a massive wave of destruction to erase whatever was in front of me.

"Watch closely, little bird," Seren said.

The white fire on her palm didn't explode outward. Instead, it smoothed out, flowing down her wrist and wrapping around her arm like liquid.

She walked over to a metal testing block. With a gentle flick of her wrist, the liquid fire moved forward, curling around the block.
