Skylar waited for the others to meet her at the front of the castle. The horse stayed in the same place with Skylar the entire time. Skylar couldn't help but wonder what would come of saving the village. What will happen to the new people they will meet? Skylar wasn't sure what would happen after. But if they needed help, Skylar wasn't going to stop Alucard from going. She had a feeling Alucard would bring Dracule and Elizabeth with them.
"Wonder how this will go," Skylar said, petting the horse's neck while waiting for Alucard and the girls. She felt uneasy with Alucard and her in a romantic relationship at the moment. It felt too unstable, like it would fall apart in an instant. She wasn't sure if it would last long. "This will definitely change things for Alucard. In a good way, I hope."
"Where did the horse come from?" Tara asked as she came through the bushes with Tanya and a few day creatures. Skylar turned to face her and the others with her. "Is it a lost horse? Or was there a rider here?"
"The rider came here dead on the horse's back," Skylar explained. "A village needed help, and Alucard and I parted to get things ready."
"Wow," Tanya said as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Can't imagine what was going through the heads of that rider's family or loved ones."
"I know what you mean," Skylar said, running a hand through her hair. Skylar then heard footsteps coming from around the castle. "Huh?"
Skylar turned, and her eyes widened when she saw Alucard in new attire. Dracule too. Dracule wore a form-fitted suit in a way, and she had her hair half up and braided. Alucard wore a tailored, high-collared black frock coat with subtle gold or gray trim, no shirt, leaving him exposed from the chest to belly, showing the scar across the abdomen, layered over dark trousers, a belt, and riding boots. In his hand was a shield she didn't remember Alucard mentioning he owned. Skylar had a hard time looking away from Alucard.
"Well, well, you two got dressed up nicely," Tara said, looking between the children of Dracula. She saw Skylar was staring. Tara smirked and nudged Skylar towards Alucard. "I think Skylar likes it on you, Alucard."
"Ah," Skylar looked at Tara, then at Alucard. He was grinning at Skylar. "It looks good on you."
"Thank you, Skylar," Alucard made his way to Skylar. He snaked one arm around her waist and pulled her against his side. "Let's get going."
"We should," Skylar said. Tara had some of the day creatures stick with selected individuals to carry them to Denesti. Skylar was about to get on one of the day creatures when Alucard pulled her by the hand towards the horse. "Alucard?"
"You are riding with me," Alucard climbed onto the horse and pulled Skylar to sit in front of him. "Hold on tight."
With that, Alucard and the others rode off to Denesti. The trip along the road was long, going into the night. Dracule and Elizabeth were in the sky, riding the back of a day creature with wings. Tara rode the back of a day creature with a build similar to some night creatures with bat features. Tanya flew alongside Tara. Three-day creatures ran alongside them, some with wings, some with claws, and one with the lower half of a snake. The woods trailed on for many minutes until an opening in the trees came into view.
"Looks like Denesti," Skylar said as they got closer to the gates.
"And those are night creatures," Dracule said as we got closer and saw multiple red creatures. red outer shells like insects or certain shelled sea creatures.
Skylar held her palm outwards, towards the village and night creatures, sending out many fast-paced orbs of sunlight. Each orb struck the night creatures from behind, hitting each one at rapid fire. The night creatures shrieked from the strikes.
"Let's go!" Tara leaped off the day creature carrying her. Tanya caught her and flew high in the air. Then, she threw Tara in a downward spinning motion. Tara held her staff, and with a deafening crunch, she struck her staff downward, smashing through the night creature's protective shell, killing it.
"Alucard," Skylar said as she jumped from the horse, using her power of daylight to create an orb with spinning rings to carry her towards the night creatures, taking her sword out as she got close.
"Right behind you, Skylar," Alucard called after her as he sent his long sword forward first, then leaped off the horse. Dracule and Elizabeth flew over to the villagers, drawing their swords to help where they were needed. Skylar and Alucard fought back to back, Tara and Tanya did the same, throwing each other out of the way to land hits, and the day creatures lunged and bit through the night creatures. One of the night creatures nearly broke through the wooden gates of Denesti. Alucard sent his sword into the back of one of the night creatures, then stomped on the upper spine of the night creature, nearly breaking into Denesti's gates. Skylar stomped the daylight orb and rings into the head of the night creature. Alucard stomped on. Its head exploded in sparks of daylight. Alucard leaped at the night creature, his sword was through, and pulled its neck back until the creature's neck cracked, killing it. One night creature landed a hit on Alucard, sending him flying.
"Alucard!" Skylar wasted no time using daylight to get to him as he landed in the dirt. Dracule moves with inhuman speed, striking the night creature upwards into the air. With a deep, sharp break, she shrieked upwards, sending a soundwave that propelled the night creature higher into the air of the cold night sky. Before long, the night creature was blown to pieces, unable to withstand Dracule's scream. The last night creature formed blades on the back of its hands with its outer shell and charged at Dracule, Alucard, and Skylar. Before it could do anything, the day creature with a snake's lower half snagged its lower border around the night creature's head, tightly, and ripped off the night creature's arms. Then, with a loud snap, the night creature's head came flying off.
