Chapter 20 - The Hold, And The Castle

Dracule met Elizabeth in the main hall of the castle at the entrance. There, Trevor and Sypha were standing with Elizabeth. When Elizabeth saw Dracule, she pulled her into a tight embrace. Dracule didn't fight it and returned the embrace. While Skylar had gotten her footing and moved quickly from Alucard, she tried to fan her face to calm down. He followed her, of course, then found the others in the main hall.

"What do you think he's going to do now?" Sypha asked Trevor. Almost immediately after, Alucard spoke up.

"I had a plan, you know," Alucard said as he made his way down the stairs on one side, and Skylar came down the set of stairs on the other side. "I was going back to Gresit... Return to my vault..."

Skylar froze mid-step on the ground level. She looked at Alucard, concerned after hearing him earlier in the lab.

"Go back to sleep," Alucard continued to say as he made his way down the stairs. Skylar stood at the bottom of the stairs, watching Alucard.

"But?" Trevor asked. Dracule stood with Elizabeth, watching Alucard.

"If I leave the castle here..." Alucard began as he came up to the group. "All his work is inside it. His libraries, his materials, his knowledge. What happens to all that if the structure becomes abandoned?

Skylar followed Alucard with her eyes. She knew how he felt about this castle, what was inside, and what could happen to his knowledge.

"I can't just leave it here. It'd be a grave to be robbed," Alucard continued talking. The silence that followed was deafening. "So... let it be my grave."

"No," Trevor said, looking over the walls of the castle. Skylar looked between Alucard and Trevor.

"No?" Alucard tilted his head a little, his lips parting in almost a smile.

"Belmont?" Skylar questioned Trevor, not entirely sure if his actions were from kindness or if it was just to humour Alucard.

"No," Trevor said again, "we can't move this thing. Sypha broke it."

"I did not." Sypha retorted.

"You kind of did," Alucard said.

"I do not break things." Sypha protested.

"Mm, yeah, no, you did," Skylar said. "Sorry, but it's the truth."

"So, we agreed she broke it," Trevor said.

"Oh, yes," Alucard said.

"Obviously, I agree with Alucard," Skylar said.

"So, it's staying right here, forever." Trevor continued to talk. "Right on top of the Belmont Hold, which is now open to the world."

Trevor made his way to Alucard, and Skylar made her way up behind Alucard. She wasn't sure what to do when interacting with him now, but she wanted to get a better stance on what was going on in his head.

"Up here, your fathers collected knowledge. Down there, the collected knowledge of your mother's people." Trevor said as he gestured to corresponding places. "As above, so below."

Skylar looked at Alucard, watching his body language for any sign of discomfort or tension. She wasn't sure what was happening in his mind.
