Why were the Celestials called "celestial"?
A major reason was their enormous size.
In the universe, the planet-sized Knowhere was the head of a dead Celestial.
From that alone, one could tell just how massive this race was.
Even though the ones who had arrived were not among the most abnormal existences of their kind, their bodies were not small in the slightest.
Every member of the Celestials was comparable to a continent on Earth.
If a Celestial like this died, humans might even be able to live on their body.
For such gigantic beings, it was still manageable when they were slightly farther away.
But once they drew close, the pressure they gave off was unimaginably terrifying.
A massive creation as large as Mount Everest slowly appeared in space.
For a moment, the members of S.W.O.R.D. all held their breath.
"What exactly is that?"
"What kind of monster is that?"
The S.W.O.R.D. agents had experienced plenty of major events.
Even so, at this moment, they still could not suppress the shock in their hearts.
As the Celestials continued to approach, some members even felt sincere terror rising in their hearts. Their legs trembled so badly that they almost wet themselves.
For a moment, the S.W.O.R.D. agents directly lost their combat ability.
Only a few elite agents were able to maintain their rationality.
In fact, these agents could not be blamed.
The Celestials were an ancient, higher form of life.
They naturally carried a deterrent force against lower lifeforms.
It was just like a rabbit facing a tiger. Its first instinct would be to flee.
This was an instinct.
The appearance of powerful lifeforms like the Celestials threw the entire S.W.O.R.D. facility into chaos.
"Call for support!"
The veins on Nick Fury's face bulged as he forcibly maintained his will.
"Yes!"
The few S.W.O.R.D. agents who could still keep their rationality directly pressed the support button.
Nick Fury, meanwhile, gritted his teeth.
From his coat, he took out a communication device.
However, every single movement he made felt as though it used up all the strength in his body.
This was the power of the life-pressure that the Celestials naturally carried.
Fortunately, Nick Fury was worthy of being a Level 10 elite agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
He possessed willpower at the very peak of humanity.
He was a truly powerful human who relied on an ordinary mortal body to stand against all kinds of superhumans.
Relying on his astonishing will, he took out the interstellar communication device Captain Marvel had given him.
Then he directly pressed the button.
Ring.
The pager-like device emitted a burst of light, and Captain Marvel's symbol appeared on it.
Nick Fury revealed a relieved smile.
Then he collapsed onto the floor.
At this moment, not a single person in all of S.W.O.R.D. could remain standing.
Several Celestials had already drawn extremely close to their base.
In Nick Fury's field of vision, all he could see were dozens of massive shadows blotting everything out.
For a moment, Nick Fury's mind was filled with fear, and his body began to tremble.
Even so, he had no intention of running away.
He raised a middle finger.
Then, in a trembling voice, he spoke.
"Motherfucker!"
After cursing, he collapsed weakly onto the floor.
The Celestials outside naturally noticed this disrespectful human as well.
At their level, even a quantum computer operating across the entire planet could not compare to their perception.
Every movement in the surrounding area appeared in their minds.
"Such a lowly race dares to show disrespect to us?"
Arishem said.
He did not even spare Nick Fury a second glance.
Under that terrifying beam of energy, not only would the S.W.O.R.D. base be directly vaporized, even Earth's continent would suffer a devastating blow.
Half of the Eurasian continent would probably sink outright.
And this…
Even if it destroyed humanity, to them, it would be no different from killing ants on the ground.
A faint smile even appeared at the corner of Arishem's mouth, as if he enjoyed it very much.
He watched as the blue light destroyed everything before him.
However, just as that blue light was about to vaporize S.W.O.R.D., a golden radiance lit up.
Complex golden patterns appeared above Earth.
The intricate patterns flashed.
The blue beam was actually blocked directly, and it did not even cause the slightest ripple on the golden spell array.
"What?"
Arishem was stunned.
Had he gone to the wrong place?
How could a remote parallel universe like this have a spell array comparable to the one protecting Earth in the Prime Universe?
That made no sense!
Arishem's face visibly froze.
To be honest, he would not have been surprised at all if Earth in the Prime Universe had such a powerful spell array.
The Prime Universe was the source of everything. Its level was also the highest, and all kinds of great gods were on Earth.
If it did not have some powerful protective measures, Earth would have exploded long ago.
But what was going on here?
This was only a weak parallel universe.
The universe could only allow beings at the Single-Universe level to grow.
Where had this spell array come from?
What he did not know was that the culprit behind all of this was currently inside S.W.O.R.D.
Karl appeared in front of Nick Fury.
With a wave of his hand, green energy emerged.
All the S.W.O.R.D. agents felt their minds clear.
Their spirits, which had been suppressed by intimidation, also recovered.
"Nick Fury, you really are still kicking this time."
Karl gave Nick Fury a hand and pulled him up from the ground.
"That's right. This time was really ugly. I almost lost my life."
"What exactly are those monsters?"
Nick Fury asked, still shaken.
"They're not monsters."
"They're the Celestials, an ancient race from the previous universe."
"They have existed in this universe since the early days of its birth."
Karl spoke with emotion.
"Gods?"
"There are gods like that in this world?"
Nick Fury asked with a frown.
Karl smiled.
"The gods in this world are far more excessive than you imagine."
"Gods survive by feeding on people."
Karl said noncommittally.
"All right."
"I don't have time to waste."
"Those guys have already started attacking Earth's spell array. What they're consuming is Earth's precious energy."
"I can't let them waste it like this."
After Karl said that, his figure directly disappeared from S.W.O.R.D.
The next moment, his figure appeared directly in front of the group of Celestials.
"The Celestials?"
"I've heard a lot about you. May I ask what brings you to Earth?"
Karl spoke with a smile, looking like an extremely kind person.
When the dozen or so Celestials saw Karl suddenly appear, they were all greatly shocked.
They had actually failed to notice how Karl had done it.
Was this man really that troublesome?
Several members of the Celestials immediately became cautious.
