By all that was sacred.
Shuma-Gorath had never imagined that a human could be this fierce.
Mephisto.
That was a Hell Lord. More than that, he was one of the Hell Lords who had existed since the birth of Hell itself.
After all these years, no one had ever dared to face him head-on with such arrogance.
No one had been able to do anything to him.
Was it because Mephisto had no enemies?
No.
Mephisto's enemies were everywhere.
As someone who excelled in schemes and tricks, he was absolutely one of the three most hated lords in Hell.
Leaving everyone else aside, even Lucifer, a fellow Hell Lord, hated him to the bone. Given the chance, Lucifer would kill Mephisto at the slightest provocation.
And yet, after all these years, had Mephisto died?
No.
He was still alive and well. Sometimes, he even went through Hell and harvested another wave of souls.
From that alone, it was clear just how powerful Mephisto was.
But now.
In that short instant.
They had merely lost focus on Mephisto for a split second.
And Mephisto had died?
They could even sense that Mephisto's soul had been shattered.
The Hell Law he possessed had already vanished as well. It could not be detected at all.
Mephisto was dead.
Completely dead.
Annihilated down to body and soul.
Even Shuma-Gorath, a great demon who had swept across the Multiverse, could not help trembling at that moment.
This guy was truly a little too terrifying.
Shuma-Gorath even felt that the calamity once brought by Demogorge the God-Eater could not compare to the kid in front of him.
Demogorge the God-Eater had been born from the union of the Demiurge and Gaea.
But the kid in front of him was completely ordinary at the root.
Why could he be so powerful?
Shuma-Gorath became extremely careful. He directly flew more than ten thousand kilometers away before finally feeling a little safer.
"Shuma-Gorath, aren't you supposed to be a legendary great demon?"
"Why are you so timid?"
Karl said with a smile.
Shuma-Gorath ignored him completely.
He focused entirely on defense and gave Karl no opportunity at all.
A powerful mental barrier directly formed a defense dozens of meters thick.
This guy was actually not planning to attack for the time being.
Even Karl could not help the corner of his mouth from twitching.
Well, damn.
No wonder this thing had been able to sweep across the Multiverse.
That cautious attitude was even greater than his own.
He had learned something.
"Shuma-Gorath, do you think you can hold out for long by relying on defense alone?"
"One day, I'll break open that shell of yours. What will you do then?"
Karl said with a smile.
As for Kaluu beside them, Karl simply ignored him.
At least for now, Kaluu had not shown any real threat.
Karl only divided off a portion of his mental force to keep an eye on him.
Facing Karl's question, Shuma-Gorath merely sneered.
"You think a Hell Lord of this level falls that easily?"
Karl suddenly turned his head.
Then he discovered that the place where he had beaten Mephisto to death by force was now filled with a large amount of pale green light.
Those were traces of the Law of Time.
Karl frowned.
The Sacred Sword of the Vishanti instantly appeared in his hand.
He slashed toward the front.
But before the pale green Law of Time, the platinum-white holy sword broke apart, collapsed, and gradually disintegrated.
The mighty power of time was that unreasonable.
Even though Karl had comprehended the Law of Time, he still could not interfere with this power of time.
There was only one possibility behind this phenomenon.
The source of this temporal power was extremely high-level.
Very likely, it came from some powerful god.
Karl felt no nervousness at all.
Even if Mephisto revived, he knew one thing for certain.
Mephisto was definitely furious.
A treasure that could reverse a segment of time and revive its owner was almost impossible to obtain.
Even the Infinity Stones could not revive their own wielder.
The Time Stone could create time loops. It could revive others. But once its wielder died, they could no longer use the power of the Infinity Stones.
Dead meant dead.
But no one knew what method Mephisto had used.
He had actually reversed time.
His soul, laws, and body were slowly being reconstructed.
A treasure like this was priceless.
Even a powerhouse at Mephisto's level would probably be ruined by losing it.
Karl did not make a move. He simply watched in silence.
"Ah!"
As time continued to flow backward, Mephisto's body slowly reconstructed itself.
Under the repeated restoration, Mephisto let out a groan and revived.
The moment Mephisto reacted, he immediately retreated more than ten thousand kilometers as if fleeing death itself.
The expression on his face was incomparably horrified, as if he had run into a ghost while walking alone in the dead of night.
After all, standing in front of him was someone who had beaten him to death while he was fully alive.
How could he not be terrified?
How could he not be afraid?
Only after retreating an unknown distance did Mephisto finally have time to think.
In an instant, the depths of his heart became incomparably complicated.
Terror, lingering fear, horror, shock, heartache—all kinds of emotions intertwined.
Then came Mephisto's fury as a Hell Lord.
This human sorcerer was far too monstrous.
It was practically absurd.
He had been killed instantly.
The many precious magical artifacts on his body had shattered directly.
His powerful skin, which could withstand attacks from a planetary explosion, had not helped at all.
Even the Infernal Law he controlled seemed to have lost its effect in that single instant.
He had seen such terrifying power before from those powerful gods.
But now, he had seen that power in a mortal.
And because of it, the most valuable treasure on his body was gone.
That was a supreme treasure passed down by Gaea, the oldest goddess.
It could directly reverse time within a certain range.
It was absolutely a heaven-defying treasure.
The value of that gemstone was comparable to all of his treasures combined.
But now.
It was gone.
Mephisto had never felt such heartache before.
That treasure had directly saved one of his lives.
Mephisto's eyes turned crimson, almost the same color as his skin.
"Kid, no matter what price I have to pay today, I will make you die!"
Mephisto glared viciously at Karl.
He had never suffered such a massive loss in his entire life.
He absolutely could not let it end like this.
"You two, attack with me."
"We'll pour in all our strength and kill this kid directly."
"If you don't use your full strength, you won't be able to withstand his attacks!"
Mephisto spoke with a ferocious expression.
It was obvious.
Because his loss had been too great, Mephisto had gone mad.
Even if he had to pay an enormous price, he was determined to kill Karl.
This was completely different from his usual cautious, life-preserving nature.
Clearly, this time, Karl had truly enraged him.
However, Karl had no reaction at all. He had already anticipated Mephisto's reaction.
What he wanted to know was this:
What kind of surprise could this guy give him?
