Chapter 82 - An Opportunity?, Part 3

Point of View: Gorilla Tribe Chief

As I processed everything I had just heard, a question forced its way into my thoughts.

How does he know so much?

I fixed my gaze on my subordinate, analyzing every movement he made.

"Tell me… how did you conduct this investigation… and how reliable is it?"

This wasn't a casual question. We couldn't afford to offend someone we shouldn't… not in a situation like this.

He didn't hesitate.

"Don't worry, Chief. We didn't investigate anything directly. We only gathered rumors… and paid for information through third parties from other races. We placed them in key locations, like the portal hall and transit zones."

I nodded slowly.

Careful. Smart.

Now that I thought about it, leaving him in charge while I was away… had been a better decision than I realized.

I rested a hand on my chin, thinking.

"You handled it well… but that doesn't answer my question. How reliable is the information?"

He stayed silent for a few seconds before answering.

"The sieges are confirmed by multiple sources. Some come from tribes living near the attacked cities."

"I see…" I murmured. "And what about Lysera?"

He hesitated.

That alone made me tense.

"That… is a rumor," he admitted. "But there's more. It's said that the First Pillar, Sylvanas… nearly clashed with Baroness Lysera in the city, but was stopped by other Primordials."

My eyes widened.

"Here… in Dalaran?"

"Yes. At first I didn't believe it, but… I've heard it too many times to ignore."

My mind began to race.

Dalaran had an absolute rule: violence was forbidden.

No one knew what would happen if it was broken… and precisely because of that, no one dared to try.

"So…" I said slowly, "you think Sylvanas tried to attack her because she considers her responsible."

"That's what we believe. It wouldn't make sense otherwise."

I let out a soft breath.

Even they… the strongest… avoided breaking the rules.

Interesting.

"Did anything else happen while I was away?"

"No, Chief. Everything else… is normal."

Silence.

For a moment, everything went still.

And then…

I laughed.

At first quietly. Then louder.

"…Hahaha…"

My subordinate stiffened, confused. The other leaders looked at me as well.

"What's so funny?" one of them asked, annoyed. "The situation is serious."

I shook my head, still smiling.

"Serious?" I looked at each of them. "No… this is an opportunity."

They frowned.

They didn't see it.

Not yet.

"Think about it," I continued. "The four great powers are being attacked at the same time. Arcadia… Ursaia… Atlantis… the Mother Nest…"

Their expressions changed.

Now they were beginning to understand.

"If this continues…" I went on, my smile sharpening, "they'll weaken."

The silence grew heavy.

"Are you saying…?" one murmured.

I cut him off.

"Yes. I'm saying this… is our opportunity."

I felt something burning inside me.

Ambition.

"Aren't you tired?" My voice lowered. "Of being beneath them?"

Now their gazes had changed.

There was no more doubt.

Only hunger.

"If they fall… or even if they simply weaken…" I clenched my fist, "we can reach their level."

One of them stepped forward.

"Or surpass them…"

I smiled.

"Exactly."

The atmosphere shifted.

The previous tension… transformed into something else.

Something far more dangerous.

"We need to move now," one said. "We can't waste time."

"Another conquest," another added.

I nodded.

"Tomorrow."

They all looked at me.

"We leave at dawn."

No one objected.

On the contrary…

They all smiled.

Because at that moment, we were all thinking the same thing.

This was our opportunity.

And we had no intention of letting it slip away.

Point of View: Loki

Laughter escaped my lips uncontrollably.

"Hahahahaha…"

I walked among them… invisible… untouchable…

And yet…

I could feel them.

Their ambition.

Their greed.

Their desire for power.

It was… beautiful.

"Oh… little Lysera…" I whispered, amused. "You don't even understand what you've unleashed."

This… wasn't just chaos.

It was the beginning of something far greater.

A spark.

One that would soon…

Become an inferno.

I closed my eyes for a moment, savoring it.

"Elena won't be happy…"

A smile formed on my face.

"But I can't help it."

Because this…

This was my nature.

I opened my eyes.

A reddish glow flickered within them.

"I am chaos."

Darkness.

Evil.

Not something learned…

But something I am.

The abominations don't obey me out of fear of my power.

No.

They obey me because they recognize what I am.

Not the form I take…

But what lies within me.

And that…

Terrifies them.

I laughed softly, bringing a hand to my face.

"Although… I must admit…"

My gaze lifted into the distance.

"If it weren't for this half…" I murmured, "I would have already destroyed everything."

Being a planet…

Was the only thing keeping me contained.

Limited.

Bound by a logic that was never mine.

I sighed.

"Sister…" I murmured. "You bring order… I bring chaos…"

And then…

I smiled.

"And Genesis… maintains the balance."

That's why he leads.

Because he is the only one…

Who stands between us.

A neutral being.

I looked back at the leaders.

I felt their emotions burning.

"Look at them…" I whispered. "They're already falling."

Not from fear.

Not by force.

But by choice.

And that…

Is the most beautiful form of chaos.

I laughed again.

"In the end… Lysera…"

My voice grew lower.

Darker.

"You did exactly what I wanted."

I raised my gaze.

And in my eyes…

Burned something beyond amusement.

"And this… is only the beginning."
