Chapter 33 - Chapter 32: The Osaka Aftermath.

The Osaka underground market was sealed by dawn.

Guild containment teams arrived within the hour—silent, efficient, no questions asked. They swept the tunnels, collected the shattered artifacts, and took the unconscious S-rank into custody. No media. No leaks. Official report: "Routine maintenance incident. No casualties."

Haruto, Miya, and Yuki watched from a rooftop two blocks away—black coats blending into the night. Below, black vans loaded up. Ren's voice came through their encrypted comms.

"Prisoner secured. Artifacts neutralized. Good work. No traces leading back to you."

Miya responded first.

"Any survivors talking?"

Ren's tone was flat.

"None left conscious. They'll wake up in a black-site cell with memory gaps. Standard procedure."

Yuki leaned against the railing.

"Convenient."

Ren paused.

"The division is active. Unofficial designation: Shadow Wardens. You three are the core. First directive: rest. Then report to the Nakano safehouse tomorrow night. We have intel on the next lead."

The comm clicked off.

Haruto stared at the city below—neon still blazing, oblivious.

Miya looked at him.

"You okay?"

Haruto exhaled slowly.

"The S-rank said Nox is inside me. Not dead. Sleeping. Awakening."

Yuki crossed his arms.

"He was trying to rattle you."

Haruto shook his head.

"He wasn't lying. The System confirmed it."

He opened his status panel—golden light flickering in the dark.

**[System Log – Post-Osaka Update]**

**[Residual Nox Essence – Reclassified: Internal Dormant Core.]**

**[Current integration: 0.8%. Awakening probability: 19% (stable).**

**[Guardian Alignment: 99.2%. Sovereign Override suppressed.]**

**[New Passive: Inner Sovereign Control – You may suppress or accelerate awakening (risky). Current suppression cost: -10% to all stats for 24 hours per use.]**

Miya read over his shoulder.

"You can keep him asleep."

Haruto closed the panel.

"For now."

Yuki's voice was hard.

"Then we keep him asleep. Permanently."

Haruto looked at them both.

"If it wakes… I don't know if I can stop it."

Miya stepped closer—hand on his arm.

"Then we stop it. Together."

Yuki nodded.

"No solo hero bullshit. We're in this."

Haruto met their eyes.

He nodded—once.

They left the rooftop.

Back at the Nakano safehouse, they collapsed—exhausted but alive.

Miya took the couch. Yuki claimed the floor with a sleeping bag. Haruto sat by the window—watching the street.

Sleep didn't come easily.

When it did, the dream was simple.

A black void.

Nox's voice—soft, almost gentle.

"You can't bury me forever, little warrior."

Haruto stood in the dark.

"I already did."

Nox's laugh echoed—faint, distant.

"You delayed me. But delay is not defeat."

The void rippled.

A faint purple light pulsed in Haruto's chest.

"You carry my heart now. One day… you'll feel it beat."

Haruto clenched his fist.

"I'll crush it."

Nox's voice faded.

"See you soon."

Haruto woke with a start—sweat on his brow.

The room was quiet.

Miya slept on the couch. Yuki snored lightly on the floor.

Haruto looked at his chest.

No glow. No pain.

But he felt it.

A faint heartbeat—foreign, deep inside.

Not his.

He stood.

Walked to the window.

The city slept.

But he didn't.

The Sovereign was awake.

And the Guardian watched.

Tomorrow, Ren's intel would arrive.

Tomorrow, they would hunt again.

But tonight…

Tonight, Haruto waited.

For the heart inside him to beat again.
