At her question, Jake paused.
His smile gradually faded as a complicated look flashed across his face.
He stared at the wooden ceiling of the cabin for a few seconds, searching for the right words.
Grace noticed the change immediately.
She stayed quiet, resting her head against his chest and waiting patiently, her fingers tracing soothing circles on his skin.
Finally, Jake let out a slow breath.
"...I'm not from this world, Grace," he said quietly.
Grace lifted her head slightly, her golden eyes widening in surprise, but she didn't interrupt.
Jake continued, his voice low and a little distant.
"I came from a place called Earth, a completely different world. There was no classes, no aura, no sea beasts there... just normal people living normal lives. I had a family, a home, a father who trained hard every morning… and then one day, I simply woke up here."
He gave a small, wry smile.
