Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7: The Trap He Set

**[Morning: Seoul Elite University — 10:05 AM]**

The air felt different today.

Heavier.

Tighter.

Like something—

was about to happen.

Aeri stepped onto campus.

Same walk.

Same calm expression.

Same untouchable aura.

But inside—

nothing was the same.

Her mind wasn't quiet anymore.

It kept going back—

to last night.

To him.

To that moment—

where distance almost disappeared.

Her fingers tightened slightly.

Annoyed.

At him.

At herself.

At the fact—

she hadn't pulled away.

"Unacceptable…"

she murmured under her breath.

And yet—

her eyes still searched.

Instinctively.

Without permission.

From across the campus—

Kang watched her.

Standing casually near the stairs.

Hands in his pockets.

Expression calm.

But his mind—

was already moving.

Calculating.

Planning.

A faint smile appeared.

"Let's see…"

he whispered.

"…how far you'll go for me."

**[Corridor — 11:30 AM]**

The hallway buzzed with noise.

Students.

Voices.

Movement.

Normal.

But hidden inside that normal—

something was waiting.

Aeri walked past—

unbothered.

Until—

a sound broke through.

A dull thud.

Then another.

Her steps slowed.

Her eyes shifted—

toward the side corridor.

Half empty.

Half hidden.

And then—

she saw it.

Three boys.

Surrounding someone.

Pushing.

Laughing.

Mocking.

Her eyes narrowed.

Annoyance.

Disgust.

She was about to walk away—

until—

she saw the face.

Kang.

Her steps stopped.

Completely.

For a second—

she just watched.

He wasn't fighting back.

Wasn't stopping them.

Wasn't even reacting.

Just standing there—

taking it.

Her expression darkened.

What is he doing…?

Another shove.

Harder this time.

Kang hit the wall.

A low laugh echoed.

"Thought you were smart, huh?"

"Scholarship boy acting arrogant—"

Aeri moved.

Without thinking.

Fast.

Sharp.

Direct.

"Enough."

Her voice cut through the corridor.

Cold.

Deadly.

Instant silence.

The boys turned.

Confused.

Then—

nervous.

Kim Aeri.

Of course.

"W-we were just—"

"Move."

One word.

No emotion.

No room for argument.

They hesitated.

Just for a second.

But that second—

was enough.

Her gaze hardened.

And suddenly—

staying wasn't worth it anymore.

"…Let's go," one muttered.

They stepped back.

Then walked away.

Fast.

Without looking back.

Silence returned.

But it wasn't normal anymore.

It was charged.

Heavy.

Dangerous.

Aeri turned toward Kang.

Her eyes sharp.

"You just stood there."

Not a question.

An accusation.

Kang straightened slightly.

As if nothing had happened.

"I handled it."

Her jaw tightened.

"You call that handling?"

A step closer.

Too close.

"You didn't even try."

Kang looked at her.

Calm.

Unbothered.

"And you stepped in anyway."

A pause.

Then—

very quietly—

"Why?"

Aeri froze.

Just for a second.

Her answer didn't come.

Because she didn't have one.

Not a real one.

Her gaze shifted.

Annoyed.

"You were in my way."

A lie.

And they both knew it.

Kang stepped closer.

Closing the distance.

Again.

"You don't interfere for strangers."

His voice dropped.

"So what am I?"

Her breath stilled.

Her eyes locked onto his.

Sharp.

Dangerous.

"A mistake."

A pause.

"Don't make me repeat it."

Silence.

Tension pulled tight.

Unbreakable.

Kang's lips curved slightly.

But his eyes—

darkened.

"Too late."

**[Rooftop — Late Afternoon]**

The wind was stronger today.

Colder.

Sharper.

But neither of them seemed to feel it.

Aeri stood near the edge.

Looking out.

But not seeing anything.

Her mind—

wasn't quiet.

It replayed the corridor.

Again.

And again.

Why didn't he fight back…?

That wasn't weakness.

It didn't feel like weakness.

It felt…

intentional.

Her eyes narrowed.

"You planned it."

Kang's voice came from behind.

Calm.

Almost amused.

"Planned what?"

She turned.

Slowly.

Facing him.

But as she shifted—

her heel slipped slightly against the edge.

A small misstep.

Barely noticeable—

but enough.

Her balance tilted.

Just for a second—

her body leaned back.

Aeri's eyes widened—

sharply—

fully alert.

Not fear.

Instinct.

And in that same second—

Kang moved.

Fast.

Instinctive.

Almost too fast.

His hand shot forward—

grabbing her wrist—

pulling her toward him.

But the momentum wasn't enough.

So in the next second—

his other hand wrapped around her waist—

firm—

steady—

pulling her fully against him.

Holding her in place.

His grip tightened—

stronger than necessary.

For a second—

it tightened even more.

As if letting go—

wasn't an option.

Aeri's breath caught.

Her hands instinctively pressed against his chest.

Not pushing him away—

just… holding on.

For balance.

For a moment—

neither of them moved.

Too close.

Too sudden.

Too real.

The wind rushed past them—

but everything else—

fell silent.

Her eyes slowly lifted to his.

Wide.

Sharp.

But something inside them—

had shifted.

For a split second—

something flashed in Kang's eyes.

Not control.

Not calm.

Something sharper.

Gone just as quickly.

"You should be more careful."

His voice was low.

Closer than before.

Aeri's breath was uneven.

Just slightly.

But enough.

"You shouldn't have come that close."

A weak argument.

And they both knew it.

Kang didn't move.

Didn't loosen his hold immediately.

"If I hadn't…"

A pause.

"…you would've fallen."

Silence.

Heavy.

Aeri's fingers tightened slightly against his shirt.

Just for a second.

Then—

she pulled her wrist free—

and pushed him back.

Not harsh.

But enough to create distance.

"I don't need saving."

Her voice returned.

Cold.

Controlled.

But not as steady as before.

Kang watched her.

Closely.

"You didn't look in control just now."

Aeri's eyes sharpened.

"And you look too comfortable crossing lines."

A step toward him.

Measured.

Dangerous.

"You let them touch you."

A beat.

"Why?"

Kang stepped closer again.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Until the distance—

disappeared once more.

"Because…"

His voice dropped.

"…I wanted to see something."

Aeri didn't move.

Didn't step back.

"What?"

A pause.

Long enough—

to matter.

"Whether you'd come."

Her breath stilled.

That one second—

gave her away.

"You used yourself as bait."

Her voice was colder now.

But underneath—

something else moved.

Something unfamiliar.

Kang didn't deny it.

"Did it work?"

Aeri's eyes darkened.

"You think this is a game?"

He leaned in slightly.

"So far…"

A whisper.

"…you haven't walked away."

Silence.

Thick.

Dangerous.

Her hand lifted—

before she realized it.

Grabbing his collar.

Pulling him closer.

Not gentle.

Not soft.

"Don't push it."

Her voice dropped.

Low.

Deadly.

"But you're already pulling me in."

His words landed—

quiet.

But heavy.

Her grip tightened.

Just for a second.

Then—

she let go.

Stepping back.

Creating distance.

Finally.

But her eyes—

never left his.

"This doesn't change anything."

A lie.

Again.

Kang smiled faintly.

"As you wish."

But neither of them believed it.

**[Evening — Empty Corridor]**

The campus was quieter now.

Almost empty.

Aeri walked alone.

Her steps slower than usual.

Her mind—

louder.

She stopped.

Suddenly.

That feeling again.

Being watched.

She turned.

Nothing.

Empty.

Silent.

But—

she knew.

He was there.

Somewhere.

Watching.

Waiting.

And for the first time—

she didn't want it to stop.

That was the problem.

From the shadows—

Kang watched her.

Unseen.

Unmoving.

A small smile on his lips.

"Got you…"

he whispered.

Not because she didn't know—

but because she did.

And she still didn't walk away.

Because this—

was no longer control.

It was something deeper.

Something dangerous.

Something neither of them—

could stop now.
