"Danny, it's time to wake up." Kim said gently as she shook Danny's shoulder.
-
"Huh, okay." Danny said as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. "How long was I out?" He asked.
-
"Only a couple hours, I didn't think you wanted to sleep when we got there. We still have an hour." Kim told her boyfriend.
-
"Okay, thanks. Sorry if I drooled." Danny apologized. "Let me call my mom that we're close to home." He said as he pulled his phone out of his pocket, sounding tired as he did so. He pulled his mom up on his phone and she answered. "Hey mom, we're nearing the states, just wanted to let you know."
-
"Good to know. Did you sleep on the way here?" Maddie asked.
-
"Yes mother, I took a nap." Danny told his mother before Kim pulled his hand to have access to his phone.
-
"I have the pictures to prove it, in case you think he lied." Kim told Maddie. "He fell straight to sleep on my shoulder." She said, smiling at Danny.
-
"Good to know. Please send it to me or Jazz when you get the chance." Maddie said to Kim. "Jazz has outfits for you both to choose from, so come by our house when you can. You should probably talk to your parents soon as well, they didn't take learning about you asking my son out as soon as you left my house." She told Kim as they hit some turbulence.
-
"How did they find out?" Kim asked Danny's mother, glaring at Danny.
-
"Danny texted us about where the mission was going to be and added that you asked him out and asked for advice for clothing." Maddie told Kim. "Jazz told the twins, hoping to have the sibling teasing thing done, but the twins told your parents as soon as possible." She explained.
-
"Danny!" Kim whined at her boyfriend.
-
"I didn't know what to wear." Danny tried to defend himself.
-
"The proper social protocol is to go on a few dates first before telling your family." Maddie told her son. "That's what your dad and I did with our relationship." She said, sounding nostalgic. "Any breaks in your case on the ninja thief?" She asked the couple.
-
"One moment." Kim said to Danny's mother. Looking at Danny, who was looking into the middle distance.
-
"Yes, we found where the Jade Monkey and its matching set is." Danny said to his mother. "Think you can tell Phantom about them, I think it's ectoplasmic in nature." He said to his mother. "Have him meet Ron later to go and meet someone who can tell us more about the monkeys." Danny told his mother.
-
"I understand. The twins told us to remind you to get his signature for them." Maddie said to the duo.
-
"Thanks mom. I'm gonna call Jazz and see if she can tell me about the outfits she has planned." Danny told his mom.
-
"Okay, good luck on your date." Maddie said as she hung up the phone.
-
"I still can't believe you told your family about us dating." Kim said in a huff.
-
"Again, I didn't know what to wear." Danny tried to defend himself before calling Jazz.
-
"Put her on speaker phone." Kim said and Danny did so.
-
"Hey little brother, what's up?" Jazz asked as she answered the phone.
-
"We're nearing the states now. You're on speaker phone so Kim can join the conversation about what outfits you prepared." Danny told Jazz.
-
"Good to know. I have five outfits for each of you." Jazz said. "Kim, I don't know your size, but I mixed some of my old clothes and my current ones, they should fit, hopefully." She said to Kim. There was some conversation in the background, Danny's mother's voice being distinctly heard. "Mom just said that you have pictures of Danny sleeping, you better send them to me." Jazz said with an eagerness in her voice.
-
"Don't worry, I will. Why did you make me some outfits? I overheard Danny asking you last night, and he only said that you should make him some outfits." Kim said to Danny's sister.
-
"What can I say, I'm an overachiever." Was all Jazz could say to Kim. "You don't have to wear them." She said, "Sorry if I overstepped some bounds."
-
"It's fine, I'll just wear something from my own closet. I need to go home and do damage control after you let slip that I asked Danny out." Kim told Jazz. "My brothers' always do public teasing when it comes to the family. They were always gonna tell my parents." She told her.
-
"Sorry, I didn't know. I'll remember that next time." Jazz said, embarrassed at what she did.
-
"I hope there's not gonna be a next time." Kim said. "I'll let you talk to Danny alone about the outfits." She said to Jazz and Danny turned off the speaker phone.
-
"What kind of outfits did you have planned?" Danny asked his sister. There was movement heard as she went to the outfits. "Did I wake you up?" He asked in concern. "Sorry."
-
"You didn't wake me up, I was doing some homework for my college classes." Jazz told her little brother. "I looked up clothing styles from 1939 and found that teenage boys either wore suits or striped shirts with pleated trousers. I think we can change those to jeans." She said as Danny heard her open a door. "That's mostly what I had found that teenage boys wear. I couldn't find anything to match the time exactly." She sighed in defeat. "Hopefully we don't have to worry about people noticing the strangeness of your clothes." She told her little brother.
-
"We are going to a place where a whole lot of people are gonna be, I don't think we're gonna attract attention at all. Not unless we need to fight anyone." Danny said before cringing. "I just jinxed us, didn't I?" Danny asked.
-
"Sounds like it, but there wasn't anything in my research about ghosts or supervillains attacking the place, so we know it's not large scale." Jazz tried to calm her brother.
-
"That or there will be a media blackout about it." Danny countered, his anxiety getting to him. He internally wished that Scylla and Charybdis were here, but they were with Phantom watching Lord Fisk as he brought in the Jade Monkey.
-
"I doubt there would be a media blackout back then. But just in case, I'll prepare a satchel for you with ghost hunting equipment." Jazz said as the sound of hurrying played through the phone. "I'm gonna hop off while I do that. Call me when you land and are heading here." She said with a tone that left no room for debate.
-
"I will, don't worry." Danny told his big sister before she hung up.
-
"Do you want to check out the file some more?" Kim asked, seeing that Danny was off his phone.
-
"Totally!" Danny said excited for his date with the red head.
-
Danny and Kim talked about their date, using the cover of a history project, for the rest of the time it took to get to the landing strip for the plane.
-
'Danny, it's starting soon. I sent a clone to pick Ron up, but I'm staying here to record everything in case it's needed for a criminal case.' Phantom said through a telepathic message.
-
'Got it. We just landed, so we don't have to do it mid-air.' Danny sent a message back. Danny moved to wake Ron. Ron woke up screaming about monkeys. "Sorry to say this, but you need to meet with Phantom to talk about the Monkey statues. He'll be with you the whole time, so you don't have to worry about getting hurt." Danny told the blond human boy.
-
"Got it. Going to Monkey Fist's lair and getting the power to match him." Ron said groggily as he sat up in his seat.
-
"You sure that's a good idea? He still has a massive fear of monkeys." Kim said to the two boys.
-
"I don't think he will after we solidify his powers through meditation." Creos said from Kim's pocket.
-
Kim pulled Creos from her pocket. "What do you mean?" She asked the spirit in the device.
-
"I mean that my creator made mention of the Jade Monkeys and their effects on the mind. It shows them how to do Monkey Kung-Fu while they awaken their cores." Creos explained as they left the plane. "I think it will help Ron to go through the ritual, hell, maybe he'll become a monkey halfa and Danny doesn't have to be alone." They said to the group.
-
"So I could get ghostly powers?" Ron asked the spirit in the machine.
-
"Definitely." Creos confirmed as a car pulled up to them. Wade popped up on the communicator's screen.
-
"This is your ride home for the two of you. I overheard that Ron has his own business nearby." Wade said as the others nodded.
-
Danny turned to Ron. "You'll find Phantom in the alleyway that is on the right hand side five minutes from the exit of the landing strip." Danny told the blond human boy, who nodded and made his way to the meeting spot.
=
Kim and Danny rode in the car, making small talk when they pulled up to Kim's house. "I guess this is my stop. Where do you want to meet for the start of our date?" Kim asked her boyfriend.
-
"How about Bueno Nacho? You still owe me for the bet." Danny said with a smile.
-
"I got it. I'll text you when I'm ready to let you know to meet me there." Kim told Danny as she took some deep breaths. "Wish me luck with the damage control."
-
"Luck." Danny said, wishing her luck as she closed the door to the car and walked up to her front door. The car left to take Danny to his home. Danny called his sister. "Hey Jazz, I'm on my way home now. I should be there in a few minutes if there's no traffic." Danny told his big sister.
-
"Good to know. Your clothes just got done drying. I'll take them out and lay them on your bed." Jazz said as she audibly ruffled the clothing. "I was waiting for them, so they'd be ready when you got here."
-
"You didn't need to do that. I'm staying there for a bit while Kim does damage control with her family as well as get herself ready for the date. I'm gonna work with our parents on the portal." Danny told Jazz.
-
Danny spent the rest of the car ride talking to Jazz about small things like school and what inventions their parents will come up with next. "Oh, I think I heard mom call for me. Gotta go now, bye." Jazz said as she hung up the phone.
-
As the car stopped, Danny got out of the car. "Thanks for the ride, ma'am." He said to the driver.
-
"No problem. Kim helped me look for my pet puma before, this was the least I could do." The driver said before she drove away from Fenton Works.
-
"A puma? That can't be legal." Danny said to himself as he walked to his front door. He opened it to the sound of metal on metal. 'They must be working on something in the kitchen.' Danny thought to himself. Cujo ran up to him and grew to his larger form to lick Danny's face. "Down boy, you're too big for the living room." Danny told the ghost dog. Cujo jumped up and shrunk into Danny's arms. "Good boy. This is much better." Danny told the little green dog.
-
"Dann-o! Is that you?" Jack called out from the kitchen.
-
"Yeah, it's me." Danny called back. "Just got home from Cambodia." He told his father as he closed the front door.
-
"Right, you told your mother that a ninja took the statue you and Kim saved, right?" Jack asked his half dead son.
-
"That's partly right." Danny said as he went into the kitchen. "I couldn't tell her the real story as I wasn't alone when we were talking." He told his father as he was working on a new invention.
-
"What's the real story?" Jack asked his son. "I'm sure that a ninja was involved somewhere, did you fight it?" He asked, excited to hear about his son's exploits.
-
Danny chuckled at his father's excitement. "Yes there was a ninja and yes I fought him with Kim. Except the ninja was the person who called us in for the mission." Danny told his father.
-
"How does that work?" Jack asked, confused and stopping his work.
-
'He must be really invested if he's stopping his work to listen.' Danny thought to himself. "He wanted to throw our suspicion off of him by masquerading as a ninja to steal the Jade Monkey, but I always had my suspicion on him since we met because of my empath abilities, so I put a clone out to keep an eye on him after he 'stole' the Jade Monkey." Danny explained before looking into the middle distance.
"Right now, Ron and Phantom are confronting Lord Fisk in his castle. He seems to already know of the Infinite Realms and is starting to go mad." Danny told his father as Cujo jumped out of his arms. "I'm gonna go look at the outfits Jazz picked out for my date later today." Danny told his father.
-
"Okay, but you better come back and tell me the whole story, from beginning to end." Jack said to his half ghost son as he went to his room.
-
Danny reached his room just as Ron went in the center of the four Jade Monkeys and got blasted by energy. Danny decided to go simple with the striped polo shirt with a white undershirt and jeans. He found the satchel with his ghost hunting gear, including some stuff for Kim.
A portal opened over his bed and a Jade Monkey was pushed through. Danny grabbed it and placed it on the floor. Then another portal opened above Danny and another Jade Monkey popped out that Danny caught and placed on the floor next to the first one. This happened twice before the final portal opened and out came Scylla and Charybdis. Danny hugged the ectopi as they came through the portal.
Danny used his telekinesis to pick up the statues and carried them through his bedroom door and down stairs. When he saw his family in the kitchen he spoke up. "I'm putting these in the weapons vault for now. I'll look for a better place to put these later after my date." He explained as he made his way to the open weapons vault. Danny floated the statues to an empty corner of the vault and closed the vault door.
Danny turned around to find his family standing behind him. "I'll answer any questions you have later. Let me check out what you have designed for the portal." He told his parents.
-
"Your mother was working on the portal plans, I was working on new capture devices since we have employees now and need real, original, inventions to name. I'm making use of the spirit Skulker's 'bigger on the inside' technology to make the capture device smaller, while having a stronger suction since you said that some ghosts don't go in the thermos." Jack explained
-
"I was more prepared for the wires to not be exposed and have an insulated coating on them. I wanted to wait until you got home to go over the portal's schematics." Maddie said to her son.
-
"Okay, maybe we can have Tucker and Wade look them over as well? They are pretty good with tech and Tucker already familiarized himself with the portal schematics in the month I had my powers before I met Kim and started to fight ghosts." Danny said before chuckling. "Kim has brought so much excitement to my life since I met her." He said as he made his way to the lab.
-
"Danny, you still need to tell us the full story about those Monkey statues." Jack said as he pointed to the vault.
-
"The person who called Kim, Ron and I, a famous archaeologist named Lord Monty Fisk, wanted Kim to retrieve a Jade monkey from a monkey temple. After Kim and I did that, we stayed the night at his camp where I stayed up all night, unknowingly, and a ninja attacked the camp to steal the statue. The ectopi told me that it was Lord Fisk as I had them watching him the whole time. He did this to not be in the running of possible thieves." Danny started telling the shorter version as he walked into the lab.
"He got away using Monkey Kung-Fu to his advantage against Kim and me. I already had a clone of Phantom out, so he and the ectopi followed him after everyone left the camp. When they got to Lord Fisk's castle, it was found that he already had the other three statues. Phantom made another clone to go get Ron after we landed and they confronted Lord Fisk, who knew about the Infinite Realms, and he snapped." Danny continued the story as he pulled out the schematics for the portal.
"He led the Phantom clone and Ron to a secret passageway behind his fireplace where he held all the statues. He explained that he underwent genetic mutation and experimental surgery to become more monkey-like. He then went in the middle of the four monkeys and got blasted with their energy, saying that he was going to make me bow to his strength, ha. I goaded Lord Fisk, now naming himself Monkey Fist, into a fight and when he lunged at me I caught him and threw him to the side. Ron then went into the middle of the four monkeys and got blasted by a stronger energy and he and Monkey Fist started fighting and The original Phantom, the clone Phantom, Scylla, and Charybdis gathered the four monkey statues and portaled them to my room. They are talking to the police now. I guess this is Phantom's debut outside of Amity Park." Danny finished his story as he looked over the schematics for the portal.
-
"That's insane!" Maddie exclaimed.
-
"He was." Danny said to his mother. "That kinda fueled his whole obsession with monkeys and their power."
-
"Our obsessions didn't make us supernatural." Jack said.
-
Both Jazz and Danny looked at him with blank faces. "Yes we are. You surrounded us with so much ectoplasm, we have it seeped into our bodies. We even speak the language of the Ghosts and Spirits." Jazz told her father.
-
"Don't forget your son that died, the two ectopi as his familiars, and our pet ghost dog that changes size." Danny added to what his sister said. "The ectoplasm that seeped into my body is probably the only thing that saved me when I died, which is weird to say." Danny said to his father.
-
"Right. Forgot that for a moment." Jack said to his family.
-
"So you guys actually planned to have the on-off buttons inside the portal." Danny said, looking at the schematics for the portal. "Why?" He asked, confused as to the purpose of the placement. "I just thought you accidentally built it inside, but you purposefully built it inside the portal." Danny was starting to get mad, his eyes started to glow and the temperature in the room lowered quickly.
-
"Let me see that." Maddie said as she pulled it out of Danny's hands before they started to clench. "What the hell? Jack, why did we do this again?" She asked her husband.
-
"I don't really know, I just had the urge to put it inside, it was a little fuzzy sometimes when I worked on the portal." Jack said to his family, starting to shiver from the cold Danny was making the room to be. "I think it was, so ghosts didn't turn the portal off by themselves?"
-
"That makes no sense." Aranea said, scaring the humans.
-
"Aranea, what are you doing here?" Jazz asked, being the first one out of her mini freakout.
-
"I felt the rage of my master and came to tell him about a Guardian Challenge that would give him a realm in the Realms. And to try and calm him down before he killed anyone." Aranea said to Jazz.
-
"While that is good, it will have to wait until after my date. And the only people I might kill are my parents for killing me." Danny said through gritted teeth.
-
Aranea turned to Jazz. "If I may ask, what did I miss?" He asked.
-
"Kim asked Danny out on a time date after finding out the Blade of Velgalta can turn into a GPS that can tell her where and when a natural portal opens at. Also, our father purposefully built in the thing that killed my brother, claiming his mind was fuzzy when he did so." Jazz answered, mad at her father for halfway killing her brother.
-
"That sounds like overshadowing. A ghost or spirit probably wanted the button on the inside to kill whoever pressed it." Aranea told the group of humans.
-
"Is there a way to prove someone was overshadowed?" Danny asked, a little calmer and getting a ping on his communicator. Danny pulled it out and found it was from Kim.
-
"Yes, give me a moment and you'll have your answer." Aranea said to Danny as he held a glowing hand to Jack's head and spoke in an ancient language none of the Fentons knew. "Yes, he was overshadowed, I even recognize the energy, but it would be rather advantageous for you if you didn't know yet." They said to the Fentons.
-
"Alright, I believe you. I'm going to get changed for my date. Kim just texted me that she's heading to the meeting place." Danny said as he went intangible and flew into his room.
=
Danny was flying over the city as Phantom and landed near Bueno Nacho and transformed back into Danny. He ran out of the alley and towards the restaurant just as Kim was walking up to the restaurant herself. She was wearing a yellow long sleeved dress that just about reached her ankles.
-
"You look beautiful." Danny told her the moment he was right in front of her. He opened the door for her.
-
"And you look handsome yourself." Kim said as she walked through the open door, Danny following closely behind. "What do you want from here?" She asked as they sat down.
-
"Salad. You know, you could just give me the money and I'll get the food." Danny told Kim.
-
"No, I lost the bet. It's only fair if I get the food." Kim told Danny as she got up and went to the counter.
-
It wasn't long after Kim left that someone came to sit where Kim was sitting. It was Kitty and Johnny. "Hey Kid, have you thought about what we talked about yesterday?" Johnny asked.
-
"Yes, I'll do it, but could we meet at Sidney's place later, I'm kinda on a date." Danny told the blond ghost man.
-
"Ah sorry. We just saw you running in here and wanted to talk to you. We'll leave, thanks for doing it." Kitty said as she pushed Johnny out of the seat.
-
"Sorry little man, we didn't know." Johnny apologized as he left the restaurant.
-
'Hey Aranea?' Danny tried to see if he had a telepathic link with the spider samurai.
-
'Yes Danny?' Aranea responded.
-
'Is it possible to back someone with a clone? I have a ghost couple who gave me a rundown about backing that I didn't think to ask and the original me is a bit busy at the moment.' Danny asked through the telepathic link.
-
'Given backing someone just requires consent of both parties, you don't necessarily need to be the original to do so. But to do what you did to Sidney, you will need the original there. I don't know if that will be normal for you as you can turn human in two of your clones at the same time.' Aranea explained through the telepathic link.
-
'What I did to Sidney was a separate thing than the backing, I think. So I just need to give consent to the backing in either body or just do the connected meditation in my original body. Does that sound right?' Danny asked through the telepathic link just as Kim came with the two salads.
-
'That sounds about right.' Aranea said through the link as Kim sat down at the booth with Danny. 'Good Luck on your date, Danny.' They said as their presence left Danny's mind.
-
"What has you looking so serious?" Kim asked in a lighthearted, joking voice. She set the food down in the center of the table.
-
"Just talking with Aranea through my mind. I guess I have to practice not making it so obvious when I do it, huh?" Danny asked his girlfriend as she sat down.
-
"I guess so. What were you talking to him about?" Kim asked before she took a bite of her salad.
-
"You know about the two extra ghosts that helped Phantom at Axiom yesterday?" Danny asked, he got a nod from Kim. "Well, they want me to back them like I backed Sidney, but since the original is going on a date with you, only the clone is available. I didn't know if the clone could back them the same way, so I asked Aranea and he said part one can work with a clone, but part two needs the original." Danny explained to his girlfriend before he finally took a bite of his salad.
-
"That does sound complicated. Will they join you in hero work?" Kim asked.
-
"Only as backup. They just want to stay in the human world without the risk of being mind controlled." Danny told Kim as he continued eating his salad.
-
"Mind controlled?" Kim asked, concerned.
-
"I don't really know about that much, it's just what they said one of the benefits was." Danny told her to try and calm her down.
-
"Wasn't the person who attacked Axiom, had a mind control device or artifact?" Kim asked.
-
"Yeah, but that is for ghost and spirit animals that I totally forgot to put in the weapons vault." Danny said as he realized his mistake.
-
"Do you want to go and put it there now?" Kim asked, concerned for her boyfriend if someone bad got a hold of the artifact.
-
"No, we shouldn't be gone for too long on our date. Let's finish up here and get ready to go." Danny told Kim as he started to finish his salad. Kim finished hers as well and they left the restaurant.
-
Danny led Kim to the alleyway that he had landed in, and Kim made the Blade into a GPS and put in the time/place coordinates for the New York World's Fair in 1939. It pinged after she put it in. "Huh." Kim said as she read the gps.
-
"What? Did it not find a portal?" Danny asked.
-
"No. It found a portal, it's just here. In the alley." Kim said as she moved the GPS around until she stopped in front of a dumpster. "Move this." Kim ordered Danny. Danny followed the order and found a glowing green square portal under the dumpster.
-
"Huh." Danny said. "Convenient." He told Kim.
-
"Right? Anyway, let's get going. Did you bring a journal?" Kim asked Danny as he grabbed a hold of her.
-
"Yep. It's in my satchel along with some ghost hunting equipment and extra clothes for both of us." Danny said as he patted his satchel.
-
"All of that is in there?" Kim asked her boyfriend.
-
"Yeah, Jazz packed it and she is a master at doing it." Danny told his girlfriend. "Ready to go?" He asked as Kim held onto him.
-
"Yeah, let's go time traveling." Kim said as Danny made them invisible and they jumped through the portal.
-
The sensation of going through the portal was like taking a dunk in ice water but staying dry the whole time. When Danny and Kim left the portal on the other side, they were in a clearing surrounded by trees. Sounds could be heard in the distance. Danny flew them towards the sounds, staying invisible in case there were people around. There was one person with a Graphophone strapped to his back, looking in their direction. Neither Danny nor Kim noticed him though and just kept flying to where the sounds were coming from.
The sounds were coming from the amusement zone of the World's Fair. Danny and Kim took to the air over the park to find the entrance. Kim found the entrance and pointed Danny to it and the line of people wanting to enter the fair. Danny flew beyond the line, he stopped to look at the admission price and found a place where he could lift the invisibility off of him and Kim. When the invisibility was taken off, Danny and Kim made their way to the line to wait for their turn. Kim was already writing in her journal, which prompted Danny to write in his. All they wrote was about how long the line was.
-
"The place sounded so fun, right?" Kim asked.
-
"Yeah, I can't wait to go to the amusement zone." Danny told his girlfriend.
-
"I know. I really want to check out the perisphere." Kim told her boyfriend as they made it to the line.
-
"I want to check out the Robot thing I heard about." Danny said, starting to make a cover since they were nearing the line. Danny looked up at the line when he heard a fight happening. "Do we hop in and stop that fight?" He asked his girlfriend.
-
"No. This is our date, unless it needs superpowers or those ghost hunting devices in your bag, we are not going to do hero work." Kim told her boyfriend.
-
"Yes, dear." Danny said to his girlfriend, who blushed at his use of the word 'dear'. "But I'm sure you just jinxed us." He told his girlfriend.
=
Danny and Kim were talking about their hectic week, hoping that it won't always be this crazy. As they were talking, the line became shorter and shorter in front of them. They spent an hour in the line for the fair when they reached the admissions stand, they both had to pay 75 cents each, which would be about 17 dollars when they were from. Kim used her Blade as a wallet to get the correct money for the time zone. She paid 2 dollars and got 50 cents back. The teller grumbled to Danny about making the lady pay.
-
As the couple walked away from the admissions stand, Danny spoke up. "Maybe you should give me some money, so we don't attract some negative attention from you paying for everything. I don't want a target on your back."
-
"What do you mean by 'a target on my back'?" Kim asked as they made their way to the Perisphere line.
-
"I mean that there are probably gonna be some nefarious people who see you have so much money and think they can rob you. You said we weren't gonna do hero stuff, and fighting off robbers would technically be hero work." Danny explained to his redheaded girlfriend. "It would probably be the same for me if I have a bunch of money, but it keeps you safer than if it was you." He added so as not to anger Kim.
-
"That makes sense, I guess. I'll give you some after the Perisphere ride." Kim said as she reached out her hand to hold Danny's. "Just so we don't get separated." She said in explanation of her action.
-
"Unless I explicitly say that I don't want to hold your hand, you can reach for me anytime you want." Danny said to Kim. "No explanation needed." He added as the line started to move.
-
Kim smiled at Danny. "Since you said I jinxed our date, what do you think is going to happen?" She asked, writing in her journal about the suspense of waiting for the Perisphere.
-
"My guess is some type of revolutionary ghost or spirit will possess Electro and cause an attack." Danny told her. "That or some super-criminal wants to make a debut here and we need to fight them. Though I hope you leave it to me, since you are pretty famous where we come from." He said, squeezing her hand in his.
-
"Heck to that. If there's an attack here that requires us, then it will have both of us." Kim did a show of strength by squeezing Danny's hand as hard as she could. "People will just think that it's someone who looks like me, not actually me." She added as she eased up on her grip. "I understand your concern, but I have more actual experience than you at fighting supervillains." Kim added as the line started to move.
-
"I know, but I haven't seen you in action as much as Ron has, I can't help but be anxious over you." Danny told Kim, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb. "Now that my parents have allowed me to join you two, I can see your strength first hand and ease to my anxiety." Danny told her, looking down at his shoes as he did so. "I probably won't stop worrying about you, but it won't be as much now."
-
"I can't say it's not bad to hear that someone is worried about me. I always hear that people trust me to figure something out, but sometimes, I internally freak out at what is happening around me, and I just want someone to talk to about that without them judging me or making me stop." Kim rambled out. "I've never told anyone about that, you are really good for me."
-
"I hope so. Also, you can talk to me anytime you are freaked out about your missions. I will never judge you or tell you to stop because of it. Maybe some breaks every now and then, but never outright." Danny told her, grabbing her other hand and looking into her eyes.
-
"Thank you. I might try and fight you about those breaks, so you better have a good argument to go against me." Kim joked before chuckling at Danny's seriousness.
-
"I'll be sure I do before suggesting those." Danny nodded as the line started to move again. "Is there anything you want to talk about, mission wise?" Danny asked his girlfriend.
-
"Not now, and not here." Kim said. "But I will put my hat in the ring for what could happen here about the jinx." She said to her boyfriend.
-
"And what is that?" Danny asked with a smirk, letting go of one of Kim's hands.
-
"We will have to fight a mechanized dragon and meet with a local hero that helps us." Kim said with a sure nod. "That or The Box Ghost comes through the portal and tries to terrorize the fair." She added to have another guess, like Danny.
-
"I like the idea of a local hero. That might lead to a media blackout though." Danny said, smiling at Kim. "What kind of hero do you think they'll be?" He asked his girlfriend, who thought about it for a moment.
-
"They would probably be foreign, what with all the countries participating here. There could be a diplomat here that they have to guard or something, but they'll have something to give us to help them out. Like magical jewelry or something." Kim said after thinking, the line was getting closer to the entrance to the Perisphere.
-
"That seems fun. Now I kinda hope something happens here." Danny said to Kim as they got closer to the Perisphere's entrance.
-
"Yeah, maybe we'll have met them in the past, but our future, which is why he trusts us." Kim said with excitement in her voice.
=
The Perisphere held multiple layers to view democracity, the city of tomorrow. Danny and Kim stayed on the lowest layer to look at the city. They listened to the P.A. system talk about the city, talking about the architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux and how there were grass and trees along with stone and steel, calling it a symbol of life, but not a dream city.
The P.A. also talked about how clean Democracity would be compared to other cities. How it was a combined effort of city and country where kids can play in good, clean air. They also talked about how the center was government, business, and amusement buildings while beyond were farms, workshops, and mines and mills all dependent on each other.
It talked about when day fades into night, everyone seeks home for there were children and neighbors to be courteous about. About how the good life that would be lived in this well planned city. It talked about how man leaned on man as nation leaned on nation, united by thousands roads of commerce, art, and human aspirations.
How it was a brave new world ruled by united hands and hearts. How here brain and brawn, faith and courage, were linked in high endeavor as man marched on toward unity and peace. How to listen to them from office to farm to factory and how they sing in harmony.
Danny and Kim were writing all of it down in their journals, along with their own thoughts as they talked in hushed voices so as to not disturb the other viewers.
Kim wrote about how she liked how they planned on having unity be a part of it and was sad that it was never put to plan.
Danny on the other hand wrote that he didn't believe anything that was said was truthful and was just made as a way to make people invest in them for the money itself.
-
"I liked listening to the recording, but I didn't exactly believe the whole 'leading hand in hand with the people' part of the show." Danny told Kim. "It seemed really unrealistic." He added before she said anything.
-
"That's because you were seeing it from the point of view of someone from the future, not from the present here." Kim told Danny as she pulled him out of the Perisphere. "Now, what's next?" She asked her boyfriend.
-
"Well, I wanted to see Electro the Moto-Man earlier, but we can look at other things if we pass by anything interesting." Danny said to his girlfriend.
-
"Right, you said that while we were in Cambodia. Okay, let's head on that way." Kim said, still pulling on Danny's arm. Danny followed along like a puppy on a leash, earning some giggles from some passersby.
-
Danny stopped when his ghost sense went off, pulling Kim to the side. "I sensed a ghost. I'm gonna look around and find them really quick." He told her.
-
"No you're not. Unless this ghost or spirit decides to attack, then you can do some hero work, but until then, you're mine." Kim said, grabbing onto Danny's chin as she said that last bit. "Also, here's a hundred dollars for you so you don't get grumbled at making me pay for everything." She said, summoning the wallet form of the Blade and started pulling out one hundred dollars in the era correct one dollar bills. "I'll give you more if you run out." She told him as they started walking to the Moto-Man exhibit.
-
"Thanks, I didn't want someone to try hitting on you after seeing that I kept making you pay for everything." Danny told her, being dragged as he put the money in his pocket.
-
"It's no problem, Creos said that it had unlimited money and we didn't have the correct money for the era." Kim said nonchalantly.
-
"I still think I should check out the ghost or spirit." Danny said as they made it to Electro's exhibit.
-
"That's just your hero talking, trust me, it doesn't help to listen to that all the time." Kim said as she pulled Danny through the crowd in front of the exhibit.
-
"If you say so." Danny said as they reached the stage of the exhibit. Kim and Danny started writing in their journals about the exhibit and what the robot could do. Danny's ghost sense went off again, this time, Kim noticed it as well.
-
"There's a ghost nearby, let's hope they don't ruin the exhibit." Kim said to her boyfriend.
-
Just as Kim said that, a figure lunged at the robot on stage, and it grew in size and turned black with green accents. It also had glowing purple eyes, like Shadow had when he was mind controlled.
There were grumbles from the crowd, them thinking that the show wasn't happening, then the Ghostly robot then started blasting the crowd. That started to make the crowd scream and run in fear.
Danny and Kim made it into a side alley and Danny looked into his satchel and pulled out some of the items Jazz packed in there. Out came a blaster looking thing with a note that said 'For Kim. Have her give it a practice blast.' in Jazz's handwriting that he handed to Kim who followed the instructions.
The blaster traveled up her arm and across her body until it became a full body suit of armor around her form. It had the Fenton Ghost Logo on the chest and above the visor. Kim still blasted the blaster, and it gave off a strong blast. Kim chuckled at the feeling of the suit.
-
"I might just have to steal this." Kim said jokingly.
-
"I'm sure my parents can just give it to you if you ask." Danny told his girlfriend as he pulled out the thermos and another thing with a note. 'This is a ghost catcher, like a dream catcher, it separates ghosts and spirits out of whatever they possess.' in Maddie's handwriting. Danny pressed a button and it extended and grew a hoop with an ectoplasm green net mesh that came into existence. "This could work." Danny said before he transformed into Phantom
-
"Yeah, if we get that over the robot's head, we could probably suck it out with the thermos." Kim said as they were about to exit the alley. A green colored man wearing a green shield on his head jumped in front of them.
-
"Kim Possible and Danny Phantom." He said and he raised both of his hands in peace. "I come with the intention to help you fight this ghost."
-
"How do you know our names, we're not even from this era." Kim asked, pointing the blaster at the green man.
-
"Because we have met before. Or we will have met in your future. I am Wang Fu." The green man, Wang Fu, introduced himself and pulled out two boxes from his back pocket. "Kim Possible, this is the miraculous of the ladybug, it has the power of creation and can set everything right, after you are done, you are to return this to me, the guardian of the miraculous. Danny Phantom, This is the miraculous of the rooster, it has the power to give yourself any power that is not of the other miraculous, after you are done, you are to return this to me, the guardian of the miraculous." Wang Fu gave his speech twice as Kim and Danny took the boxes from his hands.
-
Danny opened his box and a bright light flew out of the box and turned into a floating living chicken plush. "Hello. I am Orikko. I am the kwami of pretension. I give you the power of sublimation, the ability to give yourself almost any power." The chicken plush, Orikko, said to Danny.
-
"Can you give me the power to grow and shrink anything I touch?" Danny asked, already coming up with a plan.
-
"Yes I can. I sense you already have a plan, just put on the thumb ring and call out 'Orikko, Sunrise.' and you'll transform into a rooster based superhero." Orikko said to their current master.
-
"I'll wait until Kim opens her miraculous box." Danny said as he put on the thumb ring, it turned ecto-green on his thumb.
-
Kim opened her miraculous box and a red glowing light spun around her and turned into a red fairy with a single black spot on their forehead. "I am Tikki. I am the kwami of creation. I give you the power of 'Lucky Charm' which makes a special object that requires you to use your brain to defeat the villain." The red fairy, Tikki, said to Kim.
-
"Do I have any control over what I get?" Kim asked the red kwami.
-
"No, I'm sorry, but it should become the object that will give you the victory." Tikki told the red head.
-
"So it could just be a coin that I flip after Danny's plan succeeds?" Kim asked, to which the kwami nodded. "Your power is complicated." Kim told Tikki.
-
"Sorry." Tikki apologized. "Just put in the earrings and say 'Tikki, Spots on.' and it'll transform you into a ladybug themed hero." Tikki said to their current master.
-
"Okay. Danny, are you ready to transform?" Kim asked her boyfriend as she put in the earrings.
-
"Yeah, just let me put the ghost catcher down first." Danny said as he leaned the ghost catcher against a wall. "Okay. 3,2,1, Go! Orikko: Sunrise!" Danny said and Orikko flew into the thumb ring and a suit of orange red, and a bluish green formed around him, before becoming its negative color pallet. It didn't give him a mask.
-
"Tikki: Spots on!" Kim said and Tikki flew into one of the earrings and a suit formed that was red with black spots. It seemed to meld with the Fenton suit Kim had on, along with the blaster. The visor became solid black.
-
"Okay, that felt weird. Let's go get the tech ghost and get back to our date." Kim said as she ran past Wang Fu and out of the alley, Danny not far behind her.
-
"My ghost sense says it's this way." Danny said as he picked up Kim and flew off into the direction of the machine ghost. They left Wang Fu behind in the alley and didn't care.
-
The ghost in the machine was rampaging towards the amusement zone. Saying that it should have been him that demonstrated his technology at the fair. People were running away, but the ghost in the machine seemed to avoid blasting people, almost deliberately if Danny thought anything. Danny landed with Kim not far from the ghost in the machine.
-
"Hey tin can! Why are you doing this?" Kim yelled at the ghost in the machine.
-
"I worked on a piece of technology, and it was destroyed by the people who built this piece of metal." The ghost gestured to his robotic body. "I could have revolutionized the technological industry. I just wanted to be important in the tech world." The ghost in the machine broke down metaphorically and sat on the ground.
-
Danny could sense sincerity in the ghost's words. Danny wanted to help the ghost. "Does it have to be the Fair? Could you work somewhere else that is ghost friendly that could use a good technology master?" Danny asked the ghost.
-
"I guess. But what self-respecting scientist even believes in ghosts?" The ghost in the machine asked the half dead ghost boy.
-
Kim realized what Danny was doing. "Paranormal scientists. We come from the future where we work for people who want to know as much as they can about ghosts and the Infinite Realms." Kim explained from behind her mask.
-
"Really? There be scientists like that in the future?" The ghost in the machine asked as Danny and Kim walked closer to them.
-
"Yeah, they're my parents. I'm a halfa that was made when they built an artificial portal. My father was overshadowed to put the on button inside the machine." Danny explained to the ghost in the machine.
-
"Would you take me to them?" The ghost in the machine asked. "My name's Nikolai Technus by the way." They introduced themself.
-
"Nice to meet you. I'm Phantom and this is my girlfriend Kim. We were on a date when you interrupted it, but we can take you to my parents if you can wait until we're done." Danny said to Nikolai. "We also can't take the Moto-Man with us, and you'll have to wait inside a thermos while we are on our date as punishment." He told the ghost in the machine.
-
"I am amicable to this arrangement, assuming this thermos is an invention meant to capture ghosts." Nikolai said to the half dead ghost boy. "But I cannot leave this robot of my own will, it will either need to be destroyed or if you have a device to separate ghosts and spirits from things that they possess?" Nikolai asked the duo, where Danny pulled out the ghost catcher and the thermos.
-
"I have both of these devices that do what you just said. I'll need to shrink you first though. Don't worry, I'll be able to regrow you after I'm done." Danny told Nikolai, who nodded at Danny's words. Danny picked up his quill that he instinctively knew that it was needed and said. "Sublimation! I give myself the power to grow and shrink anything or anyone I touch." He glowed for a moment and when the glow subsided he touched Nikolai and shrunk him to the size of an action figure.
-
As Danny shrunk Nikolai, Wang Fu caught up to the hero couple, he was out of breath. He was going to say something, but Danny lowered the ghost catcher to Nikolai and the shrunken ghost in the machine walked through, a human sized ghost came out of the other end of the ghost catcher while a small robot came out as well.
-
"That was convenient." Danny said, looking between Nikolai and the shrunken robot. Kim then sucked Nikolai into the thermos and they were done.
-
"I didn't even need to use my Lucky Charm." Kim said as she pulled out her yoyo and threw it into the air calling out "Lucky Charm!" As she predicted, she got a coin that she then threw in the air yelling. "Miraculous Ladybugs." Said ladybugs raced around the fairgrounds, fixing everything, including the shrunken robot. After all the ladybugs disappeared, Danny's thumb ring started to beep.
-
"You two are about to transform back. Go to an alley and return to me the miraculous." Wang Fu said to the hero couple and they followed his advice, going into a nearby alley and taking off their miraculous and coming out to give them to him, Danny still being Phantom and Kim still in the battle suit. "You were supposed to wait there for me." He said as he accepted the miraculous.
-
"You didn't say that." Danny told the green man, who just sighed at Danny's words.
-
"It was implied." Wang Fu said to the teen ghost boy.
-
"Does it matter? Just get on with your life and let us get on with our date." Kim said as she removed the armor from her person and Danny transformed back into a human after seeing that nobody was around. "We were having such a wonderful time before Nikolai came by to ruin it. I just hope they don't cancel this. I wanted to check out some of the shops." She said to the old man.
-
"I apologize. I forgot that this would be the first time you two would work with me. I trust that we will become closer after a few adventures." Wang Fu told them as he de-transformed and had a graphophone on his back. A green fairy with a turtle shell appeared before Kim and Danny.
-
"I am Wayzz. Pleasure to meet you." The green fairy, Wayzz, greeted the two teen heroes.
-
"If that is all, I believe that my girlfriend said she wanted to check out the shops here." Danny said as he wrapped an arm around Kim's waist and they walked towards the shopping area.
=
Thankfully, the Fair wasn't going to close because of the attack. It also seemed that the amusement zone area was the only place people were avoiding for the meantime. Danny and Kim did a bunch of window shopping before Kim decided to start buying stuff after Danny whispered that she had unlimited money.
While Kim was shopping, Danny was carrying the bags. He saw a jewelry shop and sent a clone to purchase Kim a piece of jewelry as a sign that he loved her. The clone chose a ladybug brooch because he thought it was funny because of the miraculous she wielded. He also got a rooster necklace because he wanted to have the memory with Kim and the miraculous he wielded.
The clone put the necklace and brooch in the original's pockets invisibly and merged back into him. Kim was none the wiser when Danny was done with it. They spent a couple of hours shopping, with Danny carrying more and more bags. Kim didn't just shop for her, she also shopped for Danny, Ron, Wade, the Fentons and her family. She planned to give them their presents during the week.
They started to leave the Fairgrounds when the sun started to set, and they realized that they spent most of the time shopping and not checking out the amusement zone. Kim was upset because Danny said he wanted to check it out, but Danny said that they could always try to come back another time.
This evened out Kim's emotions, and she made her Blade into a GPS and typed in the space time coordinates, and it took them to New York City in the sewer system. Danny kept them flying and intangible as they walked through the portal, which had the same icy feeling as the last portal.
The portal let them out at their school and Danny made a portal to his house in Sidney's realm where his clone and Ron were. When they popped in at the same time as Sidney, Kitty, and Johnny walked through the door. Danny the original put the bags down in the ghostly version of the Fenton's kitchen.
-
Johnny walked into the kitchen after Danny. "Hey man, I thought you were going on a date with your girl?" He asked the half dead ghost boy.
-
"I did. Kim has an artifact that allows her to see where and when a natural portal goes and we just spent the greater part of the day at a festival." Danny told the blond biker ghost.
-
"Lucky, I wish I could have that kind of artifact." Johnny said as the two boys went out of the kitchen.
-
Everyone was watching as Ron struggled as he lay on the couch. He seemed paralyzed in his whole body, but neither Phantom could sense any pain from him. Danny was about to disperse the clone when Ron opened his eyes.
-
"How are you feeling, Ron?" Phantom asked Ron as he woke up and sat up on the couch. The group of four ghosts and two humans looked at him from across the couch.
-
"Don't tell me that I ruined your date today?" Ron ignored Phantom's question and asked the couple that were his friends.
-
"No, we just got back." Danny told Ron. "I was just about to disperse the clone when you woke up." He said.
-
"Oh, that's good. How long was I out?" Ron asked as Danny dispersed the clone Phantom.
-
"Only an hour." Danny informed Ron.
-
"Okay, it felt longer. Did you two only go on your date for an hour?" Ron asked the half dead boy.
-
"No, we were actually there for a greater part of the day. We had to use two different portals to get back to this time period." Kim told her best friend. She took a picture of Ron and showed him what he looked like.
-
Ron had blue fur, almost glowing in its etherealness, he was six feet tall and had a long tail. Ron pulled at his tail and felt it through his spine. "I hope this isn't permanent." Ron said as he let go of his tail.
-
"Try flexing your core and focus on your human appearance. That's how I changed between my human and ghost forms when I first got my powers after the accident." Danny suggested.
-
Ron did as Danny suggested and flexed his core. Two rings formed at his center, and they went up and down respectively, turning him completely human, he still had the height. "I guess I finally got my growth spurt." Ron quipped as he looked down at himself. "I don't still have a tail do I?" He asked and he turned around.
-
"No, don't worry." Danny assured Ron. "Did you get any information on your new powers?" He asked as he sat down with Sidney.
-
"A lot of information. Especially about the monkey kung-fu the statues were supposed to give." Ron said.
-
"Good. That means our whole group has spectral abilities. But you can decide if you want to keep it a secret or not." Danny told Ron.
-
"I'm keeping my weapon a secret, if you're gonna ask me." Kim told Ron.
-
"Then I'll keep my powers a secret as well." Ron declared to the group of mostly ghosts. "I'll need to go clothes shopping." He stated the obvious.
-
"That you do, my man." Johnny said. "I can help you pick out some rockin' clothes." He offered to the blond half human/half monkey halfa.
-
"Does he count as a 'halfa'?" Kitty asked.
-
"If we're going on our sense of spiritual energy, yes, but he isn't dead." Sidney said to the green haired ghost girl.
-
"I wouldn't mind being called a halfa." Ron said to the group, knowing that it's a huge decision.
-
"Then a halfa you shall be. I don't want to be the only confirmed halfa." Danny told the blond human. "You are half human and half monkey now."
-
"Right on." Ron said to the group of ghosts.
-
"I don't think Ron could pull off a biker look." Kim said as she apprised Ron's new height.
-
"I would make sure that Johnny doesn't go overboard with the style and picks out other clothes. He doesn't show it much, but he is quite the fashionista." Kitty told the group.
-
"Babe." Johnny whined at his girlfriend. "They don't need to know that." He told Kitty.
-
"Sorry babe, but it's true. You even made my outfit." Kitty revealed to the group.
-
"Really? I might just have to have him pick out some clothes for me." Kim said as she apprised Kitty's outfit.
-
"I don't know how I feel about doing another girl's outfit, especially if she's already in a relationship." Johnny said nervously, looking over at Danny.
-
"I trust you both not to do anything reckless or something that would jeopardize either of our relationships." Danny told the blond biker ghost. "It would be nice to know that a ghost I trust is with her if she gets attacked by another ghost while clothes shopping, like when the Box Ghost did earlier this week." He said to the group.
-
"He did what?" Kitty asked, furious at the portly blue ghost.
-
"Yeah, he trashed my favorite clothing store, Club Banana, a few days ago while I was with my friends." Kim told Kitty, not knowing what was going to happen to the portly blue ghost after Kitty was going to do what she was going to do.
-
"I'm gonna kiss him into oblivion!" Kitty yelled, the only thing not having her storm off was Johnny's hand on her arm.
-
"You can do that after we get our backings." Johnny told his girlfriend, who glared at him before calming down.
-
"Okay, but I will do it. He's not stronger than me." Kitty said as she took some deep breaths.
