The south staff gate opened while the freight yard's staff bell was still ringing. Martin watched a gray-coated man step onto the public road with a narrow case tucked beneath his elbow. Two workers followed him out, carrying empty meal tins toward the water stand.
Alexandra turned the preserved image toward the nearest warden.
"That is the other technician."
The image showed him beside the surge gate, holding his case against his chest while Iven knelt at the disposal cradle. His face matched the man now walking past Rivergate's outer wall. The warden checked it, then touched the stop order on her slate. Its authority had arrived before dawn: the identified courier, the case-linked staging register, and the public route outside the yard.
She waited until he cleared the gate before stepping into his path.
"Endless Rain freight wardens. Set down the case and show your hands."
