Rangar remained quiet for several seconds after Mireva finished, then folded his arms.
"So what do you want from me?"
Martin looked toward Mireva. He could have answered, but he did not.
Mireva noticed and stepped forward. "We want to inspect Forest Hidden as a possible temporary refuge."
Rangar looked around them. "You are already inside it."
"For a delegation."
"That is different."
"Yes."
Mireva did not rush the explanation. "Not every Sairren would come here. Nobody has decided to move permanently. Some may refuse temporary shelter even if Forest Hidden accepts us."
The elderly woman beside her added, "Those people remain in the Belfry."
Rangar looked toward Martin. "Did you promise them space?"
"No."
"Did you tell them I could approve this?"
"No."
"Did you tell them Forest Hidden would say yes?"
"No."
Rangar stared at him suspiciously.
Martin frowned. "What?"
"That was surprisingly responsible."
"I'm offended."
"You should be proud."
