The moment Martin logged out, his phone started vibrating across the bed. Katherine was calling.
He stared at her name for half a second before answering. Her face filled the screen, framed by long crimson hair that curled over one shoulder. She wore a loose black robe, and the neckline sat low enough to pull his gaze downward before he caught himself.
"Headphones," she said.
Martin blinked. "What?"
"Put them on, sit back, and give me your full attention. You promised to learn more about me."
"I don't remember promising that."
"You logged out when I told you to. That counts."
Martin snorted, but he put on his headphones and leaned back against the wall behind his bed.
"Good boy."
The praise went straight between his legs. Martin tried not to react, but Katherine caught the slight tension in his face immediately.
"Oh?" She rested her cheek against one hand and studied him through the camera. "I told Alex you would like that, but even I didn't expect it to work so quickly."
