Chapter 92 - Tale #91: The Massacre

"Hah! No, kid. I've still got a long road before I reach that peak. It might even take me another decade of blood and sweat just to see that wall. The higher you climb, the thinner the air gets. Advancing becomes an agonizing crawl. And There's also that..."

"That?" I asked, smelling an important piece of information.

"You Sure look curious. kid," He scoffed and turned to look to the front "There is a certain Skill that few people have that increases the chance of Reaching the EX-rank. But I and Vivi do not have it. So, we don't know if we'll ever reach that peak"

"A skill? Which one is it?" I asked, wondering if I have this legendary secret key skill.

"A skill that One is Born with and can't be acquired. Now, Enough chit-chat," He said but perhaps sensing my intention to not drop the topic, He added "I will tell you about it another day"

"How do people break wall again ?" I asked changing the Subject.

"There's no instruction manual," The Warrior shrugged "There is no definite way, some people break wall when they realize something about themselves or about their technique. Some people do that by improving their technique. I've even seen a man break his C-Rank wall in the middle of a Boss fight just by the sheer, desperate need to survive."

I see. Breakthrough in the middle of Boss fight huh... Seems like a scene straight out of a Shonen Manga. That man must be a Chosen One.

I wonder how I will deal with my C wall. Given how much of a Genius I am, I might not even face one.

A small group of a dozen green goblins appeared. Licking their lips, scratching their short daggers to the ground as if to Sharpen It.

Their black eyes gleaming with a predatory light as if they had finally found the prey they have been looking. Unaware of the fact that they have delivered themselves to the hunters.

-Krieek! Screech!

Are they dumb? I mean, these dungeon goblins do seem dumb but, Doesn't their senses warn them of the danger?

Regardless, The Goblins didn't have the sense to run. Perhaps the dungeon mana had rotted their instincts along with their logic. They moved in, circling us like a pack of starving dogs.

The Strong Brave Warrior Boran looked at the Goblin bunch and rumbled "Let me show you Something really cool, Kid."

He stepped forward, his hands still relaxed at his sides. He didn't draw a blade. He didn't even chant a spell. He just took heave steady steps.

Is he gonna show off ? Now ? Well, it does seem like a perfect stage

Suddenly the atmosphere became a bit heavy. As if it solidified.

I felt a slight heaviness in my chest, like the air had suddenly become as thick as water. But Compared to the goblins, what I felt was Nothing. for the Goblins, the effect was catastrophic. Their snarling faces twisted into expressions of pure, unadulterated terror.

Their movements became sluggish and slow, as if they were trying to run through wet cement and eventually they stopped and Dropped on their knee, their small frames trembling under an invisible weight. One by one, their daggers escaped from their Grip which had turned weak and clattered to the stone floor.

-Clang! Clang!

How do i put it? It is quite a ...pitiful sight to behold. Even if they are Goblins.

It's As if Some invisible weight was weighing on them, some Debuff or Gravity magic has been casted on them. But that could not be any further than the truth.

I know this move very well. It is...

"So, that's Mana Pressure, huh ?" I asked genuinely amazed

"Yeah, kid. And you're gonna learn it right now. You have more than enough mana for it. And..." He looked at the kneeled goblins, a dangerous smirk playing on his lips "We have The perfect targets for you to practice it on"

Mana pressure, also known as Spiritual pressure in Xianxia Cultivation world from the stories of my past life.

It's basically a move to put invisible pressure or to assert Dominance on someone who is significantly weaker than you, by doing nothing but just applying a little bit of mana control. You aren't attacking their bodies; you're attacking their very will to exist.

In the game of MAS, teachers used to use this trick often to silence the students.

Yes, students who are not disciplined and chaotic, They exist even in this world.

Hu... Well, What can be done. Calm, disciplined and obedient Students like me are Quite rare, after all.

"Although because of the smaller strength difference, your pressure won't be of much use here, it will still be something and it's a good crowd control skill to have. Not to mention, you can shut some ignorant stupid people up by just standing there, when you start your career" Boran explained with a savage smile " And trust me when I tell ya, There are a lot of lousy Know-it-all trashes in the vast world. the world is full of people who talk too much shit"

Well, you sure seem experienced in that field.

"Now, Go and cut them down" The warrior commanded.

"Aye aye captain." I took out my sword as I took steps forward towards the helpless goblins crowd.

-kuak! scree!

It wasn't a fight, it was a harvest, a one sided Massacre. One by one, I moved through the row of kneeling monsters. My blade moved in clean, silent arcs. I cut them down. heads fell one by one.

-Thud! thud!

The grey stone of the floor was repainted in a dark, visceral green. They didn't even resist, They couldn't. They were helpless as the heads of each of their friends fell with each passing second. They just shouted. I didn't get much EXP either. After all, Exp is proportional to Contribution and The highest contribution belongs to Boran the Great.

-kuak! scree!

If these were Not Goblins and were people instead, I would quite a lot of pity for these guys. Helplessly staying seated waiting to have their throat cut as they see their The life of their friends end. Must be quite Hard and Cruel.

Regardless, The Massacre ended when the head of the Last Goblin touched the blood soaked Green floor. It ended.

****

After that, I learned mana pressure. It did not take too much time. As expected of the Great genius Me.

We continued our journey ahead. Most of the goblins, regardless of group or individuals, were dealt with by me. I used those as my test subject for my New Skill.

I'd drop the pressure on them, watch them slow down, and then finish them with a Zes-infused strike. My EXP bar—or whatever would probably be quite filled, given the amount of notification I have gotten.

My mana pressure could only make their movement a bit sluggish. But it was quite useful regardless.

In the end, we reached a portal gate at the end of the corridor—a shimmering curtain of mana slightly smaller than the dungeon entrance.

We entered the portal and ended up in a small Semi-circle shaped room carved from smooth, pale stone..

"Alright. Take this time to restore your mana, Ty" Vivi Instructed, leaning against the wall..

"Yes"
