"Boss, you're really funny…"

Miya pressed her lips together, smiling a little awkwardly. Not needing air conditioning in summer was one thing—but electricity bills weren't even her concern in the first place.

"So, Boss," Lucas said, staring at the "ice cream" displayed in the Pokédex with obvious interest, "this really is an Ice-type Pokémon, right?"

It looked way too much like ice cream.

And Ren's earlier joke had instantly made him think of Ice-type attributes.

"That's right," Ren nodded with a smile. "This is Vanillite, an Ice-type Pokémon. Pretty cute, isn't it?"

He gave a brief introduction. Pure Ice-type Vanillite really did have a delicate, adorable appearance.

"And Vanillite isn't just cute—it also has very good potential. Among Ice-type Pokémon, it's considered quite strong."

Its final evolution, Vanilluxe, had a total base stat well over 500 in the games. It definitely wasn't weak.

"Then… I want it, Boss."

Miya blinked.

As a girl, who didn't have a soft spot for something like this?

"Please wait a moment."

Ren smiled, nodded, and walked toward the back room.

Not long after, he returned—with a small Pokémon floating behind him, curiously looking around.

"So cute!"

Miya's eyes lit up instantly as she stared at Vanillite.

It could actually float. It really looked like a creature straight out of Western fantasy.

"This is Vanillite," Ren said, turning slightly and pointing toward Miya. "From now on, this young lady will be your Trainer. Get along well with her."

"Vani~"

Vanillite drifted forward, speeding up slightly, and stopped right in front of Miya. Its big eyes stared at her as it made a soft, gentle sound.

"H-Hello, Vanillite…"

Miya's heart skipped a beat as it suddenly came so close. She forced herself to calm down and greeted it softly.

Up close, it was even cuter.

Vanillite was very small—only about forty centimeters tall. It looked like a swirl of vanilla ice cream, with icy-blue pupils and a naturally warm-looking smile at the corners of its mouth. Its lower body was shaped like a sharp icicle, with two tiny arms formed from ice crystals on either side.

"Vani~ Vani~"

After staring at Miya for a moment, Vanillite's eyes curved into crescents, and it let out a happy cry.

Its voice was soft and sweet, instantly melting Miya's heart.

"So cute… Vanillite!"

She finally couldn't resist and gently held it with both hands.

A cold sensation surged into her palms immediately, making her shiver.

Good grief—so what the boss said about not needing air conditioning in summer was actually true?!

"Vanillite is an Ice-type Pokémon," Ren said calmly as he walked over. "It naturally prefers low temperatures, and its body temperature is very cold. You'll need to get used to that."

"Of course, it's also very considerate. If it senses discomfort, it'll actively suppress its cold."

As he spoke, Ren began handing items to Miya one by one.

"These are Ice-type energy cubes. New customers get two boxes for free. This is the New Trainer's Manual—you can find a lot of basic Pokémon knowledge in it."

"As one of the first ten customers, you'll also receive two commemorative Poké Balls. Mr. Lucas should've already told you how to use them."

"And finally—this is a Pokédex. Would you like one?"

Ren raised the red Pokédex and asked with a smile.

"Of course," Miya said immediately, still turning the commemorative Poké Ball in her hand. "I definitely need one."

A Pokédex was practically essential for understanding Pokémon.

"The Pokédex is 500 yuan," Ren said, smiling. "And Vanillite is 200,000 yuan."

"Okay."

Miya took out her bank card without even trying to bargain.

She thought it was completely worth it.

Looking at Vanillite floating happily beside her, Miya couldn't help smiling.

Such a magical, adorable little creature.

No matter how she looked at it, Vanillite didn't resemble a normal animal at all—it felt more like a pure elemental being.

The first thing Miya did after receiving the Pokédex was point it at Vanillite.

Beep—

Vanillite. Ice-type. Fresh Snow Pokémon.

Ability: Snow Cloak.

Moves: Harden, Astonish, Taunt, Rock Slide.

Born from icicles bathed in the morning sun's energy, it becomes a Pokémon. It buries itself in snow and sleeps.

"That's amazing…"

Listening to the Pokédex's explanation, Miya stared at Vanillite in wonder.

Was it really born from an icicle?

"Looks like the Pokémon found a good home," Ren said with a smile. "That's the best outcome."

"Yes, I really like it. Thank you, Boss."

Miya pursed her lips, smiled, and gave Ren a very formal bow.

Ren froze for a second, then waved his hands hurriedly.

"Please don't do that—this is just business."

Good grief. He was running a shop, not doing charity work.

"That's just how Miya is," Lucas said with a chuckle. "She's capable at everything—she's just a bit too serious."

Miya shot Lucas an annoyed look, but didn't argue. After all… he wasn't wrong.

"By the way," Lucas added casually, "I've already pulled you into the group chat. And since you're here—want to try a battle with my Aron?"

He glanced at Vanillite with interest.

This was probably the first Ice-type Pokémon anyone had drawn so far. He was curious about its moves—and he also wanted to test Aron's Steel-type techniques.

Ren's expression turned a little strange.

A freshly obtained Aron versus a freshly obtained Vanillite?

"Battle…"

Miya hesitated.

She had watched those videos online, but she wasn't sure she could do it properly.

Vanillite was so cute… and Aron was a little steel beast.

If Aron charged into it—would Vanillite shatter into pieces?

Thinking that, Miya glanced at Aron, who was still happily chewing energy cubes.

Her expression gradually became… complicated.

…Actually.

Maybe she could try it?
