Chapter 56 - Own Deaths

Then the surface below them seemed to be moving like waves, as if it was water. None of them noticed it before it was too late. A black eye erupted from it.

"What is this?" The light tried to stab it. It climbed up onto a lightrozer's body. Now they wanted to stab the black eye that was also part of the angel's army. The lightrozer attempted to throw it off, but it was too fast. It injected itself into the lightrozer's eye, traveling to his brain until it grew inside there, forming a shield over the brain.

"Does anyone want to try? Do it fast. You are wasting my time." The angel put her hand on her waist, not being patient with anyone.

Before they could be pulled by the angel's voice, the lightrozer began to say something that was completely unrelated.

"You know what, I am taking him with me." He pointed at himself as "he and him" the eye angel had taken control of him. "I will free all his sins."

He pulled his sword out.

"What are you...?" The lightlinger beside him was about to say something but was cut off when the lightrozer slashed his own neck. The angel that had taken control of him died along with him.

A lightrozer who was at the entrance of the Sold Area exhaled, trying to calm himself. She teleported behind the angel, who was still standing and waiting. She didn't even try to dodge, even though she had sensed her presence from far away.

She did not attempt to slash the angel's neck. Instead she used her other outline the green one.

"Flowers Paradise." Then she dashed away.

Roots began to erupt from the ground, climbing up trees, then flowers.

"You are killing your own allies. Such a waste." The angel pierced her right fist straight through the lightrozer woman's chest. Yet the lightrozer attempted to slash the angel's neck, not wanting to fall without doing anything.

The angel ended the lightrozer's life before she could feel any more of the world, then shifted toward the remaining lights.

The roots had grown wide, beautiful flowers releasing an unavoidable smell that seemed to neglect the current situation. However, the lights there were stabbing each other while being happy about it.

"I had said you are just killing your allies by using Flowers Paradise." The angel sighed deeply before turning to go somewhere. She did not end their lives; instead she let them kill themselves because that would have disturbed the mind control.

"I don't want to get affected by that. Where's Six Wings?"

Six Wings one of the angels moved as Heavenly Kaatoumo came into her sight. There were many lights alongside some darkened beings guiding it.

The angel ended all of them in the blink of an eye. Their bodies fell before they could register what had just happened. There was no one left in the courtyard.

"If there is no one here, then what were they guiding?" The angel moved inside in confusion, opening every door of the rooms, yet no one was there until now.

Then she tried to push one door inside. It was locked from the inside.

"Who's there?"

The door opened. As soon as her foot moved forward, she was back outside again. The door closed. She pushed the door again and once more she was back, the door closed.

"Someone is inside and I am sure they have a cosmic outline."

She pushed the door again but the result was the same.

Then the angel felt a really strong presence beside her.

As she turned, there was no one.

"This confirms my prediction. They have a cosmic outline. I couldn't reach inside. I will keep looping. I don't have any choice but to leave them. They are smart."

The angel stepped outside Kaatoumo, yet she did not leave. Instead she went behind Kaatoumo.

Kashime, who was inside, had her Divine Scar's cosmic outline glowing. Flint, Asami, and Akarum were also present inside.

"Is the devil gone?" Asami asked, clutching her chest.

"There's no sound. Perhaps she did," Kashime replied.

Then the room's wall broke. The angel entered.

Their eyes widened. Kashime circled her gaze to all of them.

"Don't move," she whispered.

"Where did they go?" The angel looked puzzled. All of them were there, but the angel couldn't see them.

"Did they teleport?" Feathers materialized behind the angel. "Let's test."

What could they possibly do?

Flint's fingers trembled as he struggled to stay still.

The angel threw the feathers in different directions inside the room. As that happened—

"Run!" Kashime's Divine Scar's cosmic outline glow faded.

All of them, knowing they couldn't escape that, dashed outside. Akarum and Asami from the door, Kashime and Flint from the broken wall.

"Presence influence. How clever."

The angel went after Kashime and Flint.

"You couldn't escape, you know."

The angel warned.

Kashime hid behind a tree, Flint behind another just far away from Kashime.

Kashime stared at him, then she looked at a tree beside her. Her cosmic outline glowed, as if a string had been forged between the tree and Flint.

"I can't connect more than two." A feather passed through the space near Kashime. She stiffened. Flint, who was still there, desiring to help her but unable to come, clenched his teeth.

The angel reappeared in front of Kashime. She was so fast that in their perception it looked like the angel was teleporting.

Kashime instinctively moved her elbow to hit her, but she wasn't there anymore.

"Flint, run." Kashime commanded as she herself began to move deep into the trees.

They both ran. The angel was running beside them and then she turned her face toward them.

"From whom are we running?" The angel said with unadulterated mocking tone, it seemed like she was jogging, not running.

Kashime's hand moved once again but the result was the same.

Akarum and Asami had arrived outside, moving toward the direction Kashime and Flint had gone.

"They didn't go too far, I guess," Akarum said. Then he observed that Asami couldn't keep up with him. He stopped and turned to her.

"You should stay here. I will go after them," he said.

But it's a bad idea. What if another one appears here? Then we are staying here.

We both stay here. There's no choice.

Both Asami and Akarum stopped, staring toward the direction Flint and Kashime had gone. They didn't seem to come into sight.

The angel was holding a heart in her palm. Kashime's eyes widened with pure terror.

"No, no. I did use connection reflection. It can't be..."

Flint was alive, barely. Blood was pouring from his chest.

"See, you couldn't win."
