"Mmh... Your hands are so good..." The seductive tone was more than an invitation. "Should I take my top off so you could apply sunscreen on these two?"
"Don't."
Vance caught her swift hands just as they were about to untie the thin straps of the tiny top she was wearing. She was reclining on a makeshift beach lounger set up on the wooden deck, wearing a minuscule bikini. Vance was sitting on the edge of the lounger beside her, carefully applying an ointment he had synthesized with her help. It was born from his practical mind—having explained to her how damaging the sun's rays could be without protection, leading to this exact scenario.
He couldn't deny that touching her felt good. It felt exceptionally good. Her skin was delicate, impossibly smooth, and warm under his palms. Yet, he was quietly grateful she wasn't pushing her luck further. She knew the boundaries; if she crossed them, he would simply walk away.
"Fufufufu... Right! You only want me for yourself, don't you?" Lilith teased, her amber eyes darting subtly toward the captain and two deckhands who were hopelessly mesmerized from behind Vance's back.
"I don't share what's mine..." Vance uttered softly.
The words escaped his mouth before he could catch them, and the atmosphere on the deck shifted instantly. The air grew heavy, dropping ten degrees in a single beat. Lilith's playful expression turned severe as she shot a cold, predatory glance at the crew.
"You are paid to direct this ship, not to watch me with drooling mouths!" she barked at the audience.
"Get back to work, you mindless scoundrels!" the captain bellowed immediately, yanking his eyes away and violently kicking a deckhand who was still frozen in place. "Mind the rigging! Look to the current!"
Lilith sighed softly, sinking back onto the lounger. Vance hadn't stopped caressing her midriff, slowly spreading the smooth cream over her porcelain skin.
"Fufufu... There you have it. I'm all yours now..." she purred, looking up at him. "What now?"
Vance liked those words. The dark hunger in his chest was still there, but its endless noise was calm today. There were no immediate threats; he felt in absolute control. Before him lay this breathtaking woman, served like a royal feast to be devoured in a manner entirely different from his usual violence—a means to satiate another type of hunger that had recently shown its first embers of existence.
"Now..." Vance trailed off, his voice dropping into a low, smooth register. "Anything could happen."
Lilith gasped, completely caught off guard by his tone and the sheer audacity of his words. Her usual teasing aura crumbled, and her cheeks flushed deep crimson as her cuteness skyrocketed past the clouds. Vance leaned in, claiming her personal space with an intoxicating, territorial confidence that left her utterly speechless.
"The cutest thing in the world..." he whispered against her ear. "I wonder what other expressions I can make you display..."
"Nngh!" she let out an involuntary, trembling sound, entirely disarmed.
Vance gently bit her earlobe. Through his heightened perception, he gathered every single detail—the way her pretty toes curled tightly, the shudder running down her spine, and the breathless gasp that escaped her lips.
"Ahh!"
Lilith.exe stopped working.
With a dark, satisfied grin, Vance pulled back slightly, thoroughly delighted with how things had turned out. This was his quiet revenge for her antics the night before, and the feeling was intoxicating. It was power—absolute power over a creature built to undo men.
I wonder what else I can do to her... what other sounds and expressions she will make for me, he thought.
He noticed his own breathing was heavy. He chuckled softly at the sight of her—her wide, glossy eyes gleaming with a mixture of innocence and stunned surrender, unsure if what she had just experienced was real or a dream. She lay there, completely served, at his mercy. Leaning down once more, he deposited a soft, lingering kiss on the sensitive skin of her neck.
"The time will come..." he whispered against her flesh, making her tremble in the best possible way.
Satisfied, Vance shifted off the lounger and stood up. He felt strangely energized, yet amused by his own sudden shift in behavior. What has gotten into me lately? he mused internally.
With a simple thought, he summoned his mental construct—the clinical interface he had engineered to quantify and control his own terrifying evolution.

Vance stared at the floating line beneath his Vitality stat: [Heat]
What the...?
He nearly blinked in disbelief. The system was a logical structure built to keep his mind anchored. Yet, the interface was pulling primal realities from his subconscious and displaying them in clinical text. His instinct to breed was directly bound to his Vitality—when his body was healthy, his territory secure, and his hunger calm, his apex physiology naturally sought to claim and propagate.
"Ha..." He let out.
"Mmnh... V-Vance..."
Lilith's soft, trembling voice broke his concentration. He closed the status window and looked down. She was blushing furiously, pointing a delicate, shaking finger toward her inner thigh, right near the edge of her attire.
"Could you... put more ointment... here?"
Vance's eyes darkened slightly, a quiet smirk touching his lips as he looked at her.
"My Lord!" the captain's voice suddenly called out from the helm, breaking the heavy tension on deck. "We are rounding the river bend! Silver Lake Town is just ahead!"
Vance turned his gaze forward. The river opened up into a grand, shimmering expanse of water nestled between sweeping mountain ridges. Embedded thirty stories high into the cliffside overlooking the water was a staggering, petrified spiral structure that defied all natural logic.
"No problem," Vance murmured toward Lilith, taking a step toward the bow as his analytical mind locked onto the massive shell in the cliffs. "We have arrived."
Vance turned his gaze forward. He tilted his head as the ship rounded the bend; at first, he could still only see the wide river, dense greenery, and towering ridges. But soon the horizon opened up, revealing a grand, shimmering expanse of water—the very cradle from which the river was born. Nestled quietly along its shore sat a cluster of small wooden houses that could be none other than Silver Lake Town.
He smiled, walking toward the bow of the ship and casually ignoring the affected, dramatic pouting of his woman. Resting his hands against the wooden railing, he looked down at the dark water.
He didn't just use his eyes. Vance expanded his Perception, casting his senses like a net into the depths to detect whatever was hidden beneath the surface. He pushed his mind as far down as it would go, but the lake's floor dropped away deeper than his current range could explore. For now, it felt like a normal body of water—teeming with mundane aquatic life, but carrying no immediate trace of anything extraordinary.
He let out a quiet sigh. Of course, finding whatever monster keeps these people in fear wouldn't be that easy.
Turning on his heel, he walked back to Lilith. She had now completely shifted from a blushing, disarmed demoness into a bubbly, needy girlfriend who wanted nothing more than to be spoiled rotten by her man.
Vance grinned. The damn delicious thing looks even cuter than before. How can anyone look that cute?
"Alright, alright... Don't look at me like that," he murmured, picking up the bottle of ointment. "Let me help you..."
He continued applying the cream right where she had pointed—along the sensitive curve of her inner thigh. The moment his warm fingers touched her skin, she relaxed completely, letting out a soft, satisfied sigh that made his grin broaden.
"You should put on your own swimsuit..." Lilith purred, her voice dripping with pure peace and contentment. "Then I could apply sunscreen for you..."
Vance chuckled softly. "You wouldn't come out of that unscathed."
"What?" She blinked, confused for a fraction of a second, before a wicked gleam lit up her amber eyes. "Oh! Fufufufu! What has gotten into you lately? You're... different..."
"I'm normal," he answered smoothly, leaning down. "It's just your fault. You're too delicious..."
Lilith gasped as a soft, lingering kiss landed on her shoulder.
"Ah-mmh... There are people around us, Vance..." she stammered, her protest completely lacking conviction as a second, third, and fourth kiss burned against her porcelain skin—each one bolder and lower than the last.
And then, just as she tilted her head back, he stopped entirely, pulling away and leaving her breathlessly suspended in mid-air.
"Vance... Vance..." she whimpered, her eyes wide and demanding.
"Lord Vance! We will be docking in ten minutes!" the captain's voice boomed from the helm.
Vance looked down at her with an amused, lazy expression. "Ah... Well. Last night, you completely ignored that you had me at your feet. And now..."
"Last—what?! What do you mean?!" Lilith let out, her mind frantically racing, a flash of memory from the night before suddenly clicking into place.
"...and now we don't have time," Vance finished, feigning a disappointed, tragic tone. "Bad luck, I guess."
"You're lying!" she accused, her cheeks flushing bright red as she realized what she had missed out on.
"Never," he teased, his dark eyes sparkling. "If you had asked last night, you would have received."
"I'm asking right now! Take me now!" she demanded immediately, completely abandoning all pretense of subtlety.
Vance let out a rich, low laugh, a thoroughly smug smile spreading across his face. "The time will come."
Before she could scream in frustration, his attention shifted past her, locking onto a bizarre rock formation along the mountain ridge near the town. "What is that?"
Lilith huffed, trying to pull her thoughts back together. "Y-Evil! What? Ah... the spiral thing? It's just a rock, or a shell of some ancient creature. There are hundreds of them in this valley—some exposed like that one, others buried deep underground." She crossed her arms, trying to sound nonchalant. "They're nothing interesting. Just corpses."
"I see..." Vance mused to himself, staring up at the petrified structure thirty stories high. "I guess a giant crab or something lived in them long ago."
He looked back out at the approaching docks of Silver Lake Town. The water was quiet, the town seemed calm, but beneath the surface of the lake and the mysterious architecture of the mountains, Vance could feel it—the hunt was about to begin.
