Arthur went back home after his encounter with Mary, they had been friends since a long time ago. Mary was exceptionally kind to everyone and everything, wether they were a bug or a person, she'd show them kindness anyway.
Mary was very strong, perhaps even more than Arthur, but even if she got hit she wouldn't hurt anyone, like it happened before. That's why Arthur took it personal to defend her and almost always beat the kids that hurt her.
Mary's power consisted in controling dark and light, she was an elemental type of superhuman, and a very weird one at that.
Naturally, elemental superhumans are only gifted with one element, but Mary could control two at the same time. There are exceptional cases like this, but the weird part about it is that dark elemental users are pure evil but light users are the exact opposite, so how could Mary be the two of them?
Arthur didn't know at all, he was clueless, like everyone else was. But he was certain about a single thing: Mary had no evil in her, not an ounce of it. If she did, she would be the best actress he had ever seen.
He continued to ponder about this weird situation as he wandered the street on his way home.
As he was walking, he spotted two kids laughing and walking towards him.
"Hey, are you that Arthur everyone has been talking about?"
Arthur tilted his head and then answered simply.
"I guess I am, do you want something?"
"I heard you were strong so I wanted to fight with you"
Sighing, Arthur shook his head and walked past them, but one of them grabbed his shoulders.
"You are friends with that goody-two-shoes Mary, aren't you? Man… she was so pathetic, can you believe she tried to stand up for a cockroach? Hahaha"
"Yeah, and then she tried to lecture us about how every life is important or some bullshit like that. Anyways, we pushed her into the floor until we got bored and then told her to tell you to meet us at the park, but you never came so we went to find you"
As the kid talked, Arthur's eyes grew progressively colder until he looked like he was just staring at a pestering fly.
"So you did that to provoke me?"
"I wouldn't call it provoking, I'd say it was much rather inciting you to fight us, life's here is so boring so we need to entertain ourselves"
"Fight?"
The kids vision's started to slow down, everything stopped except for Arthur's figure.
The kids were knocked out a few moments later and Arthur stomped on one of the kid's chest.
"If I hear you as much approached Mary again, you die. Are we understood?"
The kid, that didn't even know what happened hurriedly nodded his head and Arthur left, leaving the kids stunned.
Arthur went back home and there he found his father, watching TV and drinking beer. He shook his head and entered his room, he laid in bed and pondered a bit more about the nature of Mary's powers.
Resulting in nothing, he closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep.
Arthur opened his eyes some hours after that, it was already night on the street.
"Shit, I overslept"
As he was getting up from the bed, he heard the sound of police sirens, which wouldn't be weird if not for the fact that police usually don't dare to step in this place. Curious, Arthur exited his room, his father wasn't home as usual.
He went out, the street was dark and there were shady people all around. Arthur walked in the direction that he heard the sirens from, as he was walking he listened to the conversations happening between the drunk people in the street.
"Hey, did you hear the conmotion earlier?"
"Yeah, I was wondering what was that about"
"Apparently, Eclipse made a move and kidnapped someone"
Arthur's heart sunk. Eclipse was a massive organization of villains that directly opposed and killed superheros. They often kidnap children with great potential and train them to become ruthless and insanely strong. What made them different from other gangs would be their worldwide influence and power that could even topple a whole country.
If Arthur were to say who has the greatest potential in this whole city, then it would be Mary without a single doubt.
Eclipse making a move would explain why the police had entered this place too. Having no time to waste Arthur ran like his life depended on it, Mary lived alone, so he was the only one who could help her.
He arrived at her door and knocked several times, not getting a response, he knocked over the door and entered the house.
"Mary! Are you here?!" He shouted with all his lungs but he didn´t get an answer, he rushed back to the street and skilfuly climbed on top of the roof.
From there he spotted a black van chased by the police and various superheros, he ran in that direction, slowing time as much as he could.
Abusing his power, he almost managed to catch up with the chase.
Out of nowhere, a car blocked the way of the van and crashed against it. More cars showed up, a bunch of people came out of them.
A few more cars blocked the way from behind and the people that came out of them got rid of the police and superheros very quickly. Arthur, who was exhausted and hid behind a fence watched this with confusion on his face.
But quickly he recognized the people in the cars, it was the redhorn gang, the one his father was part of.
From the van emerged around seven people wearing black, with masks of the same color covering their faces.
Arthur saw his father from afar, he was following the leader of the redhorn gang, Darryl.
His father and Darryl met with the Eclipse members with hostility in their faces.
"So, what do you guys think you're doing in my territory?"
