Yao Zhu, better known by his moniker, the Demon Lord, flew at blinding speed as he tried to evade the Origin Spheres Xue Hui hurled at him.
Explosions shook the entire lush forest as the Origin Spheres rained down destruction, relentlessly pursuing the escaping Demon Lord.
As Yao Zhu flew, the space in front of him rippled before the tip of a halberd shot through it.
Yao Zhu's eyes widened as the top of his head suddenly went numb. He swiftly pivoted his body, narrowly dodging the sharp tip of the halberd as it grazed past him.
Woosh!
BOOM!
Unfortunately for him, this left him exposed, causing an Origin Sphere to shoot down from above and strike him squarely in the back with tremendous force, sending him crashing into the ground.
"Argh!" Blood splattered everywhere as Yao Zhu vomited a mouthful of blood. Excruciating pain coursed through his body, causing him to shake uncontrollably.
At the same time, a sense of dread washed over him as Xue Hui's figure emerged from the rippling space. Seeing this, Yao Zhu forced himself to his feet, only to be surprised when his legs gave out beneath him, causing him to collapse to the ground once again. Only then did a putrid smell of rotting flesh fill his nose.
Confused, Yao Zhu quickly assessed his condition, only to discover that the lower half of his body, from the waist down, was beginning to rot.
"W-What's going on here!?" Yao Zhu shouted in horror.
He hadn't completely understood what was happening. Everything had gone terribly wrong the moment Xue Hui showed himself.
Worse yet, even in his Eight-Armed Darkhell Fiend form, it seemed that his opponent's strength surpassed his by a wide margin.
"Is that fear I'm hearing in your voice? I hope it is. I was actually planning to ask you about the reason behind your hatred of Glory City and everyone living there, as I'm quite interested to hear it."
Xue Hui spoke as he approached the fallen Yao Zhu. All twelve of his Origin Spheres flew to his side before circling around him like planets orbiting their sun.
The sight made a sense of impending death creep into Yao Zhu's heart. Desperate, he tried to move, but just like earlier, his legs refused to budge as the discoloration continued spreading through them, growing darker until they resembled charred flesh.
Whatever Xue Hui had hit him with had caused his body to shut down. Even channeling his spiritual energy had become impossible, as though something was actively destroying his physique.
"But seeing that you're a practitioner of the Spiritual Constellation Technique, I've lost all interest in you. All I see is a man who refuses to die, so he sold his humanity and soul for a little more time."
Xue Hui's condemning gaze scanned the sprawled Demon Lord, a look of disdain washing over his face.
"In my humble opinion, that's quite pathetic. Don't you agree?"
SPLURT!
"Argh!"
Yao Zhu let out a miserable shriek as one of his legs split open, causing blackened, rotten blood to spray from the wound.
"And here I am, stressing myself out and coming up with several plans to take you and your Dark Guild down, only to find out that you're nothing but a weak-minded coward who takes shortcuts at the expense of innocent lives. Let me guess, all the children you sacrificed to cultivate the Spiritual Constellation Technique came from Glory City, right?"
Yao Zhu's entire body shook as thick killing intent bore down on him. The air around him became oppressive as Xue Hui's spiritual pressure burst forth like a raging volcano, causing the clouds above to swirl ominously. Lightning flashed and thunder roared, sending all the beasts in the surrounding area fleeing in terror.
"Who are you?" Yao Zhu managed to gasp, his breathing becoming ragged as black spots began to appear in his vision. It didn't take a genius to realize that his body was reaching its limit.
Seeing Yao Zhu's pitiful appearance, Xue Hui raised his hand toward him and spread his fingers, causing the Origin Spheres surrounding him to emit an ominous hum as heat began to surge within them.
"I'm the guy you killed before. Now that you know, go die and burn."
IGNITE!
WOOSH!
"AHHHH!"
Yao Zhu had no chance to ponder Xue Hui's words as all twelve Origin Spheres shone with blinding light. Searing heat erupted from them, creating a sun-like dome that trapped Yao Zhu and Xue Hui inside.
It emitted an intense heat, burning everything within except Xue Hui, who coldly watched as the Demon Lord who had plunged Glory City into misery in his previous and present life was gradually reduced to ashes, with not even a speck of him left behind.
A death that marked the end of the terror that had hunted Glory City for many years.
Xue Hui stood still, his expression blank as he waited for the dome of flame to dissipate.
Unknown to him, by killing Yao Zhu, some invisible force had undergone a massive shift. The death of the Demon Lord altered the destiny of everyone involved in a grand scheme laid out by a supreme expert many cycles ago.
Inside the Abyss Prison Realm
Flashes of lightning snaked through the permanently darkened skies as the sound of deafening thunder shook the heavens, followed by heavy rain pouring over the wasteland, drenching a group of people who were venturing into the unknown land.
"Whoa, Nie Li, are you okay? N-Nie Li?! Lu Piao, help me! Nie Li suddenly collapsed!" Du Ze shouted in panic as he hurriedly rushed to pick Nie Li up, who had fallen face-first onto the soaked ground.
Similarly, Ye Ziyun, who had been staring at the skies with a blank expression a moment ago, began to sway before her eyes closed, causing her to fall in Chen Linlin's direction.
Chen Linlin saw this and was quick to her feet, catching the falling Ye Ziyun in her arms. Worry washed over Chen Linlin's rain-soaked face as she checked her friend's condition.
"Ziyun! Can you hear me? Ziyun, answer me. ZIYUN! Wake up! Wake up!"
What made Chen Linlin even more worried was the pained expression etched onto Ye Ziyun's beautiful face, as though she were having a terrible nightmare.
"Linlin, even Ning'er fell unconscious! What are we going to do?" Mei Lin shouted in panic as she carried the unconscious girl on her back.
With a sense of urgency, Chen Linlin hurriedly took out the Sacred Jade Room, making it appear in front of everyone. The sound of it hitting the ground created a loud thud, making everyone jump in surprise.
"Everyone, quick! Bring them inside," Chen Linlin ordered as she opened the entrance to the Sacred Jade Room.
The group did as she said without a single question as they carried Nie Li and the two girls inside.
Back in the real world
After dealing with the Demon Lord, Xue Hui, Moi Ca, Xiao Julin, and Silver decided to take a break.
Both girls let out happy squeals as Xue Hui took out their favorite food. Moi Ca and Xiao Julin scooped mouthfuls of the sugary treats before popping them into their mouths. Their cheeks flushed red as they savored their desserts.
The two became lost in the taste as they chewed in delight, while the air around them became thick with a mouthwatering fragrance.
As a gentle breeze passed through them, it carried the enticing aroma straight toward the unconscious Chi Mei, making the demon beast girl's nose twitch.
"Master, why did we still bring that demon beast with us? I thought demon beasts were our enemies. What's the use of saving her?" Moi Ca asked in genuine confusion.
Having been part of Glory City for quite some time now, she had already come to understand how much of a threat demon beasts posed to the people of Glory City.
Xue Hui paused mid-sip of his tea. He knitted his eyebrows, giving Moi Ca a confused look.
"Why are you asking me? Aren't you two the ones who brought her along? I'm pretty sure I left her lying under the tree before I went to fight."
His words made Moi Ca pause her chewing as well, her expression becoming pensive as she tried to recall what had happened earlier.
"Oh! It wasn't me. It was Julin. She's the one who fed the demon beast a Nine Transformation Pill and placed her on Silver's back. It was her!" Moi Ca exclaimed in realization as she and Xue Hui turned their gazes toward the smaller girl.
Face covered in crumbs, Xiao Julin continued to feast on her food until she paused, sensing their eyes on her. She tilted her head as she looked back at the two.
"What?" she questioned.
"Julin, why did you heal that demon beast and bring her with us?" Moi Ca asked, pointing a finger at the sleeping Chi Mei.
At first, Xiao Julin's cute face morphed into confusion as her eyes followed where Moi Ca was pointing. But once her gaze landed on Chi Mei, a look of realization dawned on her.
"Oh! Her? I brought her so we could eat her later," Xiao Julin answered enthusiastically
"WHAT!?"
"AHHH!"
"MASTER!"
Commotion ensued as the panicked yells of both Moi Ca and Xiao Julin rang out. After The demon beast girl, who had been pretending to be asleep for quite some time, suddenly jumped to her feet.
Her beautiful face was drained of color, her eyes wide as saucers as she stared at Xue Hui, Moi Ca, and, more importantly, Xiao Julin with unfiltered terror.
