Chapter 79 - ch 79 Yu Yan

Xue Hui activated the Origin of Flame within his body to withstand the bone-penetrating heat bombarding him. At the same time, he summoned the Origin of Water to try and freeze the entire cave, only to find that his Origin power was easily pushed back by the Law of Fire.

"Two Powers of Law! You can use two of them at the same time? Who are you? Why do you have the Law of Fire in you? I'm the possessor of the Law of Fire. Your Law of Fire shouldn't exist as long as I'm wielding it."

Xue Hui's ears constantly rang from the angry yelling of whoever was wielding the Law of Fire.

The smell of burnt flesh entered his nostrils, followed by searing pain beginning to register in his mind.

Xue Hui gritted his teeth and poured all his soul force into the Origin of Flame. Only then did he manage to protect his body from the excessive heat generated by the Law of Fire.

"Hmph! You think you can use the Law of Fire in my presence? Presumptuous!"

Another wave of heat surged toward Xue Hui, threatening to turn him into charcoal.

This time, he didn't remain on the defensive. Xue Hui used the Origin of Space and disappeared from where he stood, shocking the other party.

Then he reappeared above the lake in the middle of the cave, where the Law of Fire was concentrated.

"H-how!? The Law of Space? How are you using this many Powers of Law at once?"

the angry voice carried a hint of fear, especially when Xue Hui appeared above the lake and dove into it.

Instead of answering her questions, Xue Hui used the Origin of Piercing and fired it toward the bottom of the lake, where the Law of Fire was most concentrated.

"Ack! H-how!? That's the Law of Piercing! Who are you?"

Xue Hui snorted disdainfully. This person's way of asking questions was far too violent.

Just now, Xue Hui had sensed an inscription array hidden beneath the lake and used the Origin of Piercing to destroy it. However, the Law of Fire managed to eliminate ninety-five percent of his attack and only allowed it to scratch the surface of the inscription array. Even so, with the cries of pain coming from that voice, he was certain that he had managed to injure his attacker.

With a scoff, Xue Hui drew upon all his remaining soul force and created more than a dozen Origins of Piercing, fully intending to end the battle.

"Wait! I give up! Let's talk!"

The panicked voice rang in Xue Hui's ears, which only served to annoy him further.

"Oh? Now you want to talk? I have a feeling you would've only been willing to talk to me after I was charred to the bone. What changed your mind? Forget it. Go talk to the souls you'll encounter in the afterlife."

Xue Hui spoke scornfully. How could anyone simply call for a truce after burning his flesh and nearly killing him? This person was far too unreasonable.

"W-wait! I'm a Spiritual God of humanity, goddess Yu Yan. If you kill me, you're going to plunge humanity into complete extinction!"

Xue Hui's hand stopped midway through its motion, causing the dozen or so Origins of Piercing to halt abruptly just inches away from the inscription array.

Xue Hui had discovered the existence of Spiritual Gods while reading Emperor Shen Jiao Dao's memoirs, and he had been intrigued by them ever since.

Who would've thought that this unreasonable person was actually a Spiritual God?

"Show yourself, or don't blame me for being ruthless," Xue Hui ordered coldly.

Although he could sense that Yu Yan's strength far surpassed his own, she was clearly restricted by whatever was hidden within the inscription array.

As soon as he spoke, a palm-sized ball of flame floated before his face. With a blinding flash, the ball of fire transformed into the form of a woman.

A very small one at that.

She had crystal-like skin, a delicate face, and seductive curves that would make any man drool with desire upon seeing her. She possessed a charm so great that even Xue Hui felt a trace of heat rise within him.

However, that also made Xue Hui's eyebrow twitch.

Yu Yan's body was simply too strange. She was tiny, wore a worried expression on her small face, and kept her arms wrapped around herself as though trying to protect her purity from Xue Hui's gaze.

But Xue Hui wasn't having any of it.

Yu Yan was really testing his patience. He had told her to show her real self, yet she had merely conjured a flame spirit to meet him.

"You really think I wouldn't dare kill you just because you're a Spiritual God?"

Enraged, Xue Hui spread all five fingers and commanded the Origins of Piercing to continue forward, pressing against the surface of the inscription array and threatening to destroy it.

"As for humanity, you don't need to worry about them. I alone am more than enough to protect humanity."

Sensing the dreaded Origins of Piercing trying to drill their way through her inscription array, Yu Yan became even more frightened.

Panicking, she hurriedly explained herself.

"Wait, don't be so hasty! I can't show you my actual body even if I wanted to. I died during the Demon-Human War many years ago, and my body is still within a reconstruction array undergoing repairs. That's why I'm unable to show you my real self. If you want, you can dive to the bottom of the lake with me and see it for yourself."

Yu Yan bit her lip in frustration.

She knew exactly what showing her true body to Xue Hui would entail, but she had been left with no other choice.

Looking at Xue Hui's burnt flesh, Yu Yan couldn't help but grimace inwardly. She knew she had overreacted and escalated the situation far too much.

But she couldn't entirely be blamed.

Sensing someone who could use the Law of Fire other than herself in such a mysterious manner had terrified her.

One should know that as long as she was alive, no other person should have been capable of wielding the Law of Fire.

This unexpected encounter with Xue Hui had blinded her with fear, causing her to irrationally attack him out of caution.

Unfortunately for Yu Yan, the fight had ended with Xue Hui grasping her weakness.

With death looming over her, Yu Yan could only beg for forgiveness and reveal her secret to him.

Although the man before her was not as strong as she was, he possessed far too many tricks up his sleeve. She had even weighed her options: either ignite her remaining life force to burn Xue Hui to death, or take a gamble and cooperate with him.

"Lead me to your real body. I want to see it."

Xue Hui's cold, indifferent tone made Yu Yan even more anxious, but she had already made up her mind and led him to her true self.

Yu Yan's small frame dove deep into the lake, where her body was surrounded by a reconstruction array.

Following closely behind, Xue Hui maintained a fierce expression, hiding the immense pain he was suffering from both his burns and the dense Power of Law saturating the lake's waters.

"We're here."

Yu Yan wore a displeased expression. Although unwilling, she had still led Xue Hui to see her true spirit body.

Xue Hui's eyes widened in astonishment.

Before him was Yu Yan's spirit body. Just like her conjured form, her real body was also tiny in size, yet that did nothing to diminish her allure.

Shrouded by dense Power of Law, the reconstruction array around her continuously gathered the Law of Fire within the lake and used it to repair her body.

Yet the process was painfully slow.

The Demon-Human War had occurred over ten thousand years ago, yet the reconstruction array had only managed to restore a tiny version of her.

"So the Power of Law can actually turn you into a spiritual body. No wonder you could live this long. As long as you possess the Law of Fire, you're practically immortal."

To Yu Yan's surprise, Xue Hui merely glanced at her real body before shifting his attention to the reconstruction array. A thoughtful expression appeared on his face.

Xue Hui reached out and used his finger to touch Yu Yan's back.

Yu Yan jolted from the contact but bit back the complaint threatening to escape her lips.

Had Xue Hui not been immersed in deep contemplation, she would've shouted at the top of her lungs and demanded that he keep his hands to himself.

How could the body of a Spiritual Goddess such as herself be touched so casually by a human?

Unfortunately for Yu Yan, her dissatisfaction went completely unnoticed.

Xue Hui was fully absorbed in studying the reconstruction array and the way it repaired her spiritual body.

Then his expression brightened.

His eyes gleamed with intelligence as he thought of something and wanted to test whether his theory was correct.

"I'll be back."

Before Yu Yan could ask what he meant, Xue Hui flickered out of existence and vanished.

The sight startled Yu Yan.

Just now, she had clearly felt the Law of Space at work.

The more Xue Hui did things beyond common sense, the more stressed she became.

How could a person like him control so many Powers of Law?

What was even more terrifying was that Xue Hui could even control the Law of Fire to a certain extent.

Yu Yan shifted her gaze from the empty space where Xue Hui had stood moments ago to her spirit body.

Looking at her incomplete form, she could only sigh helplessly.

She knew that danger was always looming over her. Those Legend-ranked demon beasts were merely waiting for her body to be fully reconstructed before making their move and stealing the shard of the Law of Fire within her.

And now someone new had appeared, and she didn't even know what he wanted.

He had threatened to kill her, demanded to see her real body, and after she complied, all he did was study the reconstruction array while practically ignoring her naked spirit body.

"Whatever. I hope I can convince him to cooperate with me for the sake of humanity's survival."

Yu Yan huffed in resignation, her jade like arms crosses Infront of her, making her bountiful chest to perked up, increasing her allure to an irresistible level, she has a pondering look on her delicate face, thinking a way to smooth things up with Xue Hui.
