Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: The Shadow Stalker

The next few days passed quietly.

Krishak continued his studies at the academy, trained with Lunafang each night, and spent his free time in the library researching spirit beasts and cultivation methods. His classmates only saw the calm and talented young genius who excelled in every lesson. None of them knew that each evening he ventured into the forest to sharpen his skills in real combat.

Lunafang, meanwhile, grew stronger at an astonishing pace.

Under the guidance of the Moonlit Spirit Refinement Method, the young Moonshadow Wolf's body became increasingly refined. The silver markings on his fur shone more brightly each night, and his movements became smoother and more precise.

Within ten days, Lunafang officially advanced to the Early Martial Warrior Realm.

For most contracted beasts, such progress would have taken months.

But Lunafang possessed a superior bloodline, an extraordinary cultivation method, and the support of Krishak's pure spiritual energy.

His growth was naturally far beyond ordinary standards.

One evening, Krishak closed the book he had been reading and looked toward Lunafang.

"Tonight, we will challenge a stronger opponent."

Lunafang immediately stood up, tail swaying.

Krishak smiled.

"Not recklessly. We will observe first."

The silver wolf barked softly in agreement.

After leaving the academy, they traveled deeper into Azurewood Forest than before.

The air became colder.

The spiritual energy in the environment grew denser.

This region was rarely visited by first-year students.

Even most academy instructors only allowed advanced classes to enter this area.

Krishak moved cautiously, concealing both his own aura and Lunafang's.

After nearly an hour, Krishak detected the smell of blood.

He crouched and examined the ground.

Broken branches.

Deep claw marks.

Blood droplets still fresh.

A recent battle had taken place.

Lunafang sniffed the air and growled quietly.

Krishak sent a calming thought.

" Stay alert."

Following the trail, they eventually arrived at a narrow rocky gorge.

There, they saw the source of the disturbance.

Perched atop a large boulder was a sleek black panther.

Its body blended almost perfectly with the darkness.

Purple eyes glowed faintly in the night.

Its aura was powerful.

Krishak narrowed his eyes.

This was a Shadow Stalker Panther, a rare stealth-oriented spirit beast.

More importantly, the beast was injured.

A deep wound marred its left flank.

Blood continued to drip onto the stone.

Despite its injury, the panther radiated a dangerous presence.

Its cultivation was equivalent to the Peak Martial Warrior Realm.

Lunafang instinctively lowered his body.

The pressure from the stronger beast was overwhelming.

The panther noticed them immediately.

Its purple eyes locked onto Krishak and Lunafang.

But instead of attacking, it remained motionless.

Krishak sensed something unusual.

The beast's gaze was clear and rational.

It was evaluating them.

Not acting on instinct.

This was another highly intelligent spirit beast.

Perhaps even more intelligent than Lunafang.

Krishak slowly approached, careful not to project hostility.

"You are wounded."

The panther growled softly but did not attack.

Krishak took several medicinal herbs from his storage pouch and placed them on the ground.

Then he stepped back.

The panther watched him in silence.

After a tense moment, it leapt down, sniffed the herbs, and began consuming them.

For the next half hour, Krishak remained nearby while the panther recovered.

Lunafang stayed at his side, watching curiously.

The larger beast occasionally glanced at the silver wolf.

There was no hostility in its gaze.

Only cautious acknowledgment.

When the panther's condition stabilized, it stood and approached Krishak.

The students at the academy would have been terrified.

But Krishak remained calm.

The panther lowered its head slightly.

A gesture of gratitude.

Krishak nodded.

"Take care of yourself."

The panther turned and vanished into the shadows.

Its presence disappeared so completely that even Lunafang was startled.

On the return journey, Krishak spoke to Lunafang.

"Strength is important."

"But intelligence is equally valuable."

Lunafang listened attentively.

"That panther was badly injured, yet it remained calm and observant."

"It attacked neither us nor the forest blindly."

"It conserved energy and assessed its options."

Krishak looked down at his companion.

"A powerful beast does not rely on instinct alone."

Lunafang barked once, understanding.

Back at the dormitory, Krishak wrote several notes about the encounter.

The Shadow Stalker Panther possessed exceptional concealment abilities.

Its behavior also suggested a level of reasoning unusual even among spirit beasts.

Krishak had no intention of forcing a contract.

One companion was sufficient for now.

But if fate allowed, he would not mind meeting the panther again.

Perhaps, in the future, it might become an ally.

For now, the encounter served as a reminder.

Earth still contained many hidden opportunities.

And many hidden dangers.

Krishak extinguished the lamp.

Lunafang curled beside the bed, his silver fur glowing softly in the moonlight.

The young wolf had learned that night that not every powerful creature was an enemy.

And Krishak had gained further confirmation that Earth's wilderness held far more secrets than most people realized.
