[Chapter 223: Hard Clash with Pyramid Head]
With that strike, the air tore apart with a piercing sonic boom.
Daniel didn't dodge; a flicker of contempt curled at the corners of his mouth.
"Too slow!"
Just as the giant blade was about to slice through his scalp, Daniel's right hand shot out -- his body shimmering like glazed glass, his hand like a pair of lightning pincers.
Clang!
A metallic crash echoed through the entire hospital.
Daniel actually caught that Executioners Blade -- a weapon capable of splitting a tank -- with one hand!
The blade's edge pressed into his glazed palm, but it couldn't even leave a single scratch.
Countless bolts of lightning surged back along the blade, striking Pyramid Head's bare chest and erupting into clouds of blood.
"Get over here!"
Daniel's eyes widened; his five fingers suddenly clenched, unleashing terrifying force.
Crack!
He pressed five clear fingerprints into the rusted Executioners Blade.
Pyramid Head's massive frame wobbled, thrown off balance by Daniel's sudden pull, stumbling forward.
Daniel's left fist was already ready -- lightning crackled over its surface, and the faint roar of a thunderous tiger echoed.
Boom!
His punch landed squarely on the side of Pyramid Head's massive triangular metal helmet.
Even metal several inches thick instantly dented into a massive crater under the heavy blow of Daniel's fourth-tier Body Enhancement.
Pyramid Head's hulking body flew out like a cannonball.
Bang!
He crashed through the brick wall at the end of the corridor, rubble flying everywhere as he tumbled into the ruins of the hall.
"Ah! Daniel, is that you?"
Megan's voice drifted out from deep in the corridor.
"Stay put, it's not over yet!"
Daniel replied, leaping down from the gap in the wall like a bolt of golden lightning.
Boom!
He landed heavily, his feet carving two large craters into the ground as dust filled the air.
Amid the ruins, Pyramid Head shook off the impact and hauled himself back up.
His once-proud iron helmet was severely deformed, revealing a corner of twisted, rotting, dark-red flesh.
Roaring madly, he discarded the bent Executioners Blade and charged at Daniel like a crazed bull.
"Still not giving up."
Daniel snorted coldly, his figure blurring as he vanished from sight.
Pyramid Head's naked eyes couldn't track him at all.
Suddenly, an overwhelmingly oppressive aura slammed into him.
Daniel lunged into Pyramid Head's chest, his right elbow slamming hard against the towering bulk.
Thud!
The dull sound resembled a bell struck deep.
Pyramid Head's chest cavity collapsed instantly; tendons and spine bulged outward from the impact.
But as an Incarnation of the Inner World's will, as long as fear remained, he was immortal.
His thick arms locked around Daniel, trying to crush him in a ruthless grip.
"Want to wrestle?"
Daniel's gaze sharpened; his entire body glowed like glazed glass.
Lightning transformed into countless tiny needles, frantically piercing every pore of Pyramid Head's skin.
"Break!"
Daniel jolted his arms, unleashing ten thousand catties of force.
Crack, crack--
Amid a series of bone-cracking sounds, Pyramid Head's thick arms were forcibly snapped.
They hung limply at his sides.
Immediately, Daniel grabbed both sides of the triangular iron head with his hands and slammed his knee upward.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three heavy strikes landed, each crackling with dense Geomantic Energy and lightning.
The indestructible iron helmet twisted, then shattered in Daniel's grasp.
Pyramid Head's massive body went limp like a ragdoll, utterly powerless before Daniel's onslaught.
He stumbled backward, trying to create some distance.
But Daniel's attacks were a relentless storm, leaving him no breathing room.
"Aren't you the Executioner?"
Daniel grabbed Pyramid Head by the throat, hoisting him into the air.
"In my world, Evil Spirits have only one path: death."
Daniel's right fist trembled violently; golden light and lightning converged into his palm, forming a blinding point of light.
"Die!"
Rumble!
The punch pierced through Pyramid Head's chest.
Violent lightning erupted inside him.
From the inside out, it pulverized his flesh, bones, and even that eerie will.
"Ah--!"
For the first time, Pyramid Head screamed in clear terror.
The thunderous light swallowed everything.
When the light faded, Daniel still stood amid the ruins.
On the ground lay only shattered metal fragments and a puddle of grayish-white powder.
His towering, burly frame slowly shrank.
The glazed luster faded, his skin returning to its normal color.
He panted lightly; although his body was stained with dark-red blood...
...the residual electrical arcs on his skin soon evaporated it.
[Ding! Killed a C-rank monster, obtained 5,000,000 merit points.]
[Dong! Killed a C-rank monster, obtained 'Spatial Stride.'"]
"Five million?"
Daniel raised an eyebrow, finally feeling some satisfaction.
Monsters of this caliber were indeed worth far more than those nurses.
And it even rewarded 'Spatial Stride' -- a famous spatial Spell in the Exorcist school.
He didn't have time to check the skill now; turning, he looked at the closed iron door on the second floor.
...
At that moment, the sensation of the Inner World peeling away intensified.
The surrounding blood-red muscle walls began to wither, gradually reverting to the original dilapidated concrete.
With a single step, Daniel appeared before the door of the hospital room deep in the corridor the next second using Spatial Stride.
Bang!
He pushed open the door.
Megan was huddled beneath the hospital bed, her hand gripping tightly the bracelet Magical Artifact Daniel had given her.
The artifact emitted a faint but resilient green light, firmly blocking the black mold that crept toward her.
The moment she saw Daniel, Megan froze for three seconds.
"Daniel..."
She shrieked, scrambling out on all fours.
She dove into Daniel's embrace, which radiated scorching magical power.
"Wuwuwu... I thought I was going to die here! There are so many faceless monsters! And a freak with a giant blade..."
Megan sobbed uncontrollably, tears and snot smearing across Daniel's bare chest.
He patted her shoulder, feeling her violent trembling, wrought by sheer terror.
"All right, stop crying. That freak has already turned to ash."
Daniel glanced out the window; though the mist remained, the oppressive malice had significantly weakened.
"Let's go. We need to get out of here."
Daniel pulled a coat from the System space, draped it over himself, and slid an arm around Megan's waist.
She clung tightly, as if fearing he might vanish if she let go.
Only then did she notice Daniel's exposed muscles. Normally, she might have pounced. But right now, she wasn't in the mood.
"How are we getting out?" Megan asked softly.
"Fighting our way out," Daniel said flatly.
