Charlotte sat there, trembling, her gaze fixed on the floor as if she couldn't pull herself away from it. Her hand shot up, roughly scrubbing at her cheek where he had touched her, as though she could erase the memory of it.
Disgust twisted violently in her chest.
Her heart pounded so hard against her ribs it felt like it might break free. She dragged a shaky breath into her lungs, pushing her hair back with unsteady fingers. Her skin prickled, crawling as if something invisible crept across it.
