Chapter 117 - When Rivals, Admirers, and a Girlfriend Collide

"Oh—it's you, Kahili. What a coincidence."

That's right. Standing before Peter was none other than Kahili—the Trainer he had once battled in the arena, and the future Flying-type Elite Four member of the Alola region.

"Mhm~ you too. Long time no see, Peter. I didn't expect to run into you here. If I remember correctly, you should've already challenged the Eterna Gym by now, right?"

She had been following Peter's social media account all this time.

"Uh… I just happened to be waiting for someone here," Peter raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "What about you? Why are you here?"

Logically speaking, Kahili was far stronger than him—her journey progress shouldn't be this slow.

Sensing his confusion, Kahili took out her Badge Case. Three badges rested quietly inside.

Besides the Coal Badge from Oreburgh City, there were also the Cobble Badge from Veilstone City and the Fen Badge from Pastoria City.

"Some time ago, I flew across Mt. Coronet and traveled to Pastoria and Veilstone," she explained. "I have to say, Mr. Crasher Wake is incredibly skilled with Ice-type moves despite being a Water-type specialist. It took me quite a while to finally win."

"I see…"

"Mm… considering the remaining Gym Leaders aren't easy to deal with, I thought I'd come here first and secure the Grass-type Forest Badge~"

Peter nodded.

For a Trainer specializing in Flying-types, Sinnoh really was a tough place to travel.

She couldn't easily break through the Steel-type Canalave Gym, was countered by the Ice-type Snowpoint Gym and the Electric-type Sunyshore Gym, and Hearthome Gym's Fantina was no pushover either. It made sense to pick on a "softer target" like a Grass-type Gym first.

"Oh? Judging from your tone, it sounds like obtaining my Forest Badge will be effortless?"

The two turned around. The Gym's doors slowly opened, and Gardenia stepped out in her signature green outfit.

Kahili smiled confidently. "We'll find out when I challenge the Gym later."

Gardenia returned the smile. "I'm afraid that won't work today—I just finished a battle. Come back tomorrow~"

Before she even finished speaking, a long, smooth brown leg stepped out from inside the Gym. Soon after, a dark-skinned girl with blue hair wearing a midriff-baring swimsuit walked out.

With charming eye makeup, a slender figure, and long blue-black hair reaching her hips—

It was none other than Nessa.

"Eh? Peter!" The moment she saw him, Nessa's blue eyes lit up.

But then she noticed Kahili standing beside him. Since they had been watching the Teddiursa together, the distance between them looked… a little too close.

A sour feeling rose in her heart.

So Peter had rejected her invitation to travel together… only to travel with Kahili instead?

Kahili blinked slightly. "Um… Peter, are you waiting for her?"

For some reason, her tone carried a faint trace of interrogation.

Peter's mouth twitched.

Why did this situation feel like the start of a battlefield…?

Just as he was about to explain, a hand suddenly slapped his shoulder.

"Yo! Peter, I finally found you!"

Turning around, he saw a pair of orange eyes burning with fighting spirit.

The owner was an energetic girl—dark skin, long black hair tied in a high ponytail, with a single green-highlighted strand at the front. Her pretty face was dotted with cute freckles, and she wore an academy student council uniform. Beneath her shorts, her long legs were wrapped in black stockings.

Peter froze.

"You're… Nemona?!"

That's right—standing before him was Nemona, who had traveled all the way from the Paldea region to Sinnoh, the future Champion-ranked upperclassman.

"Ha! You still remember me! Just as I thought—my instincts were right. You're my destined rival. Let's battle!"

She immediately took out a Poké Ball.

Peter's lips twitched.

What in the world was this bizarre turn of events?

"Uh… wait a moment. Let me handle things one at a time…" Peter said, glancing at Kahili and Nessa. The way the two of them looked at Nemona had already changed—

Especially Gardenia, who leaned against the doorway with folded arms and an expression that clearly said, This is getting interesting. It was infuriating.

Peter was speechless.

I was just peacefully waiting here to meet my girlfriend—why are all of you suddenly making such a mess?

"Actually, I'm waiting for—"

"Peter——!"

Before he could finish, a soft, sweet voice called from the south.

The next moment, a soft body embraced him from behind.

Peter's heart leaped with joy. From that astonishing softness and perfect figure alone, he instantly knew who it was.

He let out a long breath of relief.

"Babe, you're finally here!"

Whitney, who had been bursting with excitement just moments ago, immediately became shy. Her milky-white face flushed red.

"W-What are you doing? There are people watching…"

Nessa and Kahili exchanged glances and exclaimed in unison:

"Babe?!"

Gardenia's eyes widened. Even she hadn't expected the story to take such an explosive turn—it was far more exciting than any melodramatic movies she'd ever watched!

Only Nemona remained deep in thought, her mind already calculating what team lineup she should use for today's battle with Peter.

-----

Ten minutes later.

Everyone sat together inside the Gym.

"So… that's what happened," Peter explained helplessly.

After his explanations and introductions, everyone gradually got to know each other.

Most importantly, Whitney—the official girlfriend—completely dispelled certain misunderstandings.

Kahili and Nessa lowered their heads in silence. Remembering their earlier tension with each other, even their ears turned red. Occasionally, they glanced at Whitney with undisguised envy.

Whitney said nothing, simply holding Peter's hand the entire time, a sweet smile lighting up her lovely face.

Meanwhile, Gardenia sighed dramatically toward the ceiling.

"Ah… what a pity!"

The scenario she had imagined—where the main girlfriend erupted in fury, suppressing the rivals, the rivals joining forces to pressure the male lead while begging for affection, and the male lead torn between them before everyone ended up sharing a bed—never happened…

"Uh… Miss Gardenia, here's the Revival Herb you asked me to gather earlier."

Peter took out five Revival Herbs, easing the awkward atmosphere.

"Peter, when will you be free? I can't wait any longer!" Nemona suddenly jumped in, her face brimming with excitement.

She looked like a female version of Ash.

Unable to refuse her enthusiasm, Peter agreed. "My Pokémon are currently at the Pokémon Center. Let's do it tonight—you can come find me then."

"Okay! I'll go prepare right now!"

Kahili and Nessa also took the opportunity to bid farewell.

Only then did Peter begin discussing the Pokéblock recipe with Gardenia.

From her explanation, he learned that adding certain medicinal herbs to a basic Pokéblock formula could produce Intermediate Pokéblocks, but the bitterness had to be neutralized with powdered Revival Herb—otherwise, the effectiveness would be greatly reduced.

Fortunately, only a tiny amount of powder was needed. A single Revival Herb could last for a very long time.

After Gardenia finished explaining, a system notification rang in Peter's mind:

[Ding! Host has completed the commission quest and obtained the Intermediate Pokéblock Production Blueprint!]

[Intermediate Pokéblock Production Blueprint: Grants Pokéblock crafting techniques. Ensures a 100% success rate when producing Intermediate Pokéblocks.]

After using the reward, knowledge about producing Intermediate Pokéblocks instantly appeared in his mind.

The Pokéblocks he had previously obtained through draws were nearly used up—this came at the perfect time. Now he could craft his own and cover his Pokémon's daily needs.

After saying goodbye to Gardenia, Peter took Whitney to a herbal medicine shop.

He purchased a large batch of medicinal herbs according to the formula and arranged for delivery to the Pokémon Center the next morning before finally leaving with peace of mind.

As evening lights illuminated the streets, a young couple strolled side by side.

Holding Whitney's soft, chubby hand, Peter couldn't stop smiling. Even his steps were filled with joy. Whenever their eyes met, sweetness filled their hearts.

"Oh right, Whitney—this child is for you."

Peter took out a Poké Ball from his waist—it contained the female Teddiursa.

Whitney opened it. A sleepy Teddiursa appeared in her arms, rubbing its eyes with tiny paws.

"Teddi~ (*-q)"

"Ahhh—it's a Teddiursa… so cute!!"

Her pink eyes sparkled brightly. Standing on tiptoe, she pressed her cherry lips against Peter's cheek.

"Th-Thank you, honey!"
