"Mummy," Arthuro's voice filtered in from the phone.
I smiled, the kind that only a three-year-old could make me give.

"Who do we have on the line?" I feigned ignorance.
"It's me, mummyyy," Arthuro squealed with delight.
"And who are you?"
"Arthuro Thorne, and the smartest kid in the whole world."
Sophia laughed in the background.
I did too, already on my feet, my bag in one hand.
"Uh-huh. That's right, big guy. You're the smartest and coolest kid ever."
"Mummy,"
"Yes, my big guy," I mused, my head tilted to the side, phone pressed between my shoulder and ear.
"Did you thank Aunt Sophia for picking you up today?"
"Mmm," Arthuro hummed, "and I got chocolate candies too for being the most handsome three-year-old."
"You did?" I chuckled. "And did you say thank you to Aunt Sophia for the candies?"
I grabbed my keys from the desk on my way out of the office.
