Chapter 64 - Science God 64: Nyarlathotep

Berserker's form dissolved into black mist, vanishing.

"What a hassle… All I wanted was a peaceful life…"

Roman shook his head, brushed off the dust, and turned to head back inside for sleep.

Clap, clap, clap!

"Not bad for Jacob's descendant, Israel's greatest king. But… naming a basic attack? Isn't that a bit odd?"

Samuel emerged from the house. While Roman fought, Samuel had finished his seclusion.

Witnessing Roman's "Saint's Dragon Subjugation," Samuel found it amusingly trivial.

Though it channeled Saint Martha's dragon-taming myth from biblical lore, for Roman, it was just a fancy basic attack, barely more complex than Reinforcement Magecraft.

"Hey, life and work need some flair! Compared to me, you're the boring one!"

"I don't think naming an instinctive attack something grandiose counts as flair."

"It's not just grandiose—it's genuinely impressive. You're the dull one. Anyway, I'm off to nap. You tracking them down?"

Roman yawned, strolling back inside, unconcerned.

"No way! A Servant making their Master chase danger? I'm just a delicate guy with no combat skills!"

Samuel teased with a grin.

Roman, unfazed, didn't stop. "Tease all you want. Also… you've changed a lot. Getting cheekier."

Samuel leaned against a pillar, watching Roman saunter indoors.

This guy was absurdly lazy. Was the tireless, dedicated Roman who fought for humanity's future a fiction? Was this the real him?

No matter. If Roman didn't want to act, Samuel wouldn't force him. Without the constant data influx—his "firewall" gone—the world felt clearer, better. He even sensed… friendship.

Track them down? Of course!

A crimson-gold shimmer appeared behind Samuel, accompanied by distorted murmurs, shielding the figure's face from view, revealing only… his envisioned world.

The Angel of Humanity and Calculation, named "Leumas" by Samuel—originally his "firewall."

The "Ark of Civilization" represented calculation; Samuel embodied humanity. This was their fusion.

"Go check it out!"

The crimson light flickered and vanished, chasing the enemy's trail.

It leaped through space, arriving in a dark alley. The red glow didn't pierce the darkness, existing apart from the world.

A hooded figure stood there.

"Fascinating. To draw such an intriguing entity?"

A voice, neither male nor female, eerie and seductive, emanated from the figure.

"Oh? What should I call you, esteemed Outer God?"

Samuel's voice came from the "Leumas," chaotic—old and young, male and female, villain and saint, like countless voices in unison.

"Heh. A playful whim, and I encounter you. Humans here imagined something like me, so I'll borrow that name. In human tongue… call me Nyarlathotep!"

The figure raised its head, its face a shifting blur of countless visages, each real.

"Nyarlathotep? And… human imagination? Human tongue?"

Samuel understood.

Humans imagined an entity, and one strikingly similar existed. Like different cultures describing similar deities in distinct languages.

Not the same being, just an analogy.

This entity was from beyond, coincidentally matching a local tale. Thus, "Nyarlathotep" in human terms was It.

"Greetings, Nyarlathotep. Care to explain why you're trespassing in my domain?"

Crimson-gold light coalesced in his hand, forming flames—the fire of humanity's spark, embodying the legend of drilling wood to banish beasts.

This wisdom's flame countered non-human entities, its power scaling with their threat to humanity.

As a fragment of the Human Order, the "Leumas" amplified this "Flame of Humanity" against hostile entities, enhanced by the domain's resonance.

Outside this world, Samuel would be crushed. Here, he held the advantage.

"Just lending a hand to an amusing little fellow."

Nyarlathotep dismissed Samuel's threat. Despite Samuel's home-field advantage and flame's potency, It was leagues stronger—comparable to Aiwass, a monstrous entity.

It feared no threat. Worst case, It would leave.

"You know what? I hate rule-breakers."

Specifically, Samuel despised guests in his domain who ignored his rules.

Follow the rules, and he'd leave them be. Break them, stir trouble, and he'd eliminate them instantly.

"You can't kill me, and I want to play. How about this: I offer my knowledge for a ticket. I won't act directly—I'll control my pawns in this game. If they're eliminated, I leave. But… you can't intervene directly either. That'd be too dull."

"Hmph."

Samuel sneered. This Outer God underestimated him, thinking he'd trade for mere knowledge…

"You read me well. Deal!"

No choice—It offered too much. The knowledge would greatly refine his system.
