Three people sharing the loot—no, wait, let's call it "revenue."
Chisato handed over 10 million Yen to each of her two teammates.
Since her father had passed away and her mother was working herself to the bone, Shino was in desperate need of cash. She accepted the money with practiced dexterity and counted it on the spot; a true lover of coin. She adored this job—the pay was fast, and the best part? She didn't have to kill anyone.
Thanks to Chisato's "no-kill" policy, Shino hadn't even seen a drop of blood so far. Usually, when aiming at a target, she simply shot the weapon out of their hand.
Ryunosuke felt a bit sheepish accepting the money, considering he was the most idle one during the operation. But he figured it was fine; once the next mission started, he'd surely be given his fair share of the grunt work.
However, even with such high mission fees, generating billions in a mere two weeks felt impossible. So, at the LycoReco Café—the hidden headquarters of the Lycoris agent unit—he asked:
"Are there any missions with higher payouts? I... need a lot of money, urgently."
"Eh?" x2
Chisato and Shino, now dressed in their café uniforms, turned toward him. They were currently in "waitress mode," looking like any other standard maid café staff.
Chisato tapped her chin, feigning deep thought. "Hmm~ let me think. There is one, but the question is whether you're brave enough or not."
Ryunosuke's eyes sparkled with hope. "What kind of mission is it?"
Chisato wagged her finger with a broad grin. "An assassination mission for the blonde Lion King of a certain country. You game?"
"Forget it..." Ryunosuke instantly shriveled.
Chisato noted with a hint of mock regret, "I figured. No one is brave enough to take that one~"
"Of course not!" Ryunosuke protested with a shark-like mouth. "Who would take a job like that?! Do they have a death wish?!"
While polishing a long-stemmed glass, Shino chimed in. "I heard a colleague failed that hit recently because their Parkinson's made their hand shake. The shot went wide and just nicked the target's ear. So close to a headshot, such a shame."
"Why are you joining in on this?" Ryunosuke groaned. But he understood; no one in the world actually liked that "unreliable" guy anyway. It was all a joke; no one was actually going to do it.
Ryunosuke picked up a glass and sipped the red wine Shino had mixed for him. "Give me something else... anything else?"
Chisato pondered for a moment. "Domestically, there's a head worth 2.8 billion. Want to take it?"
"Though it's in Yen, so it's not as valuable as Dollars."
Ryunosuke was intrigued. "Whose head is worth that much?" He thought 2.8 billion was perfect—his debt hole was only 1.3 billion, meaning he could keep the change as savings.
However, Chisato's next words silenced him instantly.
"The strongest creature on earth, Hanma Yujiro."
Ryunosuke: "😐"
(Can you guys give me a normal mission for once? What kind of monsters are you even talking about?)
Chisato threw her hands up and set down her cleaning cloth. "Fine, how about a safer mission? Stealing the donut out of the hand of the Statue of Liberty or something. That pays well, around 100 million Dollars."
Ryunosuke slumped. "Forget it, that thing is too big, I can't steal it..."
"Your first thought was 'I can't steal it'?" Chisato muttered, though she nodded. "Well, it is quite heavy..."

On the other side of town, Megumi, who had successfully slipped out of school, faced a major hurdle: she had no idea where Ryunosuke actually was. She knitted her brows, trying to recall any scraps of info. She knew he was at a hospital owned by Nino's father—the clinic opened by Maruo.
But therein lay the problem. As Japan's top doctor, there was no way Maruo only had one hospital. Megumi was now lost, wandering like a headless fly.
She sighed. "How careless. I left without gathering complete intel." If she'd known, she would have asked for more details instead of roaming around aimlessly.

Meanwhile, Ryunosuke actually took the Yujiro mission. Yes, he did it... Though first, he had to ask Chisato, "Are you sure about this?"
Chisato replied with a slightly worried tone, "If we fight, we won't win. But if I want to run, even he won't be able to catch me."
Hearing that, Ryunosuke felt relieved. At least if they didn't win, they could bail. Ryunosuke took the job out of pure necessity; within Japan, this was the only mission that could yield such a massive payout.
The client was Old Man Tokugawa. He had a personal grudge against Yujiro and refused to believe the "Strongest Creature" couldn't be hurt. He didn't expect Yujiro to die; just drawing blood would be enough. But Ryunosuke didn't know that.
Ryunosuke decided to gamble—betting that even the strongest monster fears lead. He hoisted a Barrett sniper rifle and began aiming from the top of a building 1,000 meters away.
For some reason, Chisato decided to "play" along with him. But before starting, she warned: "If we don't win, we retreat immediately! Got it? Don't get stubborn."
Ryunosuke agreed; he intended to run faster than anyone...
Chisato sighed and donned a mask to hide her identity. If that monster held a grudge, they'd never be able to hide.
Chisato walked alone toward the entrance of a luxury hotel where Yujiro was staying.
Wearing a black shirt, black pants, and simple cloth shoes, Yujiro stepped out with an arrogant stride, hands in his pockets. He noticed the masked girl blocking his path and looked amused.
"Yo, little girl. You lost?"
"Blocking my path can have very serious consequences, you know."
Chisato said nothing. She lunged forward, pistol in hand, unleashing a volley of shots. Yujiro dodged them with a look of utter boredom.
Chisato clicked her tongue in admiration. "Truly the strongest creature on earth! You really aren't easy to handle."
She closed the distance, using her limbs to wrap around one of his arms, pressing her pistol against his joint, intending to fire at point-blank range.
But Yujiro was no amateur. He used the momentum, lifting the arm Chisato was clinging to, intending to slam her into the pavement. Chisato was forced to let go just in time.
*CRASH!*
The concrete floor shattered, leaving a hole 20cm deep. Chisato whistled.
"The destructive power is incredible. Is this even human?"
