Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: The Spider Behind

Spider Child used teleportation magic to catch up with the army's pace from the labyrinth via the fastest route, but she didn't contact Sophia and the others immediately. Instead, she hid in the shadows and followed them. When she saw Sophia and the others enter the Elf Forest through a teleportation array, she also used the spatial coordinates she had saved years ago to sneak inside.

There were several guards watching over the vicinity of the coordinates. However, due to the current shortage of manpower and the fact that Potimas never expected Spider Child to abandon the Demon Race's front lines, she easily dealt with the guards and slipped into the Elf Forest undetected.

"Still, it probably won't be long before Potimas discovers I've arrived. After all, it's that guy; no amount of overestimation is too much." Spider Child stealthily entered the interior of the Elf Forest. She had already located the Reincarnators' position a step ahead of Sophia and the others, and saw them being taken elsewhere by a group of the Elf Race.

Spider Child didn't rescue the Reincarnators immediately. Instead, she followed them out of curiosity, wanting to see what Potimas actually intended to do with them. If Potimas really wanted to devour the souls of the Reincarnators, she would definitely be able to see his Main Body then. If given the chance, she actually wanted to finish off Potimas's Main Body.

"Where exactly are you trying to take us?!"

One of the Reincarnators shouted emotionally at the group of elves.

But those elves only watched him coldly.

"Shut up. Just follow us obediently. Or do you want to suffer a bit before you'll listen?"

"Damn it!"

The male Reincarnator really wanted to resist.

But the moment he saw the Elf Race preparing to take action, he backed down.

Although these Reincarnators loathed these elves, they didn't dare to truly resist, likely due to past trauma. Furthermore, they indeed lacked the power to resist; having never trained their levels or skills, they were no different from newborn babies in front of these High Elves—beings that could be crushed at will.

Spider Child followed them all the way.

She saw them arrive before a teleportation array.

Quite a few young elves were also gathered here.

The man in front of the teleportation array was none other than the patriarch of the Elf Race—Potimas. This guy seemed to have a premonition of something, as he had rarely sent out so many clones to act today. One must know that his skills were actually quite different from true clones; he didn't have a Parallel Minds skill like Spider Child's that could split consciousness, so there was only one consciousness controlling the bodies. If not for the fact that machines could be installed with AI and set with action programs, he wouldn't be able to use multiple clones at the same time.

"Patriarch, the people have been brought here."

"Mm."

Potimas looked toward the nervous Reincarnators.

He didn't say anything to them.

Because these guys were just rations.

He had no interest in communicating with food.

"Prepare to begin. The barrier has been destroyed, and the human army will soon break in here." Potimas had already foreseen the outcome where the Elf Race would soon be defeated.

Those elves said nothing, merely following Potimas's orders to start preparing the teleportation array. The elves selected by Potimas were the more obedient ones; those who were disobedient had long been abandoned by him to block the army's advance and buy them time to retreat.

Spider Child watched this scene.

She silently prepared to strike.

She hadn't expected this old bug to think of retreating at a time like this. Clearly, the Elf Race still had a chance to turn defeat into victory, but this old bug didn't want to take a gamble at all.

A Dark Spear instantly pierced through Potimas's body.

Potimas watched the Dark Spear passing through his body and collapsed, unable to die in peace. His body emitted electric sparks as his eyes looked toward the pure white figure walking out of the darkness. Despite having a fatal injury, being a machine, he didn't die immediately.

"It's you?!"

"Seeking death!"

The mages of the Elf Race simultaneously cast spells toward the pure white figure.

But Spider Child simply wiped her hand, and the magic circles were forcibly extinguished. The mages of the Elf Race also collapsed instantly. Elven warriors rushed in front of Spider Child, but they couldn't even break through the magic barrier on her body; they were sent flying against the wall by a strike of terrifying magic power.

Potimas's head shouted, "How can you be here? Aren't you afraid the Hero will kill Ariel? Or do you just want to take revenge on me that badly?!"

Spider Child looked at the head for a good while before asking in confusion, "You're not an AI?"

"...Humph, my clones outside have already been killed, so of course I'm not an AI."

Potimas's tone was extremely displeased.

One must know that he had deployed nearly all his trump cards to deal with that Witch. Who could have imagined that the power of that one magic spell would be so strong? Not only did it ignore defenses, but its range was also so wide that even the backup he had hidden nearby was wiped out in one go.

Don't be fooled by how arrogant Potimas had acted in front of Sophia and the others just now; in reality, he was already panicking because he had made a wrong move, leading to heavy losses.

"Answer my question!"

Potimas shouted loudly.

Then a Dark Spear stabbed

over.

The head lost all movement along with the sound of an explosion.

Spider Child withdrew her hand.

Who would want to explain so much to an enemy?

Although she hadn't found this guy's Main Body yet, it should still be nearby. Moreover, it seemed the opponent wasn't nearly as troublesome as she had previously thought; he seemed to have reached the end of his rope. Otherwise, why would he be thinking of escaping? After all, this guy clearly hadn't noticed her just now, which meant that even against Tsukasa and the others, he no longer dared to keep fighting.

Spider Child looked at the group of Reincarnators and flicked her finger slightly. The ropes binding their hands were split apart, and they looked at everything in disbelief.

Spider Child rescued the Reincarnators. Sensing that Sophia and the others were approaching, she intended to leave this place to search for the location of Potimas's Main Body.

Seeing that Spider Child was about to leave, those people immediately called out anxiously, "Wait a second!"

However, Spider Child ignored them.

After all, she had to hurry and hunt down Potimas now.

If she was a step too slow and that guy's Main Body escaped, it would be bad.

The group watched as the pure white girl disappeared.

For a moment, they stayed in this cavern in silence.

After a long time, someone said softly, "That girl just now, it seemed like... she was Wakaba-san, right?"

"It should be her. Otherwise, there'd be no reason to save us. It's just..."

They thought of the combat power Spider Child had just displayed.

They had originally thought the elves and the Elf Patriarch were terrifyingly strong, yet in front of Spider Child, they couldn't even last a single move before being insta-killed. It simply surpassed their imagination.

Even though she was a former classmate,

they could now only look up to the current Spider Child.

This sense of disparity made them unable to adapt for a moment.

"I say, we should leave this place quickly."

"Right, let's escape fast. I don't want to be caught by those elves again!"
