Chapter 18 - HOUSEWARMING PARTY

THE MANSION that Park Seoham owned was an ultra-modern house with a state-of-the-art design.

It was impressive.

Woori just a bit surprised that the house wasn't as big as the other mansions around.

However…

I prefer a house this size, not that my opinion matters.

"My house is smaller than the others, isn't it?"

"It only looks "small" because the other mansions around are gigantic," Woori said, and she was telling the truth. That "small" mansion was still enough to house at least eight people. "If your house is bigger than this, I would have felt uncomfortable."

"You used to live in a big house."

"Hey, this house is at least twice as big as my parents' old house. You probably remember wrong since it has been years."

"Uh-huh."

"Anyway, do I get my own room?"

Park Seoham knitted his eyebrows. "Do you think I'd let you sleep in the living room or something?"

Woori just shrugged.

"Yah."

"You can't blame me," Woori insisted defensively. "You never fail to remind me that you're going to make my life miserable as a revenge for hurting you in the past. So, I'm always prepared to receive your cruelty."

Park Seoham rolled his eyes. "You sound like a character from a makjang— so dramatic."

"Am I wrong, though?"

"Just follow me, okay?"

And she did.

Woori followed Park Seoham until they reached the third floor of the mansion.

But why here?

The third floor was where the master bedroom was.

"That will be your room," Park Seoham said, pointing at the room next to the master bedroom. "It's as big as the master bedroom, so you can use half of the space as your studio if you want."

Why does this guy seem to be set on making me paint again, even though I've already told him that I have given up on painting?

But that wasn't the main issue right now.

Her room was attached to the master bedroom!

"Seoham-ssi, your bedroom is a master suite with an adjoining room," Woori stated the obvious, confused. "Why are you giving the attached room to me? There are other rooms on the second floor."

"So that I can keep an eye on you, obviously."

"Are there spy cameras in my room?"

Park Seoham scoffed, obviously offended. "What do you take me for, a pervert?"

"If you're not a pervert, then give me another room."

"That won't work on me. In the first place, you don't have the right to pick your own room. My house, my rules."

Tsk.

"Go to your room and unpack your things," Park Seoham said while turning his back on her. "Then cook lunch for me once you're done."

Aigoo.

Woori whispered to herself: "He's so good at playing the role of a young master."

***

THE BEDROOM wasn't just spacious, clean, and fully-furnished.

There were three things that stood out for Woori.

First, the room had good lighting because the huge windows absorbed natural light from outside. The view was beautiful as well since the room was facing the garden.

I think this is the best room in the house?

Second, all the pieces of furniture suited her style, from the color palette to the design.

It's as if Park Seoham studied my small house, and applied everything he learned about my taste to create this room for me.

Third, there was a drafting table next to the study desk (with a very comfortable chair).

Haaah.

It was similar to the drafting table that Woori used to have in her bedroom before.

That's the table that I like using the best when I'm drawing.

Haaah.

Woori knew that she shouldn't assume, but…

This room is definitely made for me.

***

IT WAS a shame, but Woori couldn't show off her cooking skills to Park Seoham yet.

Instead of making lunch, she simply heated the galbi-jjim (braised beef short ribs) that Aunt Mira packed for her, then served it with the side dishes that Aunt Mira also made.

Oh!

She did cook the rice, though.

"How's the rice?"

Park Seoham, who was eating with gusto, looked at her in confusion. "Why are you asking me about the rice when you should be asking me if I liked the main dish?"

"You're clearly enjoying Aunt Mira's galbi-jjim, so I didn't feel the need to ask," Woori said, shrugging her shoulders. "But I cooked the rice."

"No, the rice cooker did the job."

"Wow. Someone knows how to be sarcastic now, huh?"

"Knowing how to cook the rice is basic," Park Seoham said, scoffing. "If you can't even do that, then what's the point of hiring you?"

Right.

"So, did you like the rice or not?"

"I'm eating it, am I not?"

"Will it kill you to give a proper answer?"

Park Seoham ignored Woori this time, and then he continued eating with gusto.

Aigoo.

He's so stingy with compliments now.

Park Seoham suddenly stopped eating, and then he looked at Woori. "Stop pouting and just eat, Joo Woori."

Woori sighed and picked up her chopsticks. "Yes, Boss."

***

"I'LL WASH the dishes."

Huh?

Woori was surprised when Park Seoham suddenly grabbed the rubber gloves from her. "It's my job, though?"

"You cooked."

"Not really. I just reheated the braised ribs and cooked the rice."

"Joo Woori, just go to your room and rest. Stop arguing with your boss."

"But I have to earn my salary…"

"Joo Woori, don't make me repeat myself."

"Then at least tell me why—"

"You're a painter, so you should be extra careful of your hands," Park Seoham said in an annoyed voice, but his face said otherwise. "If you already got the answer you want, then go."

Oh.

Woori was stunned, but she quickly pulled herself together because she could see right through Park Seoham.

He's really determined to make me fall for him again, then probably dump me later.
