Chapter 553 - Leisure Choice

Although past experience showed that personally entering other worlds often yielded far greater rewards than simply staying behind and receiving visitors, Noa understood one simple truth—greater rewards usually came with greater risks.

And if the risk became too high, there was no rule saying he had to take it.

At worst, he would simply spend more time achieving the same results through safer means.

Fortunately, time was something he did not lack.

At present, Noa had no urgent goals pressing him forward, nor any powerful enemies threatening his existence. Within the Great Tree Village, he stood at the absolute peak. There was no immediate danger, no looming crisis that demanded reckless action.

In fact, he could remain where he was, managing his domain at his own pace, unconcerned with the chaos of external worlds.

When he thought about it this way, the answer seemed almost obvious.

This approach… was perfectly viable.

And perhaps—

He had simply been too busy lately.

Wouldn't it be better to slow down and actually enjoy life for a while? Instead of constantly seeking new challenges, new risks, and new gains, maybe it was time to appreciate what he had already built.

Looking at the current state of himself and the Great Tree Village, and comparing it to where he had started, Noa couldn't help but feel a hint of self-awareness creeping in.

He had been pushing himself too hard.

From the very beginning, his goal had never been relentless expansion. Building the Great Tree Village was simply a natural result of acquiring the system—a long-term project, not an obsession.

Even recruiting new residents had originally been about practicality: sharing the workload, reducing his own burden, and making life easier.

So when had that changed?

When had he gone from wanting a comfortable life to constantly chasing progress?

Now, even with the opportunity to relax right in front of him, he found himself unwilling to stop. Worse, he was actively considering venturing into dangerous worlds just to gain more benefits.

It didn't quite make sense.

Even if development was important, there was no need to push this hard.

After all, in less than half a year, the results were already impressive.

The village was stable. The systems were functioning. The population was growing. By any reasonable standard, it was a success.

"Maybe it's enough… for now," Noa thought.

With winter approaching, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to slow down. He could take a break, enjoy life, organize his thoughts, and plan more carefully for the future.

When the time came next year, he could resume expansion with a clearer mind.

That realization struck him like a moment of clarity.

He had drifted away from his original intention—but now, he had found it again.

It was time to live a little.

Eat when he wanted, rest when he felt like it, and enjoy the world he had created.

A waste of time?

Hardly.

He had been working nonstop for nearly half a year. Taking a break was not laziness—it was balance.

Even the hardest-working laborers needed rest. Pushing endlessly without pause would only lead to burnout, no matter how capable he was.

Still, relaxation did not mean abandoning all planning.

Even if he chose not to personally venture into that dangerous world, there were still ways to benefit from it.

His gaze subtly shifted toward Misaka Mikoto, who was currently accompanying him.

Yes… there were smarter ways to achieve his goals.

With that thought in mind, Noa began guiding her through the Great Tree Village, offering a casual tour. As they walked, he let out a soft sigh, as if speaking more to himself than to her.

"Ah… there are still too few people here. It's called a Great Tree Village, but in reality, it's only about the size of a village."

Hearing this, Mikoto tilted her head slightly, clearly puzzled.

"Is that so?" she said after a moment. "I think it's already pretty good. Everything here feels… magical. And everyone seems to be living happily."

Her answer was sincere, but cautious. She wasn't entirely sure what Noa was trying to imply, so she chose her words carefully, sticking to her honest impression without overanalyzing the situation.

Noa fell silent for a brief moment.

"…It would be strange if they weren't happy," he thought to himself.

After all, with everything provided for them—resources, safety, and opportunity—there was little reason for dissatisfaction.

Still, her response was not quite what he had expected.

Or perhaps…

She simply hadn't taken the bait.
