Chapter 141 - Ch141: New Bounties

The crew's attention snapped from the newly transformed Wyper, his crackling black-and-gold wings and plasma-white eyes a stark declaration of his ascension, to a sudden, silent manifestation in the air before them.

Sheets of pristine, high-quality parchment materialized out of nothing, floating gently down into their waiting hands.

There was no news coo, no sound of flapping wings, only the abrupt, impossible appearance of the latest bounty posters.

They all knew, without a shred of doubt, that this was the work of Morgans, their Angel of Propaganda, using his divine reach to deliver the news directly to them, no matter how remote their location.

A collective, anticipatory silence fell over the island. Each member of the Vortex Pirates looked down at the paper that had chosen them.

Ragnar took his poster first. The image was a dynamic, slightly blurred shot from Sabaody, capturing him in mid-motion, a streak of white and gold, his expression one of calm, absolute authority. The text was bold and brutal.

["SEA SCOURGE" VORTEX D. RAGNAR]

[ONLY ALIVE]

[฿2,500,000,000]

A satisfied smile spread across his face. Two and a half billion. A number that placed him firmly in the realm of the powers that sought to rule the world.

It was a statement of his threat level, an acknowledgment that the World Government could no longer afford to treat him as an upstart. He had earned this fear.

Next, Zoro grunted as he snatched his poster. The image was a perfect capture of his Eyes of the North Star in action, his green halo blazing, one hand pointing with unerring accuracy while the other held a sword wreathed in Haki. He looked like a demonic war god.

["PIRATE HUNTER" RORONOA ZORO

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿1,400,000,000]

"Tch. Not bad," he muttered, though the glint in his eyes showed he was more than pleased. Over a billion on his head was a swordsman's dream.

Kuro received his with a silent, analytical gaze. His poster showed him as a phantom, a smear of high-speed motion, his cat-like claws extended and blurry. It was an image that evoked unease, the feeling of a predator you couldn't quite see.

["NIGHTMARE BUTLER" KURO

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿1,000,000,000]

He gave a slight, almost imperceptible nod. A clean, even number. Appropriate for the clean, efficient work he performed.

Bartolomeo nearly fainted when he saw his. The poster was a glorious, full-color spread of him standing defiantly before a golden barrier, his face contorted in a fanatical scream of devotion, the winged spear symbol prominent behind him.

["BARRIER APOSTLE" BARTOLOMEO

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿980,000,000]

"SO CLOSE! SO CLOSE TO A BILLION FOR THE CAPTAIN'S SAKE!" he wailed, falling to his knees and pounding the ground before clutching the poster to his chest like a holy relic. "I WILL BECOME WORTHY OF A HIGHER BOUNTY! I SWEAR IT!"

Then it was Wyper's turn. His new poster was terrifyingly apt. It showed him mid-transformation, his body wreathed in lightning, his Burn Blade raised high, his face a mask of pure, unadulterated wrath. The title sent a chill through the air.

["SKY'S WRATH" WYPER

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿1,300,000,000]

Ragnar glanced at the poster, then at Wyper. 'One point three billion,' he thought.

'A higher initial bounty than Kuro or Bartolomeo. The World Government is terrified. They see his Logia fruit, they see the raw, destructive power of lightning. They're pricing him based on his potential for mass devastation.'

The women received theirs with a mix of excitement and acceptance.

Nami's poster showed her not just as a navigator, but as a tactician, a faint, knowing smile on her lips as she seemed to be calculating the destruction around her.

["WEATHER WITCH" NAMI

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿700,000,000]

"Seven hundred million berries…" Nami whispered, her eyes gleaming with a different kind of light.

"That's… that's a lot of treasure."

Robin was more somber. It captured her serene, beautiful face, multiple arms sprouting around her, holding books and artifacts, an image that spoke of ancient knowledge and a quiet, formidable power.

["DEVILS CHILD" NICO ROBIN

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿900,000,000]

Nine hundred million. A number that reflected the enduring fear the World Government had of the woman who could read the Poneglyphs, now amplified by her association with Ragnar. She accepted it with a calm, resigned dignity.

Nojiko's poster was a surprise. It showed her in a dynamic fighting pose, her twin tonfa crackling with blue energy, her expression fierce and determined.

["DIVINE ASSASSIN" NOJIKO

DEAD OR ALIVE

฿550,000,000]

She blinked in shock. "Five hundred and fifty million? For me?" A proud grin slowly spread across her face. She had carved her own place in this monstrous crew.

Finally, Isabella looked at her poster. The image was gentle, showing her healing a minor cut on Bonney's arm, a soft, maternal light in her eyes. But the title and bounty were anything but gentle.

["ANGELIC HEALER" ISABELLA

ONLY ALIVE

฿400,000,000]

"Only Alive…" she read aloud, a complex emotion in her voice. They wanted her knowledge, her unique abilities. It was a different kind of threat, but a threat nonetheless.

Bonney, who didn't have a new bounty yet, only the old one pouted for a moment before joining in the cheers, grabbing a piece of meat from the previous night's leftovers, and munching on it happily.

The atmosphere was one of jubilant triumph. They had come so far from their individual origins, a captain, a wandering swordsman, a retired assassin, a fanboy, a warrior from a lost civilization, a thief, an archaeologist, and a doctor.

Now, they were a unified force with a combined bounty that would make Emperors take notice.

Ragnar looked over his crew, his angels, his family. His smile was one of genuine, profound pride. "You've all earned this," he said, his voice carrying over their celebrations.

"This is not the end. This is merely the world acknowledging the beginning of our ascent. Remember this feeling. Let it fuel you for the battles to come."

….

Meanwhile, cutting gracefully through the unnaturally still waters of the Calm Belt, the massive, ornate snake-pulled ship of the Kuja Pirates glided forward.

At its prow, standing with an imperial grace that defied the humid, oppressive air, was Boa Hancock. She held a single, freshly materialized bounty poster in her hands, delivered to her by the same mysterious means.

Her eyes, usually sharp and commanding, softened into pools of liquid adoration as she stared at the image. "Ragnar…" she breathed, her voice a hushed, reverent whisper. The poster showed his 2.5 billion berry bounty.

The surrounding Kuja warriors, who had been diligently manning the ship, couldn't help but sneak glances.

Their Empress, the proud, untouchable beauty who scorned all men, was staring at a piece of paper with the blush of a maiden and a smile so happy it seemed to light up the gloomy seascape. Whispers began to circulate among them.

"Is that… a man?"

"The Empress is smiling… at a man?"

"Who is he?"

Hancock's two sisters, Marigold and Sandersonia, stood nearby, their expressions a mixture of helplessness and deep affection for their older sister.

They had seen the change in her since she returned from Marineford, a lightness in her step, a secret smile that would sometimes grace her lips. Seeing it so openly displayed now confirmed everything.

Hancock, suddenly realizing she had an audience, snapped back to reality. The lovesick maiden vanished, replaced in an instant by the proud, domineering Pirate Empress. Her cheeks flushed a deeper red, this time from embarrassment.

"Stop gawking, you fools!" she commanded, her voice regaining its haughty edge. "We do not have time to waste! Increase our speed! We must make haste to… to my dear… ugh! I mean, to the Captain's location! Immediately!"

She stomped her foot, causing the deck to tremble slightly. The Kuja pirates scrambled to obey, increasing the rowing pace, their curiosity burning brighter than ever.

Marigold and Sandersonia exchanged a look and a quiet, knowing smile. Despite the bluster and the dramatic recovery, they were truly happy for her.

For the first time in over a decade, their sister had found someone who didn't inspire fear or hatred, but genuine, unguarded joy.

And they were eager to meet the man, the "Sea Scourge," who had managed to capture the heart of the most beautiful and stubborn woman in the world.
