A massive dark shadow slowly emerged from behind the largest barn.
Leon's eyes widened instantly.
It was a monster.
A bipedal colossus, nearly three meters tall.
Its muscles bulged like knotted granite, and its skin was an unhealthy, ashen gray, covered in crisscrossing sutures and hideous scars.
The most terrifying part was its head.
It wasn't a human head, but a massive bull's head! Curved, sharp horns reflected the cold moonlight with a grim glint, and its bell-like eyes burned with pure, crimson fury.
Thick white steam, mixed with foul-smelling saliva, constantly puffed out from its massive nostrils.
In its right hand, it dragged a massive axe taller than a man.
The blade was broad and heavy, with terrifying barbs on the back. Several rusty chains were haphazardly wrapped between the handle and the head, clattering harshly as it moved.
It looked like a mobile hill of blood and death stepped out of ancient mythology.
Leon's fingers tightened slightly around his shotgun; he felt his worldview being hit with an unprecedented shock.
He had seen Lickers, Tyrants, and all sorts of twisted creatures spawned by viruses, but this... this thing was completely beyond the realm of science and logic.
He instinctively turned his head and said to Noah beside him, "Am I dreaming? Did I accidentally transmigrate into a game of Warcraft? What is this? A Tauren???"
His voice carried a sense of absurdity bordering on sheer bewilderment, as if he were checking to see if he had gone mad.
"Then you'd better watch out for its War Stomp skill," Noah joked, even finding himself in the mood for it.
"Roar—!"
As if enraged by the whispering of the two tiny humans, the Minotaur Giant suddenly raised its head and let out a deafening roar!
Its massive body initiated a charge with a speed completely at odds with its size!
Every step made the soft, damp ground tremble! It raised the terrifying giant axe high and slammed it down toward the trailer where Leon was hiding!
The two of them dove in opposite directions simultaneously.
Boom!!!
A deafening explosion rang out! Under the impact of the giant axe, the iron-clad agricultural trailer was split down the middle like a fragile tin can, sending twisted metal parts flying in all directions.
Leon rolled on the ground to avoid the flying debris. He looked up at the wreckage of the trailer split in two, a cold sweat breaking out on his back.
The power of that single swing was enough to cleave an SUV in half.
Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his hand and fired several shots at the Minotaur Giant's massive body.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The handgun bullets accurately hit the target's chest and abdomen, but the result was despairing.
The bullets hit the skin, which was as tough as leather, only splashing a small amount of blood before being stuck fast by the granite-like muscle layer. They couldn't even create a decent wound, let alone cause effective damage.
To it, this kind of attack was like a mosquito bite.
"Roar!"
The Minotaur Giant was further enraged by the provocation. It turned its massive body, its crimson eyes locking onto Leon, and charged again.
Leon immediately turned and ran swiftly along the outer wall of the barn.
Using various obstacles in the farm—haystacks, wooden fences, abandoned plows—he constantly shifted positions, moving like a nimble butterfly at the edge of the monster's attack range.
Noah circled around to the back of the Minotaur Giant from the other side. His handgun also fired continuously, each bullet precisely aimed at the back of the Minotaur Giant's neck and its knee joints.
Although he couldn't inflict a fatal wound, the persistent harassment successfully distracted the monster.
The Minotaur Giant was completely infuriated by these two slippery flies.
It had been fighting for a long time but couldn't even touch the edge of their clothes, only feeling bursts of annoying stings on its body.
What little reason it had was completely burned away. It stopped its pursuit and stood in the center of the farm, falling into a state of frenzy.
"Heh heh heh—Roar!!"
It swung the giant axe in its hands wildly, the heavy iron tool turning into a whirlwind of destruction in its grasp.
Boom!
A low shed was smashed to pieces at its waist, wood chips and thatch flying everywhere.
Clang!
The wooden fences used to pen sheep and cattle were swept away in sections, scaring the livestock into fleeing in all directions. The farm was suddenly a chaotic mess.
It destroyed everything in sight in the most primitive and savage way. Every swing of the axe carried a whistling sound that tore the air, and every strike left a terrifying crater in the ground.
Leon and Noah hid far away behind a relatively sturdy barn, watching the monster rage impotently outside, smashing the perfectly good farm to bits.
"Whoa, this guy's got some stamina," Leon said, peeking his head out and clicking his tongue as he watched the destruction that had lasted nearly ten minutes.
"He just has no brains," Noah shrugged, leaning against the wall.
Just as Noah expected, pure rage consumed pure stamina.
A few more minutes passed, and the Minotaur Giant's movements clearly began to become sluggish and heavy.
Each swing of the axe required a longer interval, and every gasp for breath seemed to drain all the air from its lungs.
The giant axe, which it had handled with ease before, had now become its heaviest burden.
Finally, it stopped, its massive body swaying. It leaned both hands on the axe handle, which was buried deep in the mud, its chest heaving violently as it panted heavily.
The opportunity had come.
Just as the Minotaur Giant leaned down slightly, attempting to pull the axe out of the ground.
A dark shadow burst out from the shadows of the barn!
Noah didn't pause for a second. As he approached the Minotaur Giant, he kicked off the ground heavily, his entire body leaping like a cannonball.
In mid-air, using an extremely tricky angle, he kicked the Minotaur Giant right on its wrist joint!
Crack!
A crisp, bone-chilling sound of fracturing rang out.
The Minotaur Giant cried out in pain, a short wail escaping it as its fingers gripping the axe handle instinctively loosened.
As Noah's body descended, his hands followed through and gripped the incredibly heavy axe handle.
He could feel a terrifying weight transmitting from his palms; this thing weighed at least several thousand catties!
Using the strength of his waist and abdomen, he forcibly snatched the giant axe from the Minotaur Giant's loosened grip and, following the momentum of the rotation, carved a deadly arc in the air!
Squelch—!
The cold axe blade, carrying all of Noah's strength and its own terrifying weight, sliced horizontally through the Minotaur Giant's thick waist with the force of a thunderbolt.
There was no resistance, like a hot knife through butter.
The Minotaur Giant's movements froze.
For the first time, a look of bewilderment appeared in its crimson eyes.
It looked down and saw its upper and lower halves slowly separating.
Then the massive upper body, along with that hideous bull's head, slowly slid off from the waist and slammed heavily onto the ground, splashing a mess of mud mixed with organs and blood.
The lower half stood in place for another two seconds before collapsing with a crash.
Noah casually threw the impossibly heavy axe onto the ground, letting out a loud "clang" that made the ground shake.
Leon stepped out from behind the barn. He looked at the two massive halves of the corpse on the ground, then at Noah, and finally, his gaze fell on the giant axe.
He walked over, took a deep breath, leaned down, gripped the axe handle with both hands, and used every ounce of his strength.
"Ugh...!"
His face turned bright red, and the veins on his arms bulged, but the axe didn't even wobble; it remained completely unmoved.
This was simply not a weight a human could lift!
Leon gave up. He straightened his back and let out a long breath.
Then he started walking in circles around Noah, his gaze scanning him up and down as if searching for something.
Noah found it baffling: "What are you looking for?"
Leon stopped and stared at him solemnly: "Looking for the giant eyeballs on your body. I remember those infected by the g-virus always grow a bunch of giant eyeballs. Where are yours? Hiding them?"
The muscles on Noah's face twitched.
"...Drop dead."
"Hahaha!" Leon let out a hearty laugh. The frustration of being chased around by the Minotaur Giant earlier was swept away in an instant.
After laughing, the two began to inspect the trashed farm.
Soon, in the barn the Minotaur Giant had burst out of, they found a smashed wooden box. Inside lay a large, grease-covered metal gear.
It was exactly the missing part from the windmill.
The two carried the gear to the windmill and fitted it into the empty slot.
With a crisp "click," the ancient mechanical structure inside the windmill re-engaged.
The two pushed the massive lever. Amidst a bone-chilling "creak," the large, heavy wooden gate beneath the mill slowly rose, opening the path to the rear.
The path led to a tunnel.
The tunnel was long and steep, the air filled with the scent of damp earth and decay.
After walking for about five minutes, a faint light finally appeared ahead.
They passed through the tunnel, the exit located at the base of a cliff, cleverly concealed by thick bushes.
Leon pushed aside the branches in front of him and cautiously observed the outside.
Ahead was an open river valley with a stream gurgling through it.
On the clearing on the opposite bank of the stream, seven or eight Villager stood in the shadows.
They were no longer holding farm tools, but... Leon's breath hitched.
In the hands of those Villager were sticks of yellow dynamite with fuses sticking out!
