Noah watched her standing in the middle of the corridor, carrying that heavy weapon that was completely disproportionate to her slender frame.

The residual heat from the flames still scorched their skin in the air.

The pungent smell of burning, mixed with the scent of fuel, made their eyes sting.

He stepped forward slowly without speaking, merely reaching out to gently tuck a lock of her reddish-brown hair, curled by the heat, behind her ear.

Claire's body trembled slightly.

She turned her head, and in those eyes reflecting the embers of the fire, the cold flames were slowly receding, replaced once again by her own clear light.

"I'm fine."

Her voice carried a hint of stiff hoarseness.

She simply could not tolerate this pure, undisguised evil that treated life as a petri dish.

Noah nodded. He took a bottle of lemonade from his tactical backpack, unscrewed it, and handed it to her.

"Let's keep moving."

His voice was calm, yet it possessed a reassuring strength.

Claire took the lemonade and took several large gulps. The sweet, sour, and cold liquid slid down her throat, quenching the last of the roiling anger in her heart.

She readjusted the position of the heavy Flamethrower on her back, her gaze becoming firm once more.

At the end of the passage was an even thicker circular gate covered in warning signs.

This was the true core area of the NE-Alpha Incubation Nest.

Noah used Sophia's bracelet again to unlock the gate.

This time, there was no hydraulic hum or mechanical creak.

The gate, like the pupil of a silent giant beast, wordlessly contracted inward to open.

The world behind the door suddenly opened up, but it also caused their breath to catch once again.

It was a massive, fan-shaped expanse of space.

The entire area was clearly divided into two parts by thick bulletproof glass extending from the floor to the ceiling.

Where they stood now was the narrow end of the fan, a circular corridor paved with cold metal flooring.

This was the Observation Zone.

On the other side of the glass, the massive fan-shaped area that occupied most of the space was the Test Zone.

Except... it wasn't a Test Zone.

It was Hell.

A living gallery built from pain and despair.

Rows of transparent cylindrical cultivation tanks stood in the Test Zone.

But at this moment, these tanks were empty. The real 'exhibits' were displayed in the open spaces between them.

Dozens of corpses.

Or rather, shriveled husks that were once human, all wearing uniform orange prison jumpsuits.

Clearly, they were prisoners Umbrella had brought from somewhere to be used as consumables.

Every single one of them maintained a posture of extreme agony from the moment of their death.

Some knelt on the ground, hands desperately clawing at their own chests, as if trying to rip their own hearts out alive.

Some had their bodies eerily folded backward, spines snapped at impossible angles, faces frozen in silent, heart-wrenching screams.

Others had used their own heads to frantically bash against the hard ground until their skulls shattered and brains spilled out.

Their manners of death were varied and strange, yet they all pointed toward the same horrific source.

Their bodies all displayed an extremely abnormal shriveling.

The skin was like leather drained of all moisture, tightly wrapping around the contours of the bones, showing an unsettling greyish-pale hue.

And on every person's chest or abdomen, there was a massive, hideous wound that had burst open from the inside out.

The edges of the wounds were turned outward, the flesh having dried into a blackish-brown color.

Broken ribs could be seen inside, along with internal organs that had been gnawed into incomplete fragments.

It was as if something inside their bodies had grown and strengthened after siphoning all of their life essence.

Finally, it had burst through the body in the most cruel and bloody manner.

Claire's body froze in place.

Her pupils reflected the hellish scene on the other side of the glass, contracting violently.

She had just used fire to purify one tragedy.

She turned around only to see a massacre on an even larger and more inhumane scale.

The mixture of nausea and anger she had forcibly suppressed exploded like a lit powder keg.

"Those bastards..."

Her teeth ground together, every word squeezed out from between them.

"Those... bastards who deserve to go to Hell ten thousand times!"

She abruptly raised her arm.

The muzzle of the Flamethrower, whose fire had only just been extinguished, aimed once again at the evil before her.

"Claire, wait!"

Noah pressed down on her arm.

"That glass is specially made; the Flamethrower won't get through it."

His voice calmly pointed out a cruel reality.

Claire's chest heaved violently. She stared fixedly at the carnage on the other side of the glass, her eyes bloodshot.

"That door..."

Her gaze locked onto an alloy isolation door at the end of the Observation Zone corridor that led to the Test Zone.

"I'm going to burn that place."

Her voice was devoid of emotion, like ice that had been frozen for ten thousand years.

"I'm going to burn those disgusting things, along with this damn place, to ashes!"

Noah did not stop her again.

He knew that if he didn't let Claire vent this emotion, this scar would be permanently branded into her heart.

He nodded.

"I'll look for the control console. You purify this place."

The two split up.

Claire took large strides, carrying the heavy weapon, and walked without hesitation toward the door leading to Hell.

Meanwhile, Noah began to quickly search for valuable clues in the circular Observation Zone.

Several computers were embedded in the walls of the Observation Zone.

Most of them were already black screens.

Fortunately, in the middle of the corridor, he found a main control console.

Several monitors still glowed with a faint blue light, displaying complex and constantly jumping data streams.

Noah sat at the console, his fingers tapping rapidly on the keyboard.

He needed information.

About this incubation nest, about that parasite, and about everything that happened here.

At the same time.

"Boom—"

The sound of the isolation door opening echoed in the empty space.

Claire stepped into the Test Zone filled with the scent of death and decay.

She did not hesitate for a moment.

She didn't even take another look at the miserable deaths of those prisoners.

She simply raised the weapon in her hands and pulled the trigger.

"Whoosh—!!!!"

The fire dragon of vengeance roared forth once again.

This time, its fury was even more intense and violent than before.

The orange-red flames, like a flood breaking through a dam, instantly swept through the entire Test Zone.

The flames greedily licked at the shriveled corpses.

Consuming their twisted postures, their frozen agony, and their dignity that had been discarded like trash.

Skin, muscle, and bone quickly carbonized, disintegrated, and turned to ash under the heat exceeding a thousand degrees.

The invisible traces of parasites that had burst from their bodies were also completely vanished from this world under the purification of the flames.

Claire walked forward slowly, step by step.

The fire dragon in her hands also, step by step, completely erased this foul place from the map.

There was no expression on her face.

Her gaze was hollow, yet exceptionally focused.

She was like a goddess devoid of emotion, executing the final judgment.

Using the purest destruction to commemorate those innocent Souls who had passed away.

The firelight passed through the thick bulletproof glass, casting a massive, wildly dancing shadow on the metal walls of the Observation Zone.

Noah's face was also illuminated in a bright red.

He did not turn back to watch the purification ritual that burned everything.

All of his energy was concentrated on the screen in front of him.

He opened Umbrella's test record folder.

Segments of long-buried, bloody records appeared before his eyes.

[Project Code: Vespidae Progenitor]

[Project Description: A new type of parasitic organism based on NE-Alpha parasite gene fragments, subjected to directional optimization and cultivation. Goal: Eliminate NE-Alpha's dependency on specific host genes, achieve rapid parasitism and mental control over any carbon-based organism, and construct a highly social B.O.W. Hive Network...]

Noah's brow furrowed slightly.

Vespidae.

Hive Network.

Umbrella's ambition was far more insane than he had imagined.

He continued to scroll down.

The experimental reports were shocking.

Video recordings popped up on the screen one after another.

A Doberman Pinscher injected with the 'Vespidae Progenitor' parasite emitted a cry of agony within just a few seconds.

Its body twitched and expanded violently.

Then, its chest suddenly burst open.

A massive, hideous monster, looking like a combination of a beetle and a spider, crawled out of the Doberman Pinscher's corpse, covered in slime and bloodstains.

In another video.

A chimpanzee locked in a cage underwent a terrifying mutation in its limbs after being parasitized.

Its arms became like the scythes of a praying mantis, sharp and lethal.

It didn't seem to have completely lost its intelligence, but its eyes were filled with chaos, pain, and bloodthirsty madness.

Using its newly grown scythes, it easily tore open the specialized alloy cage and instantly decapitated a nearby Researcher who didn't have time to escape.

The footage was bloody and cruel.

Noah expressionlessly closed the video window.

He found another document marked 'Top Priority'.

[Biological Sonic Suppression Protocol Report]

[...After repeated testing, it has been confirmed that the 'Vespidae Progenitor' parasite and all its derivative B.O.W.s exhibit a physiological rejection reaction to specific sound wave frequencies.]

[Frequency Setting: 74.4 Hz.]

[Effect: This frequency can directly destroy the neural centers of small parasites, causing immediate death. For mature individuals exceeding a certain size threshold (such as'Soldier' class units), this frequency only causes brief dizziness and sluggishness, lasting approximately 15-30 seconds.]

[Note: The 'Infrasonic Matrix Generator' deployed within the Ecological Zone requires at least 120 seconds of cooling time after each activation to prevent irreversible damage to the core vocal units. The sound waves are harmless to humans.]

[...The team is currently working to overcome this weakness in hopes of breeding the perfect Hive weapon...]

Noah's mind raced.

Fire.

And specific frequency sound waves.

These were the only two known weaknesses for dealing with this new type of parasite.

He glanced at an independent activation button next to the console, covered by a red protective shield.

Above the button, it clearly read: 'Ecological Zone Infrasonic Matrix Generator - Emergency Activation'.

This was their life-saving trump card.

Just then, the fire in the testing area gradually died down.

Claire's figure reappeared at the entrance of the isolation door.

She lowered the Flamethrower; she had already consumed nearly a third of the full fuel tank.

She walked over and stood behind Noah, looking at the content on the screen.

Her face was still pale.

"These things..." Her voice was somewhat airy.

"...Are these the monsters that crawled out of those prisoners' bodies?"

"More than that." Noah's voice was heavy.

He clicked on the last folder, which also had the highest clearance level.

[B.O.W. Mature Form Development Log - Rosépines de Versailles (Versailles Rose Thorns)]

A clear, high-resolution 3D model popped up on the screen.

It was a monster that made one's skin crawl just by looking at it.

Its main body retained the basic form of a hornet, but its size had been scaled up nearly several hundred times, reaching over a meter in length.

Its head was covered in a thick, black carapace with a metallic sheen, and its pair of massive compound eyes flickered with an ominous red light.

And its forelimbs had completely mutated.

They were no longer insectoid appendages, but two massive, sharp, bone-like hooked claws resembling a Grim Reaper's scythes.

The tips of the hooks glinted with a razor-sharp cold light.

"According to the logs, this is a new type of B.O.W. born from merging the 'Vespidae Progenitor' parasite with the genes of an Asian Giant Hornet."

Noah's voice sounded like he was stating a fact that had nothing to do with him.

"They have been named 'Rosépines de Versailles'."

"Extremely violent, bloodthirsty, and highly aggressive. They will indiscriminately attack any target they perceive as a threat or food."

Claire stared intently at the monster on the screen.

"Does it have a weakness?"

"Yes."

Noah tapped the screen lightly.

The 3D model rotated to the monster's abdomen.

"Like all insects, their abdomen is relatively soft and is the weakest point in their defense."

"But..."

Noah continued scrolling down the document.

"They usually move in swarms."

"Furthermore, they have a Queen—Lys Sanglant d'Anjou (Blood Lily of Anjou)."

(The House of Anjou (12th century) was known for its brutal rule, laying the foundation for French centralization. The Lily is the emblem of the French royalty; the Blood Lily signifies desecrated royal power. 'Lys' (Lily) in Old French shares a root with 'Lice' (scaffold), implying an execution ground.)

The log included a blurry surveillance video.

In the video was an even more massive monster, nearly five meters long, similar in appearance to the 'Rosépines de Versailles' but with a more hideous carapace and thicker hooked claws.

It was the Queen.

In the video, this Queen Wasp was frantically preying on the surrounding organisms.

This even included several slightly smaller members of its own kind, the 'Rosépines de Versailles'.

With those terrifying hooked claws, it easily tore its own kind to shreds and then greedily stuffed the flesh into its cracked mouthparts.

The scene was bloody and chaotic.

Claire's stomach churned once again.

"The log says that when the Queen Wasp is extremely hungry, she will devour everything around her. Once she is full, she enters a reproductive phase."

Noah's gaze fell on the final description in the log.

That passage made both him and Claire gasp in unison.

"She will look for living organisms as 'breeding grounds' to lay her eggs in. Then, using a special amber-like slime she secretes, she fixes the host and the eggs together to a wall or ceiling, forming a closed and stable incubation environment."

Amber-colored slime.

People fixed to the walls.

Eggs bursting from their backs.

The scene they had witnessed in the corridor earlier instantly became incredibly clear in their minds.

So those poor Researchers were the 'masterpieces' of this Queen Wasp.

Noah slowly leaned back in his chair. He looked up, his gaze passing through the thick bulletproof glass toward the testing area that had been purified by fire, leaving only charred remains.

That wasn't just a testing area.

It was also the Queen Wasp's dining room.

And the true core of this so-called Incubation Nest, the place called the 'Ecological Zone'... was likely The Hive for that Queen Wasp and her massive swarm of 'Rosépines de Versailles'.
