"You really believe she's going to wake up?"
Kade lifted his gaze toward the towering Royal Medical Wing standing beyond the estate grounds.
"I do," he answered without hesitation. "Until someone gives me a reason to believe otherwise, I will continue believing she'll come back to you."
His confidence settled over her like a warm embrace.
"I'll come as soon as I can," he promised. "Wait for me."
"I will."
"And Dakota..."
"Yes?"
"Whatever you're carrying right now, don't carry it alone."
A quiet sob escaped her lips, though this time it was softened by relief rather than despair.
"I won't."
Only after hearing her breathing finally begin to steady did Kade end the call. For a brief moment he remained standing where he was, the phone still resting in his hand as he gathered his own thoughts before slipping it into his pocket. Marcus, who had been waiting patiently beside the cart, finally stepped forward.
"Royal Alpha."
