Far in the distance, someone was standing motionless.
It was a woman.
He couldn't see her face.
Long black hair drifted slowly around her shoulders despite the complete absence of wind, while the white mist concealed everything below her feet. She neither approached nor spoke. She simply remained where she was, watching him in complete silence.
Cooper swallowed nervously before gathering enough courage to ask, "...Who are you?"
The woman offered no reply.
Instead, she slowly lifted one pale hand.
At once, thin black threads began spreading through the white mist beneath her feet. They twisted and writhed like living vines, creeping silently across the ground as they reached toward him with slow, unnatural movements that made his heart pound with fear.
He instinctively stepped backward, clutching the little stuffed wolf even more tightly against his chest as the black threads continued drawing closer.
