Although Kade's words eased some of the burden weighing on his conscience, Kael still lowered his head respectfully.
"Even so, I'll strengthen security throughout the territory. I won't allow such an incident to happen again."
Kade gave a brief nod of approval.

As the conversation drew to a pause, a tiny figure cautiously peeked out from behind her mother's skirts.
She appeared to be about Takoda's age, with curious eyes that remained fixed on the little princess despite the obvious shyness keeping her from stepping forward.
Takoda noticed her almost immediately.
Tilting her head slightly, she offered the girl a bright, welcoming smile.
"Hello."
The little girl blinked in surprise before timidly stepping out into view.
"...Hello."
A gentle smile appeared on Kael's face as he rested a reassuring hand upon his daughter's shoulder.
"This is my daughter, Lily."
Takoda's eyes brightened instantly.
