Before the words even finished, the elder of the main combat faction activated the mechanism on the altar.
As the gears rotated, poisonous gas began pouring out from pipes in every direction. Within ten seconds, the ninjas on the altar showed expressions of intense pain.
After Kakuzu and Hidan inhaled the poison, they felt their bodies weakening and collapsed to the ground.
As for Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, they each used their own methods and simply played dead on the spot. It wasn't that they couldn't resist the poison—it was just that they wanted to see what kind of dirty tricks Grass Village had prepared.
After all, in ninja battles, intelligence is everything.
If there wasn't a backup plan, how the hell would Grass Village dare to ambush them?
As time passed, the seal connected to the Box of Ultimate Bliss began absorbing the chakra of the fallen ninjas.
After absorbing chakra from dozens of people, the box emitted a strange purple glow, releasing waves of ominous aura.
But soon… it stopped.
Seeing this, the elder frowned deeply. He had already sacrificed prisoners from Hōzuki Castle and members of Akatsuki—so why the hell wasn't it enough?
Did it really require tailed beast–level chakra to activate it?
Glancing at Jōnin Wuwei beside him, the elder asked impatiently,
"Wuwei, how much chakra do we still need? I'm not waiting forever."
"Please be patient, Elder. The Box of Ultimate Bliss takes time to absorb chakra."
"…Fine."
The elder nodded slightly—
Then froze.
A kunai pierced straight through his heart.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at the attacker—Wuwei.
"Why… did you attack me? Aren't our goals the same?!"
"I'm sorry, Elder," Wuwei said coldly. "But the Box of Ultimate Bliss can only grant one wish. Compared to reviving Grass Village… I choose to revive my son, Muku."
"Your son died because of your own experiments! That has nothing to do with me!"
"True… but the chakra still isn't enough."
Wuwei's expression darkened.
"So you'll have to be the final sacrifice."
With that, he shoved the elder forward.
Losing his balance, the elder fell into the abyss, crashing onto the sacrificial platform. His body—and chakra—were instantly devoured by the box.
A sickening explosion echoed.
Wuwei quickly formed hand seals, activating the box again.
The expressions of the Akatsuki members changed.
Before they could fully react to Grass Village's insane plan, internal betrayal had already happened.
Itachi Uchiha stared at the box in the distance. Whatever was inside… it gave off a terrifying aura, something even more disturbing than the Mangekyō Sharingan.
"Kisame Hoshigaki, Hidan, Kakuzu… stop pretending," Itachi said coldly. "Whatever's inside that box is dangerous."
Before he could finish—
BOOM!
The sealed door of the box exploded open.
A monstrous figure burst out, tearing through the air at high speed, passing right over Hidan and Kakuzu, and shooting straight toward the opening above.
"ROOOOAR!!"
The deafening roar shook the entire area, its chakra pressure making even seasoned killers feel uneasy.
"Tailed beast–level chakra…" Itachi muttered.
"So this is Grass Village's trump card."
Kakuzu's face turned ugly. He had already lost one heart—now he only had four left.
Kisame glanced at Itachi.
"What now? Continue the mission… or deal with that thing?"
Even Itachi hesitated.
Above the altar, Wuwei stared at the monster, his face turning pale.
His wish… was to revive his son.
So what the hell was this thing?!
As the monster passed him, Wuwei felt a familiar chakra—but twisted, corrupted.
"This… isn't my son…"
Before he could process it, the creature ignored him completely and blasted through the base, flying toward the center of Grass Village and destroying everything in its path.
Meanwhile, as Itachi and the others prepared to escape—
Dark humanoid creatures began crawling out of the box.
They attacked immediately.
These things weren't just tough—they were practically immortal.
On the second floor of the izakaya…
After finishing lunch, Naruto casually ordered a few more cups of milk tea and juice, looking toward the direction of the chaos.
The moment the box opened, he had already sensed that chakra.
"Satori…"
The darkness within it wasn't much weaker than Kurama at full rage.
Still, Naruto wasn't too worried.
These "world-ending" movie monsters always sounded scary—but most of them had obvious weaknesses. And against sealing techniques?
Yeah… not so impressive.
And sealing just happened to be one of Naruto's specialties.
Leaning back, Naruto spoke lazily,
"Hey, Kurama. Ever heard of the Box of Ultimate Bliss? Supposedly a relic of the Sage of Six Paths. Sealed demon inside, world-destroying nonsense."
Kurama snorted.
"Bullshit. The Sage didn't leave junk like that behind. But… that thing does carry traces of the Ten-Tails' aura. For ordinary humans, it's basically a walking disaster."
He paused, then added mockingly,
"Of course… compared to you ninjas, even that thing looks harmless."
Naruto rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah… coming from a giant fox that nukes mountains, that means a lot."
Then he glanced toward the raging destruction in the distance.
"For ordinary people, it doesn't matter whether it's a tailed beast or a ninja—if it goes on a rampage, it's the same result: total ruin."
"If not for greed… Grass Village wouldn't have released that thing in the first place."
Kurama smirked.
"And yet… you're still going to save them."
Naruto didn't deny it.
"Depends," he said casually. "If that box is useful, I'll step in."
Then he glanced at Karin beside him.
"But before that… let her watch."
"Watch how a village destroys itself chasing stupid dreams."
