When the anesthesia wore off, my body began to ache everywhere, but worst of all in my abdomen. It was the kind of pain that rode in on every breath, steady and unrelenting.
"The doctor says no food for six hours, water only. You can eat once the anesthesia has fully cleared your system." The person saying this was Marcus.
I never would have imagined he would be the one sitting there. I had pictured Ashton, maybe John, but Marcus was the one name that had never crossed my mind.
I couldn't speak, so I just looked at him, tears sliding from the corners of my eyes without any effort on my part.
