I nodded and let the conversation fade.
Thomas glanced at me, then frowned slightly. "Are you waiting for someone?"
"Yes," I replied. "I didn't tell Ashton I was coming, so I'm waiting here."
Before he could say anything else, the receptionist spoke up, her tone suddenly careful. "Mr. Lowe, Mr. Fuller has approved your visit. You can go up now."
Thomas gave a small nod, then looked back at me. "He's probably busy. Why don't you come up with me? You shouldn't be standing for too long in your condition."
I shook my head. "I'm fine. Mr. Crest is coming to get me. You should go ahead. I don't want to delay your work."
He raised a brow. "Jared Crest?"
I nodded.
A faint smile crossed his face before he stepped into the elevator without another word.
The moment the doors closed, the air around us shifted again. The receptionist looked at me differently now, her earlier confidence gone. There was hesitation in her eyes, and something close to fear.
