"To provide for you and our child!" he said, a proud smile spreading across his face, his scent warm and steady around me.
I pressed my lips together, then gave him a small smile. "I don't need money. Grandpa left me more than enough, and I've saved a lot from working at Fuller Corporation. I barely spend on anything, so I don't need it."
He already took care of almost everything. Food, shelter, transport. I never had to ask. And I wasn't the type to wander through stores or buy things on impulse. Most days, my needs were simple, quiet.
I pushed the file back into his hands. His brows pulled together at once. "You don't want to spend what's mine? Or you just won't accept it?"
I paused, caught off guard. Was there really a difference?
"Neither," I said, meeting his eyes. "I just don't spend much. You said you wanted to expand your territory, right? Use it for that. It'll just sit with me anyway."
